I live outside Indy so I don't get to watch the Sabres as much as I'd like. But I got to watch last night. I have followed the team since their inception in 1970, and I have never seen a team as soft as these guys. I saw no heart when they came out on the ice despite fighting a losing streak. I saw no physical play, especially from the guys on defense. No fighting for the puck, until late in the game when they were desperate. The thing is they have talented players. Adams has gotten guys that can skate, can shoot. But they don't play with any heart. And without that talent means nothing. You know now it's not coaching; Lindy's chops are well established. So it's time for Adams and Lindy to make it really clear; either man up and play tough or move these guys out and get guys that give a damn. I'd start with Power myself; he doesn't seem like he wants to touch anyone on the other team.

If we don’t win it this year then I hope they do. -
I agree with all you’ve said here

Not sure it was really more than a yard

OC Joe Brady on his decision to call a QB sneak Entering Sunday, Josh Allen had converted 13 of 14 (93%) of his short yardage sneaks when needing to pick up 1 yard, according to TruMedia. Prior to the final drive, Allen was 3 of 4 on short yardage sneaks against the Rams, including two TDs from the 1 yard line. This was in an article on buffalobills.com. So assuming we ran it the way we had been running it gives us a real good chance. But I was confused when I only saw one pusher behind Josh.

I got the 13/14 from Buffalo bills.com. Just throwing bootleg out as an idea given they were ganged up in the middle. I’d love to ask Josh if he really liked the call
-
Couple comments. One is that you assume they would have done an inside kick even if they had scored on the first sneak. More likely they kick and try to stop them farther in the Rams area of the field, thus giving us a shorter distance to get to FG range. So take out the 0.03 in your second scenario. Next your 0.087 I presume is based on us stopping them on one first down in the game, but that was because McVay was playing conservative and milking the clock. Knowing he’d have to make one first down much more likely he uses his entire playbook especially the short stuff or jets to Nakia that killed us all day. So lower your 0.087 to maybe 0.05. So really not much difference at all.

An absolute disaster by the coaches at the end of this game

Again we all agree the TO was wrong. -
Fire McD and Hire Belichek after we lose AGAIN in the playoffs

The Chin would fit great in Buffalo, wouldn't he? I agree with your take on McD. -
If ifs and buts were candies and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

That's kind of an indictment of the group I guess. what I have been seeing from Miller is he's just rushing straight into the RT, no real moves. Pretty much what I saw from all our D lineman against the Rams.

We all agree they should not have called d the TO. But to say they had zero chance is flat out wrong. They had a chance to recover an onside kick. even if we score and the Rams got the ball back what do you think the odds were we stop them from getting a first down? Give how they shredded us all game I'd put it about the same as recovering the onside kick. McVay would not have just run the ball 3 times. -
I think everyone agrees that calling the timeout was wrong. I also think you should look up the definition of massively. I would love to talk to Josh about it. When he saw that he only had Davidson behind him to push, could he have simply thrown the ball away at that point or maybe just took off around end on his own.

And what have the Broncos and Niners done with those 2 guys. Won anything yet? We get the Ravens we'll focus on Henry and Jackson will gag as he always does. Steelers could be tougher. -
It was going to be a long shot no matter what. I don't think there's any way the Rams don't make a first down when they got the ball back.

This year at least you can take th coaching excuse off the table. Ruff is as experienced as they come. -
I think the penalty question is being evaluated more in hindsight vs. the actual game time. I don't fault taking the penalty becuase at the time you dinit know if McVay would go for it on fourth down or kick the FG. Taking the penaly takes them out of FG position. The real problem then is a defense that let's them get a first down on 3rd and 15. I don;'t think the sneak per se was wrong in that we have converted 13/14 going into the game. But when the alignment didn't have the two guys to push behind Josh that was a problem. I think everyone agrees they should not have called the TO.
-
At this point I'd play Solomon and sit Miller. Miller is just not doing much.

I think last night showed the Sabres problem is not coaching, not even GM. They brought in talented guys, but there is no one on that roster with any heart. They fold like a cheap suit whenever they get into a stressful situation. Last night was a prime example. If I'm Adams and Ruff I make it clear any guy that does not want to play physical hockey is either on the bench or gone. They need a captain like the Rangers got years ago in Messier; having Dahlin as captain is ridiculous.
