Roy's Mid-Season AFL Power Grouping

You can say the same thing for any team with an All Pro type QB. It’s a weird year. Parity has never been more apparent than this year. -
Joe B ranking of all players through 9 games
oldmanfan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Time to replace guys. Milano, Taron, Poyer, Bernard, all have had other guys replacing them that play better. Hancock, Lewis and Hairston should be starting along with Williams and Thompson once he’s off the injury list. You may even want to start Buffalo Joe over Bernard at this point. On offense it might be getting near the time to replace Dawkins. -
I presume Kubiak knows a lot more than I do, but seeing his comments as well as others in the thread I’d say the answer is all of the above. I’d make these points: 1. Our O line stunk, and even those with a modicum of understanding of the nuances of football could see that. Terrible run blocking and we cannot adjust the blitzes a lot of times (might also be on Josh). 2. WRs. Our WRs do struggle to get separation, and we really miss Palmer in that regard. Plus when Josh was rushed they did a terrible job adjusting routes or working their way to an open spot on the field. It is not the group per se; the only major difference from last year is Hollins and that can’t be why this group is so non-effective. 3. Josh. It seems to me he is hesitant at the line and not sure what he sees in the defense. As a result he is hesitant about where to go with the ball, and as such is not seeing guys that are more open where he can make easy completions. I don’t place any stock in the marriage affecting him stuff, but he does look like he is getting confused and frustrated out there, which leads his to try and play hero ball too much such as with the sneak and fumble that essentially ended the game. 4. Brady. This to me is the biggest problem last week, and in the other losses. He does not adapt well at all within games and he gets away too quickly from stuff that works. I keep talking about two things from last year: the 4+1 alignment and using Ty Johnson as a receiver. Both highly successful last year, neither used much this year. When we pulled that dumb 4th down play I knew it would be a long day. Just an overall horse hockey performance by everyone associated with the offensive side on the football.

T.J. Sanders to return to practice this week from IR

I don’t know how many times this needs to be said but the Jets were not going to trade within the division. Diana Russini reported on this. -
So is Landon Jackson done for the year?

MCL and PCL? Yeah. -
In the past 24 hours we have seen posts claiming that Beane deliberately screwed up getting WRs this season out of spite towards fans, that the coaching staff does not take things seriously, and now this. Trade Josh Allen. Trade the current MVP. Trade the heart and soul of the team. And all this based on one game. A game in which they sucked to be sure. But one game. I have asked this before and will ask again: what the hell is wrong with some folks around here?

Gotta lick their wounds and come out focused. It will be my last game ever at Rich stadium!

Think you’re on to something. If you compare the receiver group this year to last year, it really isn’t much different. When Palmer is back he is roughly equivalent to Cooper, maybe even better. Shakir is Shakir, Coleman is Coleman. Maybe the biggest change is losing Hollins; I thought Shavers would move in there but he hasn’t. And you have Moore this year. But the production has fallen off. I have mentioned this several times since yesterday, but last year we ran the formation that had 4 guys bunched on one side and a 5th receiver split out to the other side. And it gave other teams fits. Commentators such as Romo and Collinsworth talked a lot about how defenses had no answer for it. But unless I’m blind, I haven’t seen it much this year. Granted we could have a better group, but to me it is about Brady not getting his job done. And as a result Josh either has to throw it away or take sacks.

Dalton Kincaid Hamstring Injury (Week to Week per Jordan Schultz)
oldmanfan replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I understand logic perfectly well. And as I just said the 4 top guys went before Kincaid but we could have traded up to get a WR. Before criticizing logic learn to read. You made a statement to initiate this by saying TEs cannot be legitimate pass receivers. That is completely ridiculous, so why not just say so instead of trying to segue into WRs and draft picks. Beane needs to improve the WR room. I will concede that. But also going into yesterday we had the # 1 offense in the league in yards/game. Yesterday everyone on the team stunk, no more so than Brady. He has guys like Moore and Samuel that have been productive on other teams but not on ours. That speaks to a mix of talent level and poor work by the OC. -

The top 4 WRs went before our draft slot that year. You could if course make an argument to trade up. -

Don’t make a stupid statement that TEs can’t have impact as pass receivers when it is blatantly obvious they can. -

I would suggest you have your discussion about tight ends with the following: Kelce Gonzalez Gstes Sharpe Mackey Casper Just to start -
Brady is like Coach Boone being schooled by Ed Henry. Ed Henry was way ahead of Boons, so he had to switch it up and give him something different. Going into the game, the offense led the league in yards per game. But Miami was way ahead of Brady last night and he did nothing to switch it up. Let’s see the 4+1 formation from last year. Let’s put Coleman in motion to try and free him up? Quick slants? Throws to RBs? Pick plays? There’s a lot that could be done.
