Bills fan's cycle of life
TheElectricCompany replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about the late round flyer on the overachieving, undersized white guy from a regional school, preferably with an Eastern European last name and great nickname? Mike "The Missile" Machczynski - this guy will transform our defense. NOBODY hits like this safety. -
Blame Dennison if You Want, But it's Not the System
TheElectricCompany replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tell me what that looks like. Put him in the slot? Smoke screens at X or Z position? Jet sweeps? Screens between the tackles? Those are all cute, but he's a proven elite RB. Just put him in the backfield and give him 20 carries and 5 dumpoffs. -
Blame Dennison if You Want, But it's Not the System
TheElectricCompany replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Chiefs simply line up better players than most defenses can defend. There are very, very few linebackers or safeties that can match up with Kelce. He's too big, strong and agile to shut down. There are even fewer corners and safeties who can keep up with Tyreek Hill. He can truly take the top off a defense and throw it in the trash. Kareem Hunt is still a young pup, but he's looking like a player than can take it the distance every play, both running and catching the ball. Of course, the OL is playing well and their QB is slicing and dicing defenses this year. Schemes are important, but finding elite players than transcend scheme are much more important. There's only one offensive weapon (Lesean) who fits that mold right now, and it's reasonable to think that that his decline may be imminent. -

Gruden on Peterman

Gruden once called Tim Tebow "250 lbs of concrete cyanide". Find me a player that he hasn't excessively hyped up. -

I finished this book the other day and wanted to share a few interesting tidbits. This is an easy read about a great coach! The 34 Defense: Wade prefers to run this for several reasons. First, it's more mobile. Four linebackers will always move better than four defensive linemen, which compares favorable against a passing attack. Second, it allows you to hide pressure. An offense can identify three players that will rush the passer, but the fourth could be any of the linebackers. He would often allow elite players in his defense to go "off script". Reggie White, JJ Watt, Von Miller and Bruce Smith didn't have to play their role specifically, they were given a bunch of freedom. He talked about how JJ could move across the DL as he saw fit, and although he often left big cutback lanes for the RBs to exploit, he'd break up the play so fast it wouldn't matter. Working with Buddy Ryan: Wade talked about how challenging it was to teach Ryan's 46 defense. Both he and Jeff Fisher struggled with assignments and how complex the defense was. They ended up reducing the number of calls the MLB had to make and renaming many of the positions (WILL and SAM didn't work when they changed sides). Ryan also HATED offense, he'd get tired of it in practice and just move on to defense when he felt it was best. I'm sure none of this effected Rex & Rob Ryan. Terrell Owens: He loved him as a player. He competed, played hurt and performed on the field. He didn't seem to know what all the fuss was about. Denver Broncos: Wade had a great relationship with the owner, Pat Bowlen. When Bowlen fired Wade, he was brought to tears. Many years later, when Wade came back to Denver as their defensive coordinator, he saw Bowlen in the cafeteria. He was suffering from Alzheimers couldn't recognize him, only muttering "Pat Bowlen". Buffalo Bills: Even in the late 90s, Ralph Wilson was a wild card. His feelings on Flutie or Johnson changed with the wind. After the Nashville loss, Ralph went back and forth on who to fire and who to keep, never addressing rumors, eventually firing him late. Wade went to arbitrage over his earnings against the Bills and eventually won.

I don't think cryptocurrency is understood by the masses, and that fuels the "it will collapse soon" narrative, regardless if it's true of false.

Jameis Winston eating a W?
TheElectricCompany replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except they didn't win and they had 3 turnovers! Nobody remembers the "almosts". He's got plenty of physical ability, but he just makes too many mistakes. This video is hysterical. The team was clearly inspired. -
Know of any Bills fans that don't like wings?
TheElectricCompany replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
+1 - Buffalo wings are fine, but they don't compare to properly smoked wings with a sauce (not necessarily BBQ) that compliments that rub. Hot sauce, butter and blue cheese is kind of lazy. -
Do you believe a full moon affects behavior?
TheElectricCompany replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Both full and new moons have effects on wildlife. -
He's been fine. Not nearly as lights out as many think, but fine. He has one of the fattest contracts in the sport and performs like a middle of the road guy. Now, he's 11 months removed from surgery and can't even practice. That is a huge red flag. Just calling it like I see it.

Siemian has some very obvious limitations. You know he has connected on one deep ball (35 yards in the air!) all year? His passes have no zip. Yes, he's jumpy in the pocket, and he's locking on to a receiver from the snap, but physically, he's had some injuries already, isn't super mobile and has poor arm talent. Frankly, he looks like a 7th round athlete, and he's not good enough at the other stuff for the Broncos to give him a full year.
-
Yep - you can't use the "potential" argument with a QB going into year 7. Injuries, turnovers and lower completion percentage have not helped him. Russel Wilson has turned out to be the best QB in that draft, and it's not even close.

You don't have to go far. Try to talk with Dennison at some local bar, I'm sure him and Kubiak were heavily involved in scouting Lynch. I do remember Kubiak saying his ability to scramble behind the LOS while keeping his eyes downfield to make a play to the receivers was very rare, as it's hard to coach a young player to do that, most just take off after their first read is covered. From an arm strength perspective, he's got all the ability you'd ever want to work with. He's simply "raw", and I get how not every team would want that type of prospect in the first, but it only takes one team. Denver had no problem sitting him for year one. They thought that the flaws in his game, largely consistency in accuracy and touch, could be improved on. He's clearly not developed at the rate they'd like, but I don't think he's entered bust category yet. I think there is more to Lynch's game then the "big guy, big arm" mold someone like EJ Manuel was ( he actually wasn't a great athlete at all), but it's all speculation until he actually takes the field.
-
Not all NFL scouts. Most of us peasants only see one big board, usually a carbon copy of Mayock or Kipers, that we base our value off. Every team has a wildly different big board because every coaching system and scheme are different. Go back and watch some pre draft video and you'll see many analysts singing his praise. Same with Manziel, Gabbert, Locker, etc. The accuracy was there in flashes, and he has a live arm that can make every throw. The bottom line is that there just aren't a bunch of big, mobile, live arm QBs walking around in the draft, and those guys will always be drafted high.
-
The tape showed a QB who had excellent size, excellent athleticism and a strong arm that can make every throw. He's a smart guy with a good demeanor and personality as well. All it takes is one team to believe you are a 1st rounder, and there were no shortage of reports of teams trying to get Lynch in the 1st. Now, he did struggle with consistency of accuracy, maybe from poor throwing motion or footwork, I don't know. I think that's where the "sit him on the bench for a year or two" comments came from. Vision and consistency of accuracy continue to be the hurdle he has not yet overcome, but the other stuff is still there.

Marcus Peters - hit or miss
