Reading b/w the lines...
TheElectricCompany replied to elltrain22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen any lines to read through. Just smoke so far. McD is the king of coachspeak. He never shows his hand. -
Bills interested in Sam Bradford

Yeah, and if Tyrod could go through his reads quickly and throw the damn ball, he'd be a franchise QB. -
Bills interested in Sam Bradford
TheElectricCompany replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course, we're still picking a QB high, right? Bradford is a downgrade from Tyrod as a "bridge QB". I'm not even going to get into his injury issues. Dude has a knee of glass. -
Yep - Landry is tough to value too. He's the new Wes Welker, great player, but not an elite one. He is just entering his prime. I would think great players at his age would get more than a mid round pick or two in a deal. Think of it this way - what are the odds that you are going to find a receiver in the 3rd round that gives you 60% of what Landry produced, maybe 30%?
-
Landry was a 2nd round pick. He goes out and puts up superb numbers. Nobody has caught more balls him in the first four years, ever. And you can't even get a 2nd round pick for the guy? Yes, you'll have to pay him, but so what? 2/3 of the league could take his contract on today. This trade market is truly bizzare.

Landry is the fastest receiver to 400 catches in NFL history. I look forward to hearing what they gave up, probably peanuts.

Bucs' WR Mike Evans About to Cash In
TheElectricCompany replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure about the first statement, but yeah, not too many corners that match up to 6'5, 230' with pretty good speed. -
Bucs' WR Mike Evans About to Cash In

Yeah, I think we can kill that narrative. Evans is as productive as they come, even with erratic QB play. -
It doesn't matter who we draft
TheElectricCompany replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hogwash. There are plenty of mid to late 1st round rookies who made big contributions to their franchise in both the short and long term. You telling me getting players like Brandin Cooks, Bradley Roby, Deandre Hopkins, Travis Frederick, Xavier Rhodes, Chandler Jones or Harrison Smith is not going to make a difference? -
Sources: Dolphins to release Ndamukong Suh
TheElectricCompany replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cox and Donald are incredible defensive tackles, you are correct. They are the most important player on those defenses. Suh just isn't having that type of impact. Their defense is getting toast. Dareus has just become a big guy who eats up interior OL and doesn't move. -

$100m+ deals are OK for elite pass rushers and QBs, but it's just to much cap to allocate to a defensive tackle. He has not made their defense elite. -
Richard Sherman - 3ry deal with 49ers
TheElectricCompany replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who has been better than him the past 6 seasons? -
Yeah, because he was too busy slamming purple drank.

Any of you guys out there wanna volunteer?

I'm too busy working on Lindsey Vonn, but I'd settle for JL. -
Baker Mayfield and Johnny Manziel
TheElectricCompany replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very lazy comparison. Manziel has some serious mental health and substance abuse issues. We really don't know how good he could have been. This isn't the 80s, cocaine and the NFL don't mix. -
As I mentioned, if the Broncos didn't have Roby, who is a superb player, he wouldn't be on the block. You can't pay three corners. His film and on the field production is obvious, he's an elite corner back. He has a contract that matches that level of play. Locker room...he was a team captain. He may be blunt, critical and in your face, but he is respected. He is a wild man, that is also obvious. Some coaches can deal with it, some can't. He didn't have issues with Wade Phillips, but I bet him and Belicheck weren't exactly pals. Yes, we are trying to build something, but this is a player who checks plenty of boxes. It's not like we were lights out against the pass. I get the whole "trust the process" stuff that McD & McB are all about (although, they lay on the "coachspeak" pretty heavy, talking plenty but saying little"), but I believe many of these players (Bennett, Peters, Talib, Quinn) are all low risk / high payoff guys.

Richard Sherman - 3ry deal with 49ers
TheElectricCompany replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seahawks got away with paying the defense big money, with Wilson mimicking Fran Tarkenton on a cheap contract. Now Wilson is getting big money, and he just can't carry the team on his back. They have the worst offensive line in the year and literally no running game. You have to clear some cap space so you put some pieces around him. Yes, the defense will drop off, but Wilson is an elite QB and can keep this team in championship contention with a few pieces around them. It was really fun watching that defense for years, but all things come to an end. -
Marcus Peters and Michael Bennett, both elite IMO, but aren't "model teammates". Talib wouldn't get much. This trade market is downright laughable right now, they'd probably move him for a 5th or 6th pick. What is that 5th or 6th really worth? A flyer on a guy that might be a backup? Big deal. Aggressive man corners always draw more flags, and he may have a game a year where he is suspended. Is it worth it? Good question, but I'd argue yes....Talib has shut down plenty of #1 WRs for years. That really isn't debatable.
-
Another elite cornerback who could be had for draft pick pennies. His play has been exceptional for years. Broncos need to sign Roby and re-up Harris, they can't pay 3 corners. Tough situation. The "He's not a McD/McB player" stuff is getting so played out. We going to pass on every elite player who needs to be handled a bit differently?

Making the playoffs vs having a high draft pick
TheElectricCompany replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We've had plenty of good draft picks, but we picked the wrong players. See Aaron Maybin, EJ Manuel, etc. Playoffs were great, but waiting most of my teenage and adult years to see 3 points was pretty lame. I just want to see this team become a consistent championship contender, and that's going to take a major upgrade at a few positions to happen. -
What is Cordy Glen's trade value?

Rams trade Ogletree to Giants
TheElectricCompany replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Add it to the list. Very productive player who is just entering his prime going for low potential draft picks.
