Very nice to see the Chiefs DROP that game!

I think it was smart of Josh to shut that down. These are the guys he’s supposed to be able to let his guard down around. Why the heck does Kyle Allen start talking about that in such a public way? Regarding film study, Josh has referred to the fact that opposing defenses play him very differently than they do other quarterbacks. The argument then becomes that extensive film study has less value. Time might be better spent elsewhere.

The last few minutes of that segment - after the interview - were hilarious.

How much longer will the window be open?
schoolhouserock replied to JohninMinn.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure about windows. I’m more of a screen door guy. -
Perhaps. That Oliver contract, however, still has a good chance to age nicely.

The Singletary pick is arguably OK. The Bills got run-of-the-mill value out of an RB with that pick. The other three… all we can say is that at least the Bills’ got SOME compensation when they decided those players weren’t going to pan out. It’s obviously better to take players that end up working out, but at least they weren’t outright cuts.

This one has got to hurt in the Bills’ front office. At least they didn’t fall into the sunk cost fallacy.

AJE was a great Hawkeye. Fun fact: AJE’s first sack for Iowa was against Josh Allen. He has flashed from time to time as a pro. Here’s hoping for consistency.

Will the dual role be too much for McD?
schoolhouserock replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it is entirely fair to speculate that McD felt he himself was the team’s best option at D coordinator. He had been successful in that roll before and, as a person with a lot of self confidence, that belief is natural. However, I wonder at the possibility that the true nexus for McD’s decision to take on defensive play calling was something a little more base. It is not unusual to miss some of the ‘grunt work’ as one progresses to higher level positions. That ‘grunt work’ can seem more pure, more fun. I wonder if McD feels he has lost a bit of the enjoyment he may have once known in earlier coaching gigs. This may all simply be a bid to recapture a bit of that mojo. The dual role for McD may be too much for him from the team’s perspective, but it could also be just right from his own point of view. From my point of view, it’s a gamble. Even so, I tend to like people that gamble on themselves. -
When did Steve Tasker become such a homer?
schoolhouserock replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes. Not his job. He is an entertainer. He is not a journalist, reporter, or investigator. -
When did Steve Tasker become such a homer?

It is not Tasker’s job to be objective or critical of the team. For any reporter that has a genuine critique of the Bills’ organization at any level, good luck maintaining your access to the best sources. -
McDermott & Beane Extended Through 2027

Is this ticket sale only for the Bills’ game? Are other London games included? Trying to find any reason to hold out hope.

Bills promote Eric Washington to assistant head coach
schoolhouserock replied to elroy16's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t get this. I never once heard anyone in the Bills organization say that Leslie was coming back. Is this coming from another source? A post on these boards? -
Is Sean McDermott our version of Doug Collins?
schoolhouserock replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t believe either of your examples will end up winning a Lombardi with their new teams. Has any former Super Bowl winning coach won a championship with a new team? I can’t think of any. Retreads. -
Is Sean McDermott our version of Doug Collins?
schoolhouserock replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Smart money is on McD over any retread that would take his stead. The idea that anyone else could waltz in tomorrow and win the big one is, to me, pure fantasy. -
Is Sean McDermott our version of Doug Collins?
schoolhouserock replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. All of these comparisons… McD is like Marty… McD is like Doug… They are all flawed from the outset. This is an attempt to simplify a concept to such a degree that it loses all meaning. -
My feeling is that the Bills will win fewer regular season games in 2023 than they did in 2022. However, I think the 2023 team has a legitimate shot at performing better in the playoffs than the 2022 team. My reasoning is that the AFC as a whole is better this year than last, but that the other “top” teams (KC and CIN) are not necessarily any better off this year than last.

I wish there were an antidote for fans who want change for the sake of change. These are typically the same folks that worship at the feet of Andy Reid despite having “failed” 9 times in Philadelphia and 5 more times in KC BEFORE finally winning one. Yes, his name is Andy Reid and he was fired from Philadelphia after making the playoffs, but not winning the Super Bowl, 9 times in 13 seasons. He then took KC to the playoffs five more times and failed to win the Super Bowl before they finally won it on his sixth try.

It is a matter of expectation versus outcome. It is unreasonable to treat the expectations and outcomes of a first round pick as being equal to those of a sixth round pick. GMs are not immune to criticism for failing on late round picks. It is because the expectation for those picks is so small, that a failure receives lessened criticism and a large success receives greater praise. The expectation of success for a 6th round pick is, in my opinion, so small that a complete failure would not warrant the label of “bust”.
