  1. you ok man? missed you.
  2. i tend to find out which places are better at wings when i order them extra crispy. if they tell me it's going to take some random amount of time extra to cook...they're doing it the right way. my understanding is to really get them extra crispy, you cook them at 350 for the 15, take them out, let he oil get back up to heat, and cook them again. it takes time vs just leaving them in for a bit longer where they really never get that much crispier.
  3. just for clarification, the article was referring to the finger lakes in general as a cheaper napa, not just geneva. my wife, (who works in geneva) and i were actually surprised that they used geneva as a talking point, as the lake it's on isn't as popular as the some of the others. that said geneva has done a great job over the last decade improving the waterfront. i've been to a couple of weddings in the area and have always had fun.
  4. i'm hoping it's just growing pains as others have mentioned. i'll still go, but i'm not as interested as i once was. you around at the end of this month? i'm jammed this week, away next week, but my wife and kids are in florida the week after. giddy up.
  5. yesterday i was told that a couple we knew finally went. they waited 45 mins, and said the wings were rather, "unimpressive". so there's that.
  6. I’m right there with ya. Someone is going to have to force me to be worried about this.
  7. So…who is the most concerned? Let’s just put it all on the table.
  8. Ouch.
  9. I bet that filthy captains hat caused that growth.
  10. anyone angry? i don't have time to get through all 13 pages.
  11. do they still make this? i'm pretty sure it's a genny product. i remember seeing it in boston when i was in college, and it was considered wildly expensive back then. maybe 5-6 buck for a bottle.
  12. it's weird how the grids run. when we had the ice storm back the 90s, our entire street lost power for about a week. two houses only lost if for about 6 hours. our house and our neighbors house...mostly due to timing of the builds, grid, etc. one neighbor even implied to the other that these two houses were the only ones with power because we were the italians on the street. that was actually said. i'd love a full house generator. it's the only thing we're missing. the issue is my house is on all electric. we're grandfathered into a grid that gets amazingly cheap electric. we have a small propane tank to run fireplaces and stoves, but i don't think it's worth burying a huge tank, filling it, etc. we haven't lost power in the 8 years we lived there, but ya never know. i honestly didn't know there were solar generators. i can't imagine they look nice, but i'll look into them.
  13. i went to ub for grad school in 2000-2004, and the only name i recognize was the steer. we drank there a lot. i remember 10 cent wing night, and that when smoking was outlawed indoor, that place didn't give a *****. if anything, the bartender was annoyed we kept opening the front door, letting the cold in. he insisted we smoke inside.
  14. loved pee wee herman as a kid. i still think the bar scene in pee wee's big adventure is a classic.
  15. oh i get ya. i wasn't so much talking about the quality of wine vs being able to visit a region much less expensive than napa. i don't know much about wine, but i've never been a fan of ones that come from that region.
  16. It’s it a sponsored tent? I was in one today and it was free food and non alcoholic drinks. My brother was in his last year and they had booze, and everyone got a Diggs signed mini ball.
  17. It’s raining. A lot. That’s all I can add.
  18. i live about 90 minutes door to door from the stadium. i really would love to go at some point, but i'm to the point that the games i go to are very last minute, so it's gotten hard to plan anything. last year was the first time in i don't know how many years i've missed a game. The wineries around here have gotten very popular. forbes recently did an article about the finger lakes, and specifically the town of geneva. they're calling it the new, less expensive napa. if you don't want to travel to the west coast, you can spend time on the finger lakes wineries and breweries. if you're willing to drive and hour and a half to two hours, you can go to niagara on the lake in canada, which has it's own wine region. fun tours, etc. that being said, $22 for a glass of finger lakes wine, (or any wine) is insane. i get nyc prices, but my god. i honestly don't love a lot of the wines from around here. many tend to be sweet, but on occasion we find one we like at a winery and buy a case. it's always very reasonable.
  19. i've never been to that hotel. let me know what you think/what the scene is.
  20. it's time to dust off my turkey burger mafia t-shirt.
  21. scapegoat. just wanted to say it.
