i think you nailed it here sotier. i'm using the kbb/truecar sites to get the numbers. two of the dealers have emailed me vins so i can do specific searches, (which i haven't done yet, so not sure if it will help). i have a pretty good idea of what i'm willing to pay for 2-3 different cars. you're 100% correct on having to be ready to walk away from a deal. i'm not married to a specific car this time around, so that should be too hard. i totally agree about the service dept as well. two of our local car dealers were taken over by a buffalo dealer, and their service has been outstanding ever since. i'll always pay a bit more for the service. that's way too long. i'll take any financing that's below 2%, and usually try to pay cars off in 3 years. i'll take a 5 year loan, and pay extra towards the principal with each payment.

Sure. Sammy is a good wr. He just isn’t elite, and his new high salary doesn’t change that until his production shows it.

this is typically what i aim for. i realize the dealer has to make a profit, yet i don't want to over spend. i choose a few cars in want to key in on, (i'm now down to 2), i have a number that i'm willing to pay, and now i just have to see if everything falls in place. if i get the model with the options that i want, in the price range that i've set for myself, i'm happy. i'm not so sure about the cheap part though. i'm looking at suvs, and i think the prices have sky rocketed over the last couple of years.

No one is missing the point. You just have a lousy one. The bills could have paid sammy. So could the rams. Even after giving up a second for him, they still didn’t. Two teams Sammy has been involved with haven’t thought he was worth the money. If he works out in kc, great. His salary in no way makes him elite. I don’t know why you can’t understand that. You know what debating 72 is like. He’s just so in love with Sammy.

wha? i was thinking around the 10 mill mark, so yes...i was wrong. now, how does that validate you? what does sammy getting 16 mill a year to you? to me, it's just that kc overpaid based on potential. this move could absolutely blow up in their faces. the truth of the matter is that sammy just hasn't shown that he's in any way elite, and his production has been a disappointment considering what he's capable of. honestly...if sammy looks average again this year, what will your excuse be? the love you have for sammy is just strange. he's on his third team. move on, and be happy the bills were able to get a pick for him.

also, do anyone find there's not a ton of wiggle room in negotiations now? we know what the dealer paid, and their general markup, (they obviously need to make a profit). they can work with you on trade in value, there may be incentives involved, then after that, maybe a small percentage of the price of the car can be negotiated. i've been to a couple of dealers in the past who say that's all they'll give. that being said, i've gotten large factory incentives just by luck in the past. one was 8 grand off the sticker price, just to get the car off the lot.

i understand this idea, but i just feel it's wishful thinking. i still don't think sammy has show to be elite in any way. he has the talent to be, but until his play backs that up, i just don't buy it. he hasn't shown to be a guy to take over games, and i especially don't think he'd be that guy with taylor throwing to him. that jax defense had this offense totally stifled. i don't think having sammy here would have put them over the top at all. i just remembered taylor being shut down too often. the pick has value no matter who we take. again, i think getting anything for sammy was a good deal. i hope he does well in kc.

i'm not quite at 80,000. the car is acting quirky, so it's my time to bail. that's good to know about the similar offers. it happened to my dad too. he has a corvette, and actually won a corvette. he decided to sell one off, went to three different places, and they were all almost the exact same. it's good to know that you got the top end of the offer. i'll have to see if i will. my daughter will be 3 in june, and we have a son being born in late may. i'm doing the kid thing later in life. i'm tired a lot.

why? to over pay for production? between his numbers, and his attitude at the time, he wouldn't have been paid by the bills what he can get from the open market. you keep acting as if sammy was elite. he wasn't. he's just being paid like one now by kc. it still doesn't make him the best. i hope for his sake he does well, but this could totally blow up in their faces. if sammy has yet another average season, what will your excuse be then?

do you not understand? sammy would have hit the open market, and do you really think the bills would have signed watkins, a guy who they were already lukewarm on, and didn't have great numbers, that kind of contract? they were able to get a 2nd for christ's sakes! well worth the trade. don't get me wrong...i'm glad for sammy. he doesn't have to worry about money anymore. he may have been the worst. i don't know why sammy getting a shockingly big contract proves anything for people. what if his numbers are average again next year? what excuses then. i think there's scenario where watkins can put up big numbers, but i'm not sure kc is it.

Why? Because he was one of the ones screaming loudest against the trade. He even went as far as telling us that the reasons Watkins numbers weren’t special was because Goff was a worse qb than tt, and that Goff was being coached not to throw to Sammy. The bills did the right thing by trading Sammy and getting the 2nd. The people that won’t admit that they were wrong about criticizing the trade, are the same ones who are excited they guessed his contract correctly. Big !@#$ing deal.

this is starting to be a joke. i have no idea why some people are beating their chests over this. why...because you predicted sammy would get paid and he did? big deal. i feel it's the same people who were complaining the loudest about the trade are the ones who are trying to take this as a win for their side. it's really not. the bills were smart to trade sammy for a second. there was zero possibility that they were going to pony up this kind of money. kc decided to overpay for production at this point. the bills made the right decision, and the people that screamed the loudest were really just wasting their time.
