i wonder if it's "surge" pricing for the game. delta is starting direct flights from roch to las vegas next month, and it's cheaper than flying to kc.

oddly enough, rochester has one of the best small market airports...https://10best.usatoday.com/awards/travel/best-small-airport-2024/ everything is newly updated, clean and efficient. the state just keeps giving the money for improvement, so they keep upgrading. i love flying in and out of it due to ease...it's just expensive.

just checked rochester to kc. for one adult ticket it starts at $750 and most are in the $880 range. There are a number of tickets that go above 1 thousand, but $800-ish seems accurate.

i'm not sure if it has changed much, but rochester is/was one of the more expensive markets to fly out of because of the small size. to spend $3200 on a family of 4 to go to missouri seem insane to me too. if you book last minute with specific times, it gets pricey.

from us though it's about a 4 hour drive. there's just no easy way to get to kc from our area. they do have a lot of random direct or easy flight to the south east this time of year. toronto would likely be the other option. what was strange is that my wife was questioning me as to why i'm not going. knowing that, if the bills win, i may look into going to the super bowl. it will cost, but i'm much more willing to throw money at that than an away afc championship game.

our daughter's friend and their family decided to go over the last day or two. i was told they spent $300-400 on tickets, (there are 4 of them) and the flights were about $800 a seat. I assume they're flying out of rochester, but possibly buffalo.
