Just to be clear I wasn’t talking about last night. I only saw the 1st period so I can’t say really what the issue was. I was just talking about in general this season. It’s happened in a few games I’ve watched. Yeah, I’m sure some of it is definitely the other team pushing (especially more talented teams) but at times you can also see the style of hockey change for Buffalo. They go from carrying the puck in and attacking, cycling the zone, etc. to just kind of chipping it in then sitting back on their heels to defend + protect a lead.
-
agreed. They also have a tendency at times to stop attacking when they get the lead. They’ll kind of stop pushing on offense, just continually chip pucks into the neutral zone and let the other team keep attacking them. It drives me nuts. They need to learn how to finish out games.

AB not wanting to be a distraction is about as laughable as is gets 🤣 If he was actually vaccinated, it would be super easy for him to prove and win his appeal. He’s not eating 3 games worth of salary because he’s innocent and AB doesn’t want to be a distraction. There’s no doubt he used a fake vaccine card. But he may actually be vaccinated now. My guess as to what most likely happened is he used a fake vaccine card then when his personal chef spilled the beans he ran and got vaccinated for real.

Don’t know what his stats are like but he can’t be worse than Dell, right? Well, maybe he can... lol

glad to finally have him back!

I hate both teams with a passion but the Bills winning the division is my #1 priority so I’m rooting for Tennessee. -
Really enjoyed that win last night. I see what looks like actual progress with this team and our young guys seem to be developing. Can’t wait until they get Mittelstadt back in the lineup.

11/25/21 Thanksgiving Gameday Bills at Saints Pregame Thread
BillsFan4 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah it was a tough watch, but also interesting seeing some of the behind the scenes details and it was cool to see Frank Reich eating at Chef’s with Bruce Smith and Steve Tasker. It sucked hearing Reich’s post game speech about “total domination in all 3 phases” (but he was right). Also wasn’t crazy about hearing that D line coach (or whoever it was) saying that if they force Allen to be a pocket passer they win the game. I hope Allen uses that as billboard material. -
Just FYI: The Buffalo Bills game should be airing in 4k on the fox sports app this Thursday. it’s the only Bills (regular season) game this season that’s being shown in 4k. edit - I lied. None of the games are in 4k on the fox sports app today. They’re not broadcasting any thanksgiving games in 4k. Disappointing! So no regular season Bills games in 4k this year.

Back to back games. They play again tonight and Anderson is still hurt. I haven’t got to watch Rochester play much this year but from what I’ve heard/read, and looking at his stats, it sounds/looks like UPL has been pretty up and down this year. https://theahl.com/stats/player/7644 I know he started out the year kinda rough. Then I know he had a good stretch because he was named AHL player of the week. Looking at his most recent game stats it looks like he may be struggling again the last few games. I’m anxious to see UPL too but I don’t know that his play has really warranted a call up. I think they probably want him to at least establish himself as a good AHL starter before being put in the NHL.

You gotta be *&$#@#$ kidding me! They lost with 0.4 seconds left. 🤬 today was not a fun day in Buffalo professional sports.

I never really felt like they were a Super Bowl contender this season. Maybe after the KC game but that was about it. The defense has played well for the most part (outside of a couple bad games and/or quarters) but I think the offense has struggled too often. I don’t care what the stats say, they don’t look like a top 5 offense in the NFL. I don’t even know if the Bills are the best team in their division right now. The Patriots are getting better every week and keep on winning. If the Bills don’t win the division they could miss the playoffs completely. Especially with their dog **** conference record.

Those 2 games against New England are going to be crucial. Could be the difference between winning the division and missing the playoffs completely. -

Well, any talk about Bills being super bowl favorites should officially be dead after this game. This isn’t a super bowl team. I don’t even know if they’re the best team in the AFC East. If the Bills don’t win the division they could even miss the playoffs all together. -
I wonder if this means that Spencer Brown is out for at least the next 2 games (10 days). I hope not. Hopefully it’s just a depth signing.

It’s f’ed up enough that he used a fake vaccine card, but what makes it Really ****** up is that Bruce Arians has all those health issues and is high risk for covid (even with the vaccine). I wonder if AB would even care if he put Arians life in danger. It appears not...(if this is actually true) Someone on Reddit keeps a running list of all AB’s issues. It’s a pretty long read. 😂

I think it’s both. Learning to read a defense is definitely something that is taught but I also think it’s something that improves through time. Coaches teach QBs how to read different defensive coverages, where their passing windows are, how to identify reads and pre + post snap coverages, etc. for ex: https://www.collegeandmagnolia.com/2015/7/27/8974817/how-gus-malzahn-teaches-quarterbacks-to-recognize-defensive-coverages But I do think that some QBs are more naturally gifted at it. Some just seem to be able to process what they’re seeing quicker than others. Jones does seem gifted when it comes to processing the game. But I’m also sure it’s helped him to be around 2 of the best defensive minds in football (Saban and Belichick). I’d imagine both had plenty of pointers on how to dissect a defense. and he sounds like a student of the game who puts in a ton of work (always in the playbook, always studying film, always practicing). Josh Allen has talked about how much Brian Daboll has helped him understand how to read defenses and what cues to look for, how to dissect coverages, etc. He said his intimate knowledge on the workings of the defense (from being a defensive coach) has been invaluable. He also talked about how different people have helped him learn how to watch film “better”. He didn’t receive much high level coaching before the NFL though, so he was behind the curve. Yeah the Buffalo vs. New England games this year are going to be really exciting (and nerve-racking I’m sure). Those 2 games are going to be crucial for either team to win the division, and maybe even make the playoffs with how jumbled the AFC standings are this year. I could definitely see us splitting those 2 games (1-1).

Spencer Brown placed on Covid List [Edit: Thurs 11/18]

I totally 100% agree that the o line has to be a priority this offseason. But I wouldn’t necessarily say Beane has failed so far. He did rebuild the o-line in a single offseason before. Maybe not into an elite unit but it was functional. He’s had some hits and misses on the o line, and he messed up this year by not addressing the interior in a more meaningful way. But I’m not sure we can blame him for Daryl Williams falling off a cliff at RT. I think we were all pretty happy when Williams was re-signed this offseason. -
I agree that many college QBs fail because they’re set up to fail by the teams that draft them. Also agree that the Patriots know how to put a QB in position to have success (better than most teams do, if not all). Not sure I agree that you can’t teach a player how to process what they’re seeing faster. We see QBs improve on that all the time. Look at Josh Allen from year 1 to 2 to 3. We see a lot of young QBs come into the NFL and have trouble getting through their reads, only to improve over time. Even the best QBs improved at more quickly processing what they see over time. I watched Tom Brady greatly improve at it over the years. Some of it just comes down to experience with NFL defensive looks and film study (etc). Now obviously not every QB can improve in that area. Many never do. But it is an area of common improvement for many starting NFL QBs IMO. I do think that Mac Jones appears to be way ahead of the curve at processing what he’s seeing as a rookie. Is it at a special level? I think that’s TBD. I have no issue saying that I’m worried about how good this kid is going to be. I hate that he fell right into NE’s lap, especially without even having to trade up! 🤬 😂. He’s such a perfect fit for your team and looks like he could be really good for many years to come. As a rookie he’s already the 2nd best QB in the AFCE. Im really anxious to see how he does against the Bills defense. They’re excellent at disguising coverage. It’ll be a good test for Jones, and the Bills too. The battle for the AFCE this year could be really intense between the Bills and Pats. Should be interesting for sure.

Spencer Brown placed on Covid List [Edit: Thurs 11/18]
BillsFan4 replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, or if he’s asymptomatic or has a very mild case. He’s need 2 negative tests 24 hours apart and would also have to be symptom free for 48 hours (so basically if he’s symptom free tomorrow and Saturday + tests negative those 2 days he can play Sunday). Definitely a long shot for Sunday if he actually had covid, even if vaxxed. But if he’s not vaccinated, he’s very likely out for next Thursday’s game too. (minimum 10 days). Unless he’s unvaxxed and was just deemed a close contact of a covid positive (5 days out) but I’m doubtful that’s the case because nobody new went on the covid protocol list yesterday afaik. Regardless of vaccine status, I just hope he’s ok. I hope he has a very mild case (if he actually had covid) and feels better soon. -
kurt Warner seems impressed.

Man I sure hope he can be cleared to play by Sunday. Bills need him desperately. If he’s vaccinated he has a chance. If not, unfortunately we know for sure he’s out for (at least) the next 2 games (10 days from today, minimum).
