  1. http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-prospect-devon-levi-wants-to-feel-that-pressure-at-northeastern/ Adams also mentioned Ryan Johnson and Portillo: Not sure I agree with Adams on this. There is big potential downside - Both could turn UFA after next season and Buffalo could lose them for nothing. Johnson was a 1st round pick and would be going into his senior season. But I guess Kevyn Adams doesn’t really gain anything by telling the press he’s not ok with either guy going back to school. It could hurt any trade leverage with other teams. He also may not have the same “Buffalo fan syndrome” fears of players spurning Buffalo that some of us fans do. It’ll be interesting to see what both players decide. It seems to me like Buffalo wants both to turn pro this year. Adams can try to sell it any way he wants, but there’s no way he wants Portillo going back to school for another year, then having both him and Levi sign next offseason. He’s already said that’s not ideal.
  2. I mean, if Luukkonen plays well enough in Buffalo to hold down a starting role, and Portillo plays so well in Rochester that he earns a chance to compete for the backup role in Buffalo, that would at least open a spot for Levi in Rochester. It might make things more complicated in the future though. But I don’t really see Portillo being ready for Buffalo after 1 season in Rochester. Nor do I see Levi being ready to go right from college to the NHL (in a backup role). So I think most likely you just Let Portillo and Levi battle for the starting role in Rochester and whoever loses can be the back up or go to Cincinnati (ECHL) to start.
  3. This thread just took a sharp Q (anon) turn… 😂
  4. Now they need to make sure they get Portillo signed. Its actually more important they get him signed this offseason than Levi anyway. Portillo can choose to turn UFA after next season (if he leaves college). It would actually be for the best if they can get Portillo signed this year and Levi next year. Signing both this offseason would have made it difficult to get both playing time in Rochester. One maybe would’ve had to go to the ECHL. It could still be complicated next year too. But that would be a good problem to have.
  5. Well that sucks. If I were Adams, I’d be trying my best to find out if actually he’s willing to sign here at all. If not, I think they obviously need to trade him sooner rather than later. I still want to see the Sabres try to sign him next offseason if he’s interested in signing here though. They’d still have all of next season to trade him. I hate this stupid college free agent rule. IMO if they choose not to sign with the team that holds their rights, they should have to re-enter the draft. They shouldn’t get to turn UFA. They haven’t earned that right IMO. NHL players have to put in 7 seasons before they get UFA rights.
  6. Yeah he was great in that interview. I could definitely see a career as a Tv analyst in his future if he chooses to pursue it.
  7. Aw man, what a terrible time for a penalty. 2:58 left, down by a goal. Bummer. Well, win or lose at least they made it an exciting game. edit - are you kidding. Another penalty against Buffalo. I think that pretty much seals it.

  9. 😂 Yeah I have a dry pantry and plenty of food in my house to last a month +. My pantry is actually too full. Mostly from me buying things I thought I needed but already had at home 😂
  10. No, I’m not a doomsday prepper. 😂 (anyone remember that show?) I see zero reason to stock up on food. When I need more food I just go to one of the many supermarkets with shelves full of food 🤷‍♂️
  11. I used to go all the time before the pandemic and always loved NYC. It’s such a unique place. There’s always so much to do. I have a couple cousins who live there. They are musicians and play multiple shows per week. So I’d usually hang out with them if I had time on my trips. It helps when you have locals to show you around. They were always taking me to see/do something cool.
  12. Man, what a game! And what a way to send RJ off into retirement! I was so happy for him. I’m also glad this new young generation of players got to see what the arena could be like if they start winning again. Hopefully it gives them a bit more motivation to continue turning this franchise around.
  13. Damn, that sucks. Not sure I’d say the athletic beats them, though. I had a billing issue with the athletic and could not for the life of me talk to a live person. The closest they have is a bot that answers all their emails. I could not find any way to talk to an actual person and eventually just gave up.
  14. It’s going to be so weird without RJ calling plays. He’s been doing the Sabres play-by-play my entire life. I remember always listening to games on the radio back before he took over the TV broadcasts in the mid-90’s. I was really hoping the Sabres could make the playoffs at least once more before he retired. But obviously that didn’t happen. I wonder if he would consider possibly coming out of retirement for at least one post-season game if the Sabres make it in the next couple/few years. That would be great!
  15. Good. At least he went to the NFC. I really didn’t want him landing on the Dolphins, Ravens or Chargers (all rumored to be interested).
  16. I can’t speak for others but I never once said, or implied, he was holding Bass back. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both times Bojo was released, holding ability was mentioned though. holding ability was also mentioned by Beane as one of the reasons he signed/kept Matt Haack. Mason Crosby mentioned issues with the hold after missed kicks too (and observers caught it on video. Laces in). It seems to clearly be something Bojo struggles to do consistently. I doubt it was the only reason he was released by GB and Buffalo. But I have to believe it factored into the decision.
  17. yep, I’m sure they ripped up a deal with a lower cap hit that was friendlier to the team and gave him the first fully guaranteed contract in NFL history just to get 5 years of control instead of 4… 🤦‍♂️
  18. You’re welcome (for the amusement 😂) ! I just thought it was interesting that GB moved on from Bojo for the same reasons we did when I read the comments from the Packers GM at the league owners meetings
  19. Another total horse **** shootout attempt to end the game. Blake Wheeler was pretty much going backwards by the end of that attempt! Ridiculous that stuff like that is allowed.
  20. Great start! Winnipeg looked overwhelmed for much of the period. Just keep it going!
  21. I was thinking the same exact thing reading through this thread.
  22. Is that $80 only for the first year? I’m guessing so. I know that’s how it works with their normal cable packages. For ex, the their base cable + internet package (with a cable box, not streaming) starts at $120/month but that’s only the price for the first year. Then it goes up to $200+ a month. If you’re getting a permanent $50/month discount I’d call spectrum and make sure that $80 is the long term price, not the new customer price for the 1st year. As far as the spectrum streaming app, it’s not bad. I use it on a couple of my TVs that don’t have cable boxes. As long as you have good internet speeds you shouldn’t have an issue streaming it. The app isn’t really available on many platforms though. Only Roku, Apple TV and Xbox afaik. Like I can’t download it on my fire stick or android (Sony) smart TV. definitely check how much data you use though. I don’t know how much data streaming uses. I don’t have a data cap. edit - I’ve also been a Verizon cell phone customer for decades and like their cell service.
  23. i am so sorry to hear this Limeaid. Such tragic news. My condolences to you and your family.
  24. I’m sure you’re probably not aware of this but It’s not really a choice to shave your head. Your hair falls out in big round patches, leaving these big smooth shiny spots of scalp and little patches of hair. The hair also usually doesn’t grow in right. It’ll get an inch or two (or 3) long then start falling out again in some spots. So if you don’t shave it, it can look odd having spots of hair that are 1/4” long and others that are 2” and others that are 5” (etc). My family member with alopecia shaves her head for a few reasons. 1) not a lot of choice when your hair is growing in like that. 2) it’s heart breaking to wake up every morning and have to see a new bald spot on your head. 3) it’s easier to wear wigs with a shaved head. I give Jada a lot of credit for going to the Oscar’s without a wig or any type of head wrap. My family member w/alopecia hasn’t reached that point yet where she feels comfortable in public without a wig (and she’s had it for decades). That’s a courageous step IMO.
  25. yeah that actually makes sense that he didn’t know looking at the way he responded to the crowd’s reaction to the joke. When he made the joke and some of the crowd kind of went “yikes” or whatever, he just shrugged his shoulders and said “what? That was a nice one!” or something to that effect.
