  1. this one wasn’t as bad as some of the others as far as pushing the limits of the forward momentum rule. But it’s still BS. A goalie doesn’t really stand a chance on an attempt like this. I really feel like they either need a shot clock on SO attempts or to send a defenseman to chase the shooter after he crosses the blue line.
  2. 😢 Canada is having a national funeral for him on May 3rd. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/guy-lafleur-national-funeral-may-3-1.6429306
  3. Yep. It all comes down to that game for Vegas. If they win they will be 1 point behind Dallas for the final wildcard spot. If they lose that’s pretty much it for them. Right now: LA sits in the 3rd playoff spot in the Pacific with 96pts. Nashville is in the 1st wildcard spot with 94pts. Dallas is in the final wildcard spot with 93pts. Vegas is chasing with 90pts. LA has 2 games left. The rest have 3. If Dallas wins tomorrow I don’t think Vegas can catch them. It’s more/less a 4 point game. Dallas would be at 95pts with a win tomorrow. Vegas would only have 2 games left. If Dallas wins in regulation I think that would be it for Vegas. At this point the 3rd spot in the pacific looks like it’s the Kings. If LV happens to make the playoffs, they’ll likely face Colorado in the 1st round. If they lose in the 1st round their pick would only be a spot or two higher than if they missed the playoffs completely. So even if they make it we still have decent odds at getting a pick in the teens. Yeah, he will either win you OT with an amazing play or lose you OT with a horrible play (usually a very ill advised backhand pass right to the other team, or drop pass at the blue line with no one back to protect).
  4. one of the things I love about hockey!
  5. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/video/pierre-luc-dubois-long-term-future-jets/ sounds like Robin Lehner almost quit on this season after DeBoer criticized him to the media. Don't miss him at all.
  6. Another nice win today! I got a little nervous when the NYI came back from a 4-1 deficit and made it 4-3 but then Skinner scored to make it 5-3 and that kind of killed the NYI push. It was cool to see Buffalo kind of overwhelming the NYI with their forecheck like they used to do to us!
  7. Yep, exactly. It kind of weeds out the guys who want to play in cities for other reasons than football. (For ex: like all the players who want to go to Maimi for the weather + nightlife).
  8. love this clip!! And Josh Allen! 😁 I said something similar when McDermott and Beane were first hired - that Buffalo was the perfect spot for the type of team they wanted to build and that they could actually use it to their advantage. Being in a small city like Buffalo, you aren’t going to attract players looking for all the off-field stuff (clubs, nightlife, etc) or the nice weather like you do in other cities. If a player is coming here, it’s to play football. I felt like it could be used as an advantage with team building and felt Beane + McDermott were the perfect guys to take advantage of it with the type of player personality traits they were looking for. Very happy it’s worked out so well!
  9. Not surprised. He doesn’t sound like a culture fit for Schoen and Daboll.
  10. I said the same thing recently. I know they’re playing better because I actually don’t want the season to end 😂 That’s the first time I could honestly say that in years!
  11. You already know that dude is going to sue the **** out of Tyson.
  12. That OT win by Vegas was pretty big as far as the playoff race goes. Vegas vs Dallas on Tuesday is going to be huge. Kind of a 4 point game. It’ll likely play a large role in deciding which team makes the playoffs. Go Dallas!!
  13. Still hoping the Bills find a way to get Bradberry. Much rather have him than Haden (at this point in his career). Bradberry had a bit of a down year last year but in 2020 he was a top 5-10 CB in the NFL.
  14. I honestly don’t understand how that goal counted 🤷‍♂️ He 100% lost forward momentum. He was going backwards ffs. I don’t get why they interpret the rule that a player doesn’t lose forward momentum as long as he keeps moving. How can you keep forward momentum moving backwards? Glad the Amerks won though! They had to win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
  15. Yeah I’m guessing this is contract related too. I also remember reading rumors that Poyer almost held out of training camp the last time he wanted a new deal and Hyde talked him out of it. It’ll be very interesting to see if he shows for the mandatory offseason stuff without a new deal. Especially with Rachael in his ear… lol.
  16. The race for the playoffs in the Pacific division is getting really interesting. Nashville- 76 games played 91pts (41 regulation/overtime wins) Dallas- 76 games played 91pts (39 ROW) Kings- 77 games played 90pts(36 ROW) Vegas- 77 games played 87pts (37 ROW) Canucks- 76 games played 86pts (35 ROW) Dallas and Nashville are 4pts ahead of Vegas with 1 game in hand. LA won their last game but they’re 4-5-1 in their last 10. Vegas could still pass them for 3rd in the division. But now Vancouver has been on a real hot streak lately. They won again last night, while Vegas lost to New Jersey. The Canucks now sit 1pt behind Vegas with 1 game in hand. Its going to be a really interesting last 5-6 games. I’m still not getting my hopes up yet about Vegas missing though. We are Sabres fans after all. Murphy’s law usually applies to us.
  17. Not so sure about the Jets… 😂 https://www.fanduel.com/theduel/posts/jets-turned-down-free-agents-nfl-insider-01g0chdsaecx Sounds like they’ve gone after pretty much all the top guys but got rejected by everyone. i guess reportedly woody Johnson is starting to get impatient. They said his brother Chris had a lot more patience but now that Woody’s back he’s already losing his patience with the slow rebuild.
  18. Seems like a lot of money for a guy who I’d argue isn’t even a top 5 CB. I’d put him somewhere in the 7-10 range. Cleveland really throwing around the guaranteed money this offseason!
  19. He says he’s headed to LA to be on America’s got talent.
  20. Thanks Gunner! I look forward to reading your Qb evaluations every year.
  21. Yes the VGK pick is top 10 protected. The pic currently sits at #16 if they miss the playoffs. Even if they make it the pick could still be decent if they’re eliminated in the first 2 rounds. I don’t know of a goalie available for trade that would be worth that type of draft pick though. Zero interest in trading a #16 overall pick for any goalie that isn’t elite. We could still get a pretty good player in this draft with that pick. The 2nd tier of talent looks like it runs into the late teens and you never know who could fall. I’d maybe consider trading the later of the two 1sts depending on the goalie. The Florida pick looks like it could be 27-31. I think John Gibson might be available (Anaheim) but I’m not giving up a top 20 pick for him. I also think Georgiev is available (NYR) but he was really no better than what we already have. I’m not sure of any others off hand. I’m sure there’s probably more. As far as free agents there’s a few: -Fleury (doubtful he would come here. Maybe if we overpay) - Kuemper (yes, but not for crazy $) - Holtby (same) - Jack Campbell (same) - Koskinen (could do worse) - Korpisalo (no thanks) - Halak - Schneider - Jones - Greiss Fleury, Kuemper, Holtby, Campbell would all be better than what we had. Koskinen maybe slightly. The rest would be meh.
  22. Definitely need a goalie. That has to be priority #1 this offseason. I read they want to bring Anderson back but he’s unsure if he will retire or come back. I sure hope they are reconsidering that. I know they love how Anderson is like a father figure + mentor + calming presence to the team, and I know they are hoping UPL earns the starter role next season but you need a better backup plan than Anderson IMO. He used to be a very good goalie but I think about the best you can expect from him now is for him to continue being a roughly .900 save % goalie (like he’s been the past few seasons). https://www.nhl.com/player/craig-anderson-8467950 this year he’s at .896 They need someone that can at least give them league average goaltending (.910). Slightly above average (.915) would be even better. I don’t think that’s asking/expecting too much. This team with league average goaltending might have even been in the playoff race. I think they’ve been at a 95+ point pace pretty much ever since Anderson came back from injury and at least provided semi-competent goaltending (compared to what they had while he was injured anyway). I’m confident Tokarski won’t be back, at least in the NHL. I could see him in Rochester. But I’m hoping they are rethinking the Anderson thing. Or Anderson saves them and retires 😂 I still think Levi and/or Portillo are the future but like you said they are years away (assuming both sign here and don’t choose the free agent route). It would be great if UPL turned into a decent starter until then but I can’t figure him out. I thought he looked good in his short time in Buffalo but he’s struggled enough in the AHL that I don’t think you can rely on him to be a starter in Buffalo.
