  1. I'm not sure how to feel about this game tonight. I want the best odds at Dahlin, but I also hate the stigma that comes with finishing in last place. But even if we finish last last I have about zero faith/hope that they actually win the damn draft lottery. We've been totally screwed by it every year. I don't know if I'll ever get over the McDavid loss (maybe once the Sabres become a good team, if that ever happens...). Dahlin would sure help. I feel like we are due for a draft lottery lottery win though, and the odds did go up this year from 18% to 18.5% (assuming it passes the vote). Still not as good as the Maple Leafs 20% odds in 2016. But the 18.5% last place odds Are better than the 13.5% odds you get as the 2nd last place team... If we lose tonight, last place is locked in. Even if we win in regulation we are still 1 point behind Ottawa. Tonight is probably their last chance at a win for this season though. They play Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Boston... Ultimately, I'll take the best odds at Dahlin. Buffalo could probably use him more than any other team in the NHL. But if we don't get him, Boqvist wouldn't be a bad consolation prize... this looks like a great year to need a defenseman. There are as many as 5 ranked in the top 10 of the draft.
  2. This Giovanni Feroce guy sounds like a real piece of work... http://www.providencejournal.com/news/20180320/creditors-swarm-over-feroces-financials-as-former-benrus-ceo-still-plans-run-for-governor There seem to be a LOT of people after this guy. Seems like every business he's owned has ended in him screwing someone over, and/or leaving huge unpaid debts. He didn't even pay the snow removal company he hired to plow his driveway (at his mansion that was also foreclosed upon...lol).
  3. We really have no idea where most GMs have Allen ranked. The media talking heads are just guessing, or maybe being fed fake information. They are wrong in their QB ranking almost every single year. Allen very well could be ranked #1 or #2 by most GMs, but we simply dont know right now. There is sooooo much misinformation out there at this time of year. And some of the talent evaluators I respect the most (like Daniel Jeremiah for example) have Allen ranked as the #4 QB in this draft. If we draft Allen, I will be on board. There are definitely things to like about his game, and as I've said numerous times on here - his ceiling is sky high. If you hit on him you're set for a decade. But personally, I just see him as a bigger gamble than a guy like Darnold or Rosen.
  4. I can't see the Bills trading up to #2 for Allen. If theyre trading to #2, IMO it has to be for Rosen/Darnold. Maybe Mafield. Allen just seems like too big of a project to trade up to #2 for. But ivd bee weong before, so who knows.
  5. That was a pretty quick circle back Ryan Talbot... lol.
  6. Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm glad we look to be taking our shot on a QB in this draft as opposed to last year's draft. This is exactly what I wanted last year. I felt it was a weaker QB draft last season compared to this season. I wanted the Bills to wait and take their shot on a QB this year. I am far from sold on Mahomes, and we will see on Watson. He played well in his very limited time starting but let's see what he does when teams start specifically game planning for him. Plus he already has blown out an ACL in both knees now IIRC. That could become an issue for a mobile QB. So, as of now, no I wouldn't trade Tre White and our 1sts this year for Mahomes/Watson. I'm still hoping we can trade those 1sts and move up for Rosen/Darnold - both of which I would easily take over any QB in last year's draft. I'd take Mayfield over Mahomes/Watson too. Daniel Jeremiah (who's very well respected in NFL circles, and who's word I value quite a bit) has 4 of the top 6 QBs of the last 3 years in this draft - Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Allen. Watson is rated #7, and Mahomes doesn't even make the list... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000922045/article/top-10-qb-prospects-of-past-3-nfl-draft-classes-darnold-no-1
  7. He was specifically asked about trading up to pick #7 by whatever reporter asked the question (can't remember who it was).
  8. If they were targeting Barkley, I don't think they would have traded up to #3 6 weeks before the draft. The Giants very well could take him at 2 and then what? It makes a lot more sense that they are comfortable with any of the top 3/4 QBs (as has been reported to death) and traded up to guarantee they land 1 of them. Also, Todd Bowles said that McCown will enter training camp as the starting QB but that he is not guaranteed to start the season. He said there will be competition for the spot, which is likely why Bridgewater chose to sign there (that, and there wasn't much interest in him. The Jets were his best shot to start next season). Mike Maccagnan has pretty much admitted he's drafting a QB. He said back in January that he was willing to trade up for a quarterback. Then after he made the trade he said he's not scared of taking a swing on another QB. All reports say that Maccagnan targeted this QB class a year ago, and sold Woody Johnson on doing whatever it took to land one of the top 4 QBs, and much of what they've done matches up with this - passing on Mahomes/Watson last year, dumping all those good veteran players this past season (hence all the "Jets are tanking" talk). Theyve been heavily scouting this QB class all year. They've met with all the top QBs multiple times. Maccagnan himself has been attending their pro days. I am 100% positive the Jets take a QB. I'd be willing to bet any sum of money on it.
  9. Didn't believe it for a second.
  10. All I was hoping for from Mittelstadt this season was to look like he belongs, and so far so good. Ive actually been very impressed by him. Most young rookies usually look kind of scared in their first # of games, and even their 1st season in some cases. They will treat the puck like a "hot potato". As soon as it hits their stick, they're looking to get rid of it. You'll also see them shying away from hits, being hesitant to fly into the corners and retrieve the puck and stuff like that. I really haven't seen much of that at all from Mittelstadt. He looks very comfortable on the ice, especially for a 19yr old rookie with no pro experience (I mean, he was playing in High Shool barely over a year ago!). I love the speed he plays with, and how relentless he is attacking the puck and backchecking. Eichel could use some more of that in his game (he would be unstoppable!). His passing and vision has been really impressive as well. Im cautiously optimistic that we got a real good one with him.
  11. I know the Eagles traded up to #2 around April 20th (about a week before the draft) but by that point everyone kind of already knew that Goff was the Rams guy, so the Eagles felt very comfortable trading to #2 to get their guy Wentz (and they said as much). But the Jets on the other hand.... they seem to have no clue what 2 QBs could be off the board before they pick. Especially since the trade was made 6 weeks out from the draft, before teams even had their visits scheduled with these prospects, or held private workouts etc. I've said all along that I thought their trade to #3 was a reckless move (and most likely made by a guy who is desperate to keep his job). The chances of THREE quarterbacks in this draft being worth the haul of picks the Jets gave up (4 top 49 picks) are pretty slim. The odds are definitely against it. But the Jets seem content to just throw a dart at any one of the top 3 QBs in this draft (which seems kinda crazy to me...)
  12. Maybe someone can answer this, as I'm not really sure - Has any team ever traded up to the #3 overall pick this far out from the draft before (about 6 weeks) like the Jets just did? I cant remember it happening before but I may just be forgetting...
  13. So much of what this guy says is self serving in some way, and it always seems like he's trying to pass the blame or make excuses for his career as a HC. I am so glad this guy isn't our coach anymore. Now if only they'd stop asking him about the Bills...
  14. I thought I read somewhere that the video was filmed months before it went public?
  15. He also said on NFL network that he would take Rosen over ANY QB in this draft class. But of course you don't post that...
  16. I could care less which one is more "blue collar". I only care what he does on the field. Just give me the best possible QB.
  17. I still get choked up watching that video.... Any Bills fans here asking "was it worth making the playoffs?", watch this video. Watch Kyle Williams reaction. Watch fellow Bills fans reactions. Watch all the grown men and women brought to tears. Look at what it meant to this entire city and collective fan base. Yes, it was worth making the playoffs.
  18. The first link he provided actually debunks some of the Rosen myths and defends him for all the comments that have been taken out of context (I think maybe he only read the headline before posting it, because it actually goes against his argument IMO...). The other 2 basically boil down to this - he wore a F Trump hat, had a hot tub in his room and rearranged some lawn ornaments... oh the horror! lol
  19. Definitely could be the case. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Mittelstadt was leaning toward going back to school another year and this is ultimately what enticed him to sign. Botterill may have offered him the Will Borgen deal - ATO this year and an ELC that kicks in next year. Or it it could be that Botterill either 1) thought getting Mittelstadt some NHL games this year would allow him to best prepare this summer for an NHL gig next year. Or 2) wanted to see how close Mittelstadt was to being ready for a full time NHL job so he knew better what he has for next year, and possibly so he knows if he can trade a guy like ROR without leaving a huge hole at #2 C (or a combination of all of the above). Jason Botterill is scheduled to give a press conference later today, so maybe we find out a little more then (although I doubt Botterill would actually admit "yeah we wanted him in the AHL but this is the only way we could get him signed"... lol). Ultimately, I don't know if burning a year off his ELC is really that big of a deal anyway. If he turns out to be really great, we will be paying him no matter what (and if he turns out to quickly be a franchise guy like Eichel, it's likely they give him a new deal as soon as he's eligible - after 2yrs - anyway). And if he's a slower developer, his next deal will just be cheaper for the Sabres. Plus They can still send him to the AHL next year if need be. This year doesn't count toward the expansion draft, so he will still be exempt in 2020, and he won't have arbitration rights or the ability to sign an offer sheet when the ELC is up. Id still have preferred not to burn an ELC year and earn his stripes in the AHL but it's nothing I'm upset over. I'm actually very excited to see him play!
  20. You never know with how desperate NFL teams are to find their QB... but I'll be a bit surprised if any team takes a chance on Manziel yet. I believe I read that he only has all of 3 months sober. Those first few few months of sobriety can be like the "honeymoon phase" where being newly clean and clear headed feels great. Then that feeling wears off and the cravings are still there - that's when we find out if Manziel is for real about wanting to stay sober. We wont know until he hits some bumps in the road. I'm not sure the NFL is the best place for him right now anyway, for his long term sobriety. All the pressure, the easy access to pain meds from team doctors, and drugs in general that can come with a famous lifestyle (from team docs, fellow players, wanna-be's who like to hang with famous people etc etc)...
  21. Fair enough. I have a different opinion on him and Rosen. But I am intrigued by Rudolph. I's prefer to land one of the top 4 QBs but I'd give very strong consideration to him and Jackson if that's not possible. IMO I think Rosen is clearly a better QB prospect than Rudolph. But what I question is - is Rosen that much better than Rudolph + all the picks we could surround him with if we didn't trade up? I still don't understand why you'd say that you would question if you'd support Rosen as the Bills QB if it's not about politics? If its truly just about your concerns over his injuries and his on field performance I don't see why you'd have to question whether or not you'd support him/The Bills if they drafted him. But that's your business, not mine so... all I know is that hat I will support whatever QB the Bills draft and give him a fair chance, even if it's not the one I want.
  22. Yay. Excited to see him play. Sucks that they burn a year off his entry level contract though (even though he won't play more than 9 game in Buffalo. Because of his age, there is some stupid rule that if he plays even 1 NHL game this year it burns a year off his ELC). But it sounds like he will will still be exempt from a 2020 expansion draft, so that's good.
  23. Ok, if that's why you don't like him, then why did you say that you would question whether you'd support him as the Bills QB? If it's only because you are worried about if he is fragile or a team leader? BTW Here's what his actual teammates had to say on that whole narrative (to save you time, its BS) - http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000918506/article/exucla-teammate-calls-josh-rosen-onceinamillennium-qb https://www.ndtscouting.com/ledyard-time-to-bury-josh-rosen-character-slander-once-and-for-all/ http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/03/josh_rosen_and_baker_mayfield.html I like how you only posted the weakness part of Josh Rosen's NFL draft profile. But you left out all the good stuff. Find me one QB in any draft that didn't have weaknesses in their draft profile. Go back and read what they've said about other top QBs in the NFL before they were drafted. I can do the same with Mason Rudolph... Heres his negatives from his scouting report- Sounds like a WB projected to go day 2, to me. WEAKNESSES Over-strides at times. Rarely drives lower body through the throw causing ball to sail and float. May not generate enough velocity to beat ball-hawking corners who strangle passing windows. Field-side outs will be a challenge. Needs throws to stay on schedule. Needs to throw with better timing and placement on comeback and outs. Defaults to off-platform throws when he has time to step and deliver. Ball placement and decision making can run askew when forced to scramble from pocket. Ball will come out wobbly at times. Inexperienced as rollout passer. Benefitted from ball-winning targets downfield. Wasn't asked to get through many progressions in the offense. Has had ball security issues as a starter. DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 2-3 SOURCES TELL US "If you spoke with ten different scouts you would get at least four different opinions about him. I've just seen too many of those system quarterbacks struggle to make it in the league so I'm hesitant [/B]to buy in. He has gotten better this year." -- NFC team regional scout NFL COMPARISON Christian Ponder [/B]BOTTOM LINE Pocket quarterback with good size who has shown consistent improvement as a passer. Rudolph is more of a downfield, play-action passer than a quarterback who can win with precision and arm strength. He's a capable field reader who has the ability to operate with timing which will be important since his arm can be dull at times. Rudolph could be an early backup with the potential of becoming an average to below average starter in the league. Sounds to me like a system QB that was surrounded by some excellent talent, who doesn't have a great shot at being a true NFL franchise QB... There's a reason why Rudolph isn't being talked about among the top QBs in this draft class.
