  1. Wow, how did I not see this thread until now? Amazing work Gunner. I loved reading your analysis. Better than most of the draft analyst's write ups that I've seen. You cemented my stance of wanting either Rosen or Darnold. I wanted Rosen pretty bad already. Your analysis helps confirm what my amateur eyes have seen, and now I want him even more. If Beane and McDermott vet him and are comfortable with him, I hope they do whatever they can to go up and get him! Don't mess around hoping he drops. Trade to 2/4/5/6/7 and grab him! It would be a dream come true to have a QB with his potential in a Bills uniform. I would be just as happy with Darnold though. I haven't focused on him quite as much because I never really felt like we had a shot at him, with him going #1 to Cleveland seeming to be a wide spread belief. But as the draft process has went on, I am less sure Cleveland take some him #1 so I've started to look at him a bit more. Im scared to get my hopes up on either one though, since I have no clue who the Bills like or what they will do (or be able to do) on draft day. Probably a bit too late on that... Oh, and im even more scared of Allen than I already was, so thanks for making me worry even more about all those damn mock drafts where we pick him (and even trade up to do it). lol
  2. Oh yeah, that's right. They have that 23 pick, I forgot. Thanks.
  3. He could have had no interest being here. But even if so, it may have been mutual. My guess is that Buffalo just doesn't want a mobile QB like that. IMO everything they've done so far suggests they want more of a pocket passer. The QBs they've brought in - Peterman and Maccarron are both pocket passers. They were linked to Sam Bradford in free agency. They brought in Daboll who will run the EP offense and has favored pocket passers in his NFL career. They got rid of Tyrod even after making the playoffs with him. Almost brought in Brian Hoyer last year. We heard rumors of McD liking Trubisky last draft (and rumors of that being the only QB they were interested in drafting, and they did pass on both Mahomes and Watson who were sitting there for the taking). But I guess we will see next Thursday! I think you are right about Mayfield btw.
  4. Working out Falk is just more confirmation IMO that they want a true pocket passer QB, not a mobile type.
  5. This is what I think will happen. I know I've said this already, but IMO the Patriots moving up to the top of the draft for a QB makes no sense. Contract wise, Top 5 picks are a lot more expensive than later round picks. Why would the Pats give up all those draft picks (and we all know Belichick Loves his draft picks) to move way up to the top of the draft and get a QB just to have him sit behind Brady for the next how-many-ever years, instead of just drafting a guy with one of their multiple 2nds? IMO, a major trade up is the type of move you make when you need a starter immediately. They have the luxury of drafting a 2nd tier prospect, sitting him for a while and letting him learn from one of the best to ever play the position. They don't need a day 1 starter. I could see a slight trade up in front of Pittsburgh for Rudolph. But I don't see any way they even try to trade into the top 5. Plus, If Brady was (supposedly) bothered by Garoppolo, how would he feel about the Pats giving up a boat load of picks they could have used to immediately better the team in his final year, to get a high end QB prospect who won't start any time soon anyway? We've seen much lesser QBs get upset about trade up's (like Bradford, Smith etc). I imagine Brady would be pretty pissed off.
  6. You are missing a team. The Jets pick at 3. They are supposedly very high on Mayfield. We know for sure they are taking a QB at 3, we just don't know which. But my guess is Mayfield. So If arizona trades to 1 for Darnold, the Giants take Rosen at 2, Jets take Mayfield at 3, Browns take Allen at 4... we are in trouble. I dont see Arizona being able to outbid the Bills though. They don't have nearly as many picks as the Bills do. It's always a possibility though!
  7. A little surprising to me that some of these people who are getting upset over the things Rosen says, and calling him a cocky jerk, are not saying some of the same things about Mayfield. But anyway.... This guy really seems to take any perceived slight against him extremely personally. Hes going to get a TON more of those negative comments playing QB in the NFL than he did in college. I think it'll either drive him to be great or it will drive him nuts and get under his skin so much that it has a negative effect on him/his career. Not sure which.
  8. I would be absolutely shocked if Brady retired this season. And I may be in the minority here, but after watching him kick the Bills arse for the last 15 years, id actually rather not watch him walk away from the game still on top like he is now. It would be a heck of if a lot more satisfying to see him finally fall off that cliff and/or see the Bills start winning some games against the Pats while Brady is still their QB. Im not saying I'd be sad if he retired... not by any means. But it'd be more fun watching that dynasty crumble with Brady still on the field. His temper tantrums would be legendary I bet! lol
  9. This is what I was thinking. Buffalo's economy is doing much better than it has in quite a long time (since the mid 90's would be my guess). It has been continually growing in recent years. Buffalo is on the rebound!
  10. Good post Wicked. Honestly, I could are less about blue collar or white collar or any of that crap. Just give me the best QB on the field, who's going to give the Bills the best chance to win every Sunday. Thats the thing - if a QB wins a lot, nobody is going to care about much else. Everyone loves a winner.
  11. I don't really put any weight into anyone's mock drafts, as far as what players they have going to what teams. This study highlights why. The most accurate guys last year got 9 out of 32 right, and there were only 4 guys (out of roughly 100) that were even that accurate. Most fell somewhere in the range of hitting on 2 to 6 players to the right team. Mock drafts are fun and all (well, depending on who thy have mocked to th Bills! lol). I just don't put any real faith in what teams they have players going to.
  12. That was a good read. I suggest that anyone who is strongly against drafting Rosen should read this. I see many of the same things Cosell does when I watch Rosen play. He did a good job of highlighting Rosen's strengths IMO. Kind of debunks some of the stuff about Rosen's mobility, too.
  13. Do you know if he showed up today?
  14. That's interesting. I hadn't really heard that about Rosen. I tend to disagree, but I am not a professional scout. I just think he has a lot of room still to grow as a passer. I don't see why he can't continue to get better, but that's just me. I doubt that will come into play. At least I sure hope it doesn't. Political views would be a horrible reason to pass on any player. I'd be a bit scared for the future of the Bills if that were the case. Just looking at his time as owner though - Look what he let Rex Ryan do. That was a pretty controversial thing, giving that opening speech... that could have easily divided the fan base and Pegula never seemed bothered by it. He also fully supported his players when they chose to kneel and backed them publically, another controversial move that actually cost him some sponsors IIRC (I know that Veins, Veins, Veins place chose not to advertise with the Sabres for the season and spoke out against it. I'm not sure if there were any others).
  15. Retractable roof would be my choice. I have read talk of the possibility of a new stadium doubling as a convention center for Buffalo (since a new one is needed anyway), which would make a lot of sense. If it a avenue that can be used for much more than just football, that helps make the tax payer money that will be used more palatable. But i I do think the cold, snowy, windy Buffalo weather can also be used to our advantage (especially with McDermott following Belichick's lead and making his team practice out in the elements here). So a retractable roof would be the best of both worlds IMO.
  16. That would be great if he was (a sleeper). I've been impressed with AJ. He really seems like a team first guy. I remember the first interview he gave here, he said that if Nate or a rookie won the starting job he would do everything he could to help them along. I thought that was really cool.
  17. I hate these vague social media posts.
  18. Thanks for sharing. I thought they both said some good things. I will definitely be rooting for both AJ and Nate. Best case scenario for the Bills is one or both of these QBs showing that they are starting caliber. It would allow the Bills multiple options. Like for example if the guy we draft eventually wins the job, we have a good tradable asset. Ideally one of them wins the starting job this season and allows the rookie time to sit and learn.
  19. Thats fair. 2 and 3 are legitimate concerns. - Personally, I think his personality will change as he gets older. He reminds me a lot of a typical head strong 21yr old college kid right now. He's a smart kid. He will mature. Look at how much Jack Eichel has matured this season compared to the last 2. Its not like he has any reall off field issues. He just has a strong personality, which many QBs do. Tom Brady is legendary for it (and for being a giant A hole during practice and on the field). Aaron Rodgers has a very strong personality too. I don't see any reason to pass on one of the top QBs to hit the draft in years just because he has a few opinions I may or may not agree with... - Durability is my main concern with him too. But I think a lot of that can be mitigated with proper diet and training that he will receive in the NFL. He has the frame to be able to bulk up. I also think you can limit the risk by building a good o line in front of him. I think it's worth mentioning that Mayfield has had at least 3 concussions that I am aware of, and his style of play will make it harder to just build s good o line in front of him and limit that risk. He said, even after 2 concussions in 3 weeks, that he won't change his play style... - I'm not as worried about his lack of mobility (but I want/prefer a traditional pocket passer). He's good at stepping up and playing in the pocket and he's only going to get better at it as time goes on. He is a very efficient, accurate pocket QB. I see him being a guy who picks you apart from the pocket, like a Brady or Manning (I'm not at all saying he will be the next Brady or manning, just that he is similar to that style of traditional pocket QB). So I don't really need him to be mobile. Just keep learning & improving on how to play in the pocket. - I also think his decision making will get better in time, as far as knowing when to get rid of the ball. This is an issue with Darnold and Allen too. It's an issue with a lot of college QBs. The thing is, every QB in this draft has his worst. You are never going to get a perfect QB prospect. I just want to take a shot on one this year. The Bills have constantly passed on QBs over the years for one reason or another. I am not dead set on any QB in this draft. I'd prefer Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield. But I'd also be excited about Allen and even Rudolph. I'd definitely prefer one of the top 3, and if Rosen falls right into our lap there is no way that I am passing on him because of some perceived personality issues (which have been debunked time and again by many of his teammates). Give me any one of the top 3 (or 4) and I'm happy though!
  20. As Yolo said, he's his ambassador to the U.K., and they are also very good friends. Someone else said they are neighbors too (not sure if just a vacation property or what).
  21. Seems like the only real flaw people can find with Rosen are the things he's said, and the concussions. But even the people who knock Rosen for the things he's said will start by saying "he's the best passer in this draft" or something along those lines. He's a young kid. When I think another some of the stuff I used to say and do bad when I was his age... yeah. He's a smart kid. He will grow and mature. It would be so dumb (IMO) to pass on such a talented QB over some things he's said to the media.
  22. Well, I guess we may as well write this season off now...
  23. I have no idea if there is actually any truth to this article, but it was still a very interesting read. Tom Curran (Boston reporter) talks about the little coup that might be going on right now (with quotes from numerous Patriots players). He also claims that Tom Brady may be the one leading this minor revolt against Belichick, and discusses the huge significance of that. http://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/complexity-rob-gronkowski-situation-reflects-bigger-issues-facing-new-england-patriots like I said, I have no idea if it's true but it was definitely an interesting read IMO. Im sure the Pats will get over it and continue their winning ways, but there's always that small hope, right!
  24. Generational QB prospect? So in other words, he's a once in a generation QB and better than Luck, Wentz, Wilson, Newton, Stafford, Matt Ryan, or any other QB who has come out in the past 10 (ish) years...? He hasnt even played a single season in the NFL yet, and by all accounts he wouldn't even be one of the top 4 QBs this year. He also wasn't graded among the top 10 QBs in the past 3 drafts.
