Looking for a new TV, looking g for advice
BillsFan4 replied to mrags's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They both look like nice TVs. Let me ask - what's important to you in a new TV? What are you looking for? What type of features do you want? Also, do you game? Watch lots of movies? Mainly just watch basic tv? What devices, and how many total, will be hooked hooked up to the TV? (Ex - blue ray players, DVD players, game systems, receiver/sound system etc etc) just trying to get a better idea of what you want/need. -
Sabres & NHL 2017-18 - Entry Draft on June 22
BillsFan4 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Good. I hope that's true. That's the way it should be IMO. Theres no no reason to give ROR away just for the sake of change. He's a heck of a good player. One of the best 2 way C'a in the NHL. Unless Botterill gets a package back that clearly makes the Sabres a better team, I don't see a reason to move ROR. Thrres a lot of other guys higher on my list (to move) than O'Reilly. -
MMQB: The Jets' Long Road To Sam Darnold
BillsFan4 replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This article also seems to imply that it was down to Allen or Mayfield for the Browns. Or at least implies they like Allen a lot - -
Wow he handled that very well. Whoever that was asking questions is an idiot.

Good post. Amazing what a little context does.

That was such a great game. I was very impressed with Tua, and also with the way Daboll just changed his offense on the fly like that (when Tua came in the game). It was almost like a completely different offense from the 1st half.

Buffalo News in financial trouble

Much of what I've seen from Jerry Zremski is him just reporting the actual details of a story and/or facts. I guess thats considered "bashing" these days? lol -
Thurmans Jersey to be retired!

Nice! they kind of let it slip during Bruce's retirement, that Thurman's would be coming soon. So I'm not surprised. But it's still long overdue! -

I have zero issue with Zremski. I actually think he's quite good. But Bucky + Sully + Harrington drive me mad. They just seem way too jaded by all the years of losing. -

Ah, I get it now. That is why guys like Mike Harrington are so thin skinned & argumentative with everyone on twitter. He is "interacting" with users.... lol. -
Looking for a new TV, looking g for advice

Most of the 4K TV's have some type of 4K upscaling. But Sony's is pretty much universally considered to be the best in the industry. Their upscaling, motion processing etc. are all considered to be the best. That is one reason why I recommended that x900f model with the x1 extreme chip. That is the same chip that's in Sony's Z9D TV series (which start at like 4 grand). I would take take a ride to Best Buy and look at Tvs yourself. Look at some models and then do your own research (sites like Rtings are great for tv comparison). I wouldn't put too much stock into what the salesmen say. Every time I go a salesman will tell me something different. Half the time I feel like I've actually done more research than them. But go and look at these Tvs in person. See which one looks the best to you. Heres another one one I wanted to mention. It's an OLED tv (as opposed to an LED tv) which is most likely the next evolution in TVs. Instead of having a backlight with dimming zones, they have millions of individual pixels that turn on and off individually. So you get excellent black levels and picture quality. I personally don't like LG as much as Sony, but these TVs get excellent reviews, and an OLED TV's picture is a step up compared to an LED tv. It's definitely at least worth looking at for the price, as its the Same price as the Sony I linked earlier. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-55-class-oled-b7a-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/5935300.p?skuId=5935300 Best Buy has them both on display. Go see them in person (assuming you have a Best Buy near you). I would look at Samsung TVs too. LG, Sony and Samsung are considered to be the 3 big TV makers and all make quality TVs. I prefer Sony, since I've had such good luck with them. But I haven't owned Samsung or LG. Lots of people love them. I'm not familiar with the TCL tv mentioned in this thread either. But it did get some pretty decent reviews on rtings - https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/p-series-2017-p607 (You check this site for any TV you are interested in. They review them all) -

I am a big Sony TV guy (as you can probably tell if you've read back through this thread). I still have my Sony HDTV from 2007-08 and I swear that it still looks as good as any new 1080p tv I see in the stores today. it was an expensive tv when I bought it, but it has 100% been worth it. I know this is a bit more than you are looking to spend, but this is the TV I'd recommend to you - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-55-class-led-x900f-series-2160p-smart-4k-ultra-hd-tv-with-hdr/6179727.p?skuId=6179727 it has many of the same features as Sony's top of the line $4000 tvs. They do have a 49" version of that tv for $1099. Either that, or I'd look for last year's model (x900e). I believe the 55" is around $1000 (or less), if they have any left. They also have an 800 series that is a bit cheaper, but still a good tv IMO. Just not quite as many features as the 900 series. Both the 800 and 900 series are 4K HD (which is a big step up from 1080p HD). -
No, he meant the practice squad. But I know he's not actually serious about this idea. As you probably know since you've been here longer than me, this is what Fergy does. He posts these ideas that are so far out there that you know he can't be serious, then he proceeds to defend his idea, pretending that he was in fact serious. The responses do get pretty funny... lol

Cover1 article on Josh Allen's footwork
BillsFan4 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what gives me the most hope for Allen. He has seemed to make steady forward progress from his first year at Wyoming to now. I dont think he ever really got proper coaching up until what, maybe 3 years ago when he got to division 1? And you've seen him make progress ever since. None of these college QBs are polished, finished projects. Every single one has flaws (unless you are lucky enough to draft a truly elite college QB like Luck etc). So you have to take a gamble on the guy you feel has the best chance to continue progressing as a QB. Also, I think that's a good point about Mahomes footwork/mechanics issues. Mahomes had some really glaring throwing mechanics issues, and footwork issues coming out of college, yet many here would have been thrilled with him. Kansas City saw a QB with a lot of raw potential that they could mold into a franchise guy, so they took a chance and traded up for him (giving up two 1sts and a 3rd). Many people thought it was a brilliant move. Heres a good article on Mahomes issues and how KC is already made progress fixing them - https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2017/6/9/15682584/patrick-mahomes-texas-tech-chiefs and one quote form the article that really stood out - Maybe that quote takes it a bit too far, but Mahomes very flawed footwork/mechanic issues were a concern of almost every scout and talent evaluator I read. I get that Mahomes had better college stats (in a much different air raid system known for generating huge stats for college QBs), but he and Allen are somewhat similar prospects IMO (im obviously no expert though). So if you'd have been happy with Mahomes, why not be happy about Allen? Both are somewhat risky projects with huge potential... -
Not to get all deep on a football message board, but... Faith, in general, is absolutely a virtue worth having in my opinion. I see faith as an expression of hope for something better. People act in faith all the time, when there is no guarantee or certainty. Like for example - Having a child. You don't know how that child's life will turn out, but you have that child anyway because you believe things will be ok. or getting married. You have no idea if it will work out. You don't know if your marriage will last a lifetime, but you take a leap of faith. So much of what we hold precious relies on faith in other people. How miserable would life be, if when things were going bad you had no faith that it would get better? How many pro athletes would there even be if they didn't have faith in themselves that they could reach their goal? How many times in their life do you think they were told "give up and get a real job!"? I'm sure the same could be said about a lot of people who reached their ultimate goals in life, or realized their dreams. Anyway... lol.

I said the same thing to a friend yesterday. If Allen develops, Daboll will definitely be getting some heas coaching looks. And Culley could even get some looks as well (as a coordinator maybe?) I hope it happens! That would be a great problem to have - needing to replace our OC because Allen developed so well.

T. White - Thought this was cool

Love Tre! Love the type of players this new regime is bringing in. You can really see what they prioritize, and I think it's going to give the Bills a damn good shot at being a very good team in the coming years. I also love how "all in" Lesean McCoy is. He has really embraced the Bills, and Buffalo in general. Hope he finishes his career as a Bill. -
Sabres & NHL 2017-18 - Entry Draft on June 22
BillsFan4 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'll be interested to see how he does. He seems to be thought of very highly by the Leafs, and Avalanche (since they supposedly offered him a job running their entire hockey dept). Personally, I don't know much about him outside the little I've seen and read. I thought he got schooled by Rutherford in that Kessel trade. I also read something about how Mike Babcock was supposedly kind of steamrolling over Dubas before Lou got there (which I guess is partly why they brought Lou in, as he is someone Babcock highly respected). So it'll be interesting to see how that working dynamic plays out now. Itd it'd be great if Mark Hunter decided to move on now! He's probably the one I worry most about, as he is just so damn good at finding talent in the draft... -

I love when I check this thread and there's new stuff about Dahlin to read! -
I guess I just don't see how a couple of trade ups (especially for 2 extremely important positions - QB of the offense and QB of the defense (an athletic Mike LB is key to McDermott's defensive scheme functioning properly)) means that their plan isn't clear... Beane and McDermott aggressively went after 2 young players they think will be key cogs to the Bills long term success. Nothing wrong with that. And it certainly doesn't mean that they are unclear of their long term plan. In fact, i'd say quite the opposite - they have a clear vision of what type of players they want/need and are willing to do what it takes to acquire those types of players that they think will have a long term impact here. Its not like they gave up prime assets for 30yr old players or something. Both of these kids will hopefully be with the Bills for the next decade +. And why why should they take a QB they feel has a lower ceiling just because he may be able to start sooner? I don't know if Allen is the least ready to start, either. He played in a pro style offense that asked him to change coverage and make checks at the line. Rudolph played in a college style spread offense that asked him to do much less of what he will be asked to do in the NFL.

Oh man, the start of that interview with Dahlin was just embarrassing... Asking him what type of underwear he is wearing. Asking him if he knows who Ivan Drago is (why the **** would he know a character from a rocky movie made decades before he was born. And Drago was RUSSIAN, not Swedish. Idiots...). Now they're asking him about Crapes. A French food. I cringed about 5 separate times during that interview. Welcome to Buffalo kid! lol
