  1. 17 years without playoffs. It was one of the longest playoff droughts in sports history. Guys in the front office that kept their jobs no matter the results on the field. You don’t buy that a bad culture had developed? Do you know what type of incompetence it takes to miss the playoffs 17 straight years? Especially once the salary cap era started, which was designed in part to create parity around the league. I have zero issue believing that there was a culture problem at one bills drive.
  2. It was reported long before McDermott was hired, that the Bills weren’t even trying to negotiate a new deal with Woods. Not 100% sure of the reason. But I did read that he wanted to go home to California (which is what ended up happening). It makes me think that maybe he wasn’t interested in re-signing here.
  3. Thanks. Do you game on it at all? Or leave it on a menu/pause screen accidentally (etc) at times? Or anything lose that would put it st danger of burn-in? You have an LG I take it? Is it the C8 you linked?
  4. I think it’s a nice way of saying that Vontae has struggled so much that they value a depth player’s flexibility over Davis. In other words, they didn’t want to say that he has stunk... lol. I am sure that they are hoping he still returns to form as he continues to get back into game shape after his injury (otherwise they wouldn’t have kept him on the roster for week 1 and guaranteed his salary). But yeah, the early returns on Davis are not looking too good.
  5. Yeah I’ve looked at the OLED’s. I absolutely love their picture quality but I’m not sure it would be best for what I plan on using it for - gaming, more then anything else. I am really scared of the burn-in issues. I’ve had salesmen and TV reps tell me it’s not an issue anymore, but some of the display LG tv’s in Best Buy have severe burn-in issues. I know it’s from them showing the same thing on a constant loop all day, every day. But that’s why I worry about gaming on an OLED. A lot of the games I like to play have HUD’s (heads up displays) that are constantly in the same spot on the screen. Plus, burn-in isn’t covered by LG’s warranty. So if it happens, I’m SOL. Ive also read that just like Plasma TVs, OLED needs to be handled differently than the LED TVs do. That you have to baby them more, and run programs to make sure the color burn-in is even among all the pixels (etc). Ive never had a plasma or OLED so I am unfamiliar with all of this stuff. I do do plan on checking out the OLED Tv’s again anyway. I have a list of a few TVs I want to compare - - Sony’s Z9F - Sony’s new master series A9F OLED TV - Samsung Q9F - LG C and E series OLEDs Do you have an OLED? If so, what is your feedback? Sony’s Z9 series is actually pretty comparable to a plasma, if not better in some aspects. The black levels aren’t quite as good, but they are close. And the brightness is worlds better. Their new master series TVs are supposed to be the closest thing to a professional grade movie studio monitor that’s available to the average consumer.
  6. Replacing his spot on the PS with a QB? That’s my best guess.
  7. https://www.sony.com/electronics/televisions/xbr-z9f-series They announced the pricing for the new Z9F. It’s actually way better than I thought. The 65” is only $3499. The Z9D is still $2999 at Best Buy. Looks like they actually already have the new Z9F in stock - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-65-class-led-z9f-master-series-2160p-smart-4k-uhd-tv-with-hdr/6278280.p?skuId=6278280 Now I know what I’m doing this weekend! lol That price is very enticing... $3499 is doable. The 75” is $5999. I honestly thought that’s about what the 65” would cost. Sony is being much more aggressive in their pricing. It’s good to see.
  8. Just watched the Tampa Bay press conference. Boy, Julien BriseBois inspires a lot of confidence. You can see why is was so highly thought of and in demand around the NHL. I think he is going to be a very good GM for Tampa. They have what seems to be a great owner too. He also inspired a lot of confidence in this move. But he pissed me off with his comment about “we are so lucky that some other NHL team didn’t steal JB from us”. Lucky? You guys outright refused to even let him interview for GM jobs. I don’t know how many requests they denied, but I know it was multiple. Buffalo tried to interview him before they hired Botterill and Tampa refused the request. I gor got the impression that Steve Y. is gone once his contract is up at the end of this year. It sounds like he made this decision in part to spend more time with his family, but also because he did not want to renew his GM contract with Tampa. Whether the reason for that is truly to spend more time with his family or not will be determined by what he does in the next year or two. I don’t know if he would be willing to let Detriot fire Holland in order to replace him. It may have to wait until Holland’s deal is up in 2 years. Unless Holland leaves willingly, to join Seattle or something like that. But yeah I could totally see that happening eventually. It makes too much sense not to happen. He spent his entire 22 year career as a player there (age 18-40) and then got his start as an executive there. It seems like it’s only a matter of time until he’s back as the GM/team president.
  9. I don’t doubt that the OP talked to a Bills exec (whether current or recently let go). This is obviously just my opinion, and I am basing this opinion on very very little information, so I could be totally out of line here... but it made me wonder if it is just someone who is resentful of the power given to this new staff to make changes. There were some serious Ralph Wilson cronies embedded in the Bills organization. They had some crazy good job security for a long, long time, no matter the results on the field. I can see where they wouldn’t like this new regime, who was finally given the power to make sweeping changes.
  10. Whoa! Craziness. Montreal’s owner and fan base have to be sad to hear this. I honestly think Geoff Moulson has just been waiting for BriseBois to become available (being a francophone and highly regarded asst. GM and all...). His contract was set to expire within the next year or two IIRC. Tampa hasn’t been allowing him to interview anywhere, even though there were many requests. Maybe now we know why...
  11. It makes the organization look bad as a whole. Without knowing what McDermott and Daboll (etc) said/did behind the scenes, it’s hard to know how much blame they deserve. Maybe they wanted to keep AJ. Or maybe they wanted to go after a more veteran QB in the offseason. I keep thinking of Beane comments about how he told his staff “don’t let me get into chasing and overpaying for one of these vet QBs...”. But yeah, If both McDermott and Daboll were indeed ok going into the season with Nate and Josh, then it makes them look bad. If they truly thought Allen needed time to sit and learn, they did a terrible job insulating him from being forced into game action. And if Allen shows he’s not ready to start, I don’t even know what you do... they’ve really backed themselves into a corner here.
  12. I think that’s a big reason why Peterman started this past Sunday. IMO, McDermott even hinted at it in his post game presser. when asked about protecting Allen and eventually putting him in the game, he said he looks at the QB position form a lot of different angles, and considers not only who is playing QB but who is around him on offense. Then said “but I also have to consider what puts the football team in the best position to win games, as well” (which I took to mean “that’s why I eventually had to put Allen in”).
  13. I feel like he kind of did say that, in a round about way. He’s not the type that is going to be over-emotional in his responses, and say things like “we sucked. We were terrible” etc. The first thing he said was that “we didn’t intend to come out playing like that and coaching like that. We have a lot to learn from that game. We’ll look at the tape. We have a lot of work to do.... A lot of work to do. We’ll get to work on it as soon as we leave the locker room”. Said any time you allow that many points it’s concerning. Said “we have to go back, look at the film and be critical, be objective of what we were doing...” then said “I’m going to look at everything and make sure we are putting ourselves in a position to win football games”. He also said how he’s going to make sure he is putting guys in the right position to be successful, and make sure that every guy is doing their jobs. Said he will evaluate every position. Said “I am going to look at myself having this team ready to go. Make sure I’m doing my job the right way. The first person I am going to look at is myself”. He went on to say (again) that they have a ton of things to correct and that he will begin immediately after they leave the locker room. He doesn’t come straight out and say it was a dumpster fire, but you don’t talk like that and say the things McD said when you think your football team played well. I feel like he did take responsibility for how bad they were and said they will evaluate everything and work to correct it. I think he just did it in a different way than some wanted him to.

Make sure I’m doing my job the right way. The first person I am going to look at is myself” and then went on to say that “I am going to make sure I am putting every player in a position to have success”. (Starts at 4:30) Would you not say that he was taking some responsibility when he said that?

  16. I don’t know that he will ever be even a backup caliber QB, but I still think he will grow from experience as most people do... that’s all I meant. I am sure there is. I havw no no issue with McD’s pressers though. I think it’s smart not to give up any info to the press. Other NFL teams try to exploit any possible advantage they can find, so if McD is guarded to the press, then so be it. I’d rather have a coach handle the press like McD than one who handled it like Rex did. But that’s just my preference. I understand why a lot of people loved Rex’s press conferences. He could definitely be entertaining. I keep seeing people saying this, but Belichick has pretty much always been that way with the press. When he was the head coach in Cleveland, he was tight lipped too, and he surely hadn’t earned it at that point. Belichick has never believed in sharing any unnecessary information with the media.
  17. Damn, I really feel for this kid. He overcame a lot (with that Crohn’s disease) to even get back to the NFL. I was happy when I heard he warned the starting RT job. It’s a shame this happened...
  18. I find this surprising. What type of disfunction are we talking about? And between whom? This is the first time in a long time that the coach and GM actually seem like they’re on the same page. I can see where maybe staff members that preceded McDermott might be uneasy, because he has not been hesitant to make changes and clear out the last regime.
  19. I agree. Nate will grow with experience. But it what I have trouble with is, why go through a throw away season struggling to overcome Nate’s rookie growing pains only to most likely have to do it all over again next year with Josh Allen? Now if Josh shows that he is sinking, and just truly isn’t ready to be on the field, I get it. I don’t want to ruin him. But otherwise, if Josh looks capable and this is going to be a throw away season anyway, might as well have him starting so he can hit the ground running next year.
  20. Exactly. Some don’t seem to get this. McDermott gains nothing by pubically throwing his players under the bus. But just because he doesn’t openly criticize his players to the media doesn’t mean he isn’t doing it behind closed doors.
  21. Yes. Well, at leas he showed that ability from what I watched of him this preseason...
  22. I don’t know if they claimed him or not but I know he’s in Tampa.
  23. Yup. I’ll take him over Washington
