  1. As GunnerBill and other said, Bodine made the protection adjustments. That is is something that didn’t seem to be happening weeks 1 and 2. Allen, like many rookie QBs, struggles recognizing pressure. Having an experienced starting center like Bodine looks to have been a big help to him. I think he should be the starting C going forward.
  2. Via the Flyers: https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2018/09/24/meet-gritty-the-flyers-horrifyingly-delightful-new-mascot/ So.... the Flyers new mascot is a guy named Gritty - a mischievous bully who is unwelcoming to opposing fans. Only in philly, I swear.
  3. OMG! what a story. Unbelieveable what he went through. I knew it was bad, but I didn’t know it was that bad. I give him a lot of credit for sharing some of those details.
  4. He has been here. He just hasn’t posted. Anyone here can click on his profile and see when the last time he’s logged in... I just did and he logged in an hour ago, and I saw that he logged in multiple times yesterday after the game.
  5. Watching NFL GameDay Prime right now. They just said that Josh Allen’s day against the Vikings defense was the best ever for a rookie QB since Mike Zimmer took over (which includes playing against both Wentz and Prescott in their rookie years). Said he was first in every category - Comp Pct., Passing Yards, Yards/Attempt, Total TDs, and Passer Rating.
  6. Yeah, the offense seemed to function better with Bodine at center. It looked like he was calling out/setting protections at the line/helping to identify pressure. I don’t know if Groy was doing that. It is something Eric Wood used to do, and something that I think can be very helpful to Josh Allen. He struggles to recognize pressure, as most rookie QBs do. Having an experienced center that can him in that regard is a good thing for the entire offense,
  7. That’s a good point. So maybe you can look at it more like White + Allen + Edmunds Vs Mahomes + whoever we would have drafted in the 1st this year. I’d say Edmunds but there is too much unknown to say for sure (who knows where we’d have picked without White on the field last year, and/or if Mahomes came in instead of Peterman, or won the job out of camp). So hopefully in the long run we end up ahead by 1 position filled because of that trade, since it allowed us an extra 1st.... (if all 3 work out in the long run, and Mahomes does too). If we were able to get our #1 CB and QB of the future on offense and defense, we made out pretty well from the results of that trade. Only time will tell... Really, it probably all comes down to Allen vs Mahomes. If Mahomes is light years better, I am not sure White + Edmunds can make up for that. If they are comparable, or Allen is better, then White + Edmunds make it a win in my book.
  8. He has to be more consistent. Every game so far, he’s had a couple bad punts and then some really good ones. Like today, I believe his first 2 punts only went for something like 30-35 yards. Then his last couple/few were amazing. I do believe that it could be part of the plan to develop him for the future, though. The Bills have numerous rookie or 2nd year players starting in key positions. If any year is a year to struggle through rookie growing pains, this is probably it. We are already doing so at QB and MLB, 2 of the most important positions on the field (where mistakes can be pretty noticeable). Not to mention LB (Milano), LT, CB, WR. Why not a punter too... lol.
  9. I like to think that Tremaine Edmunds factors into the equation when I look at that trade. I know he didn’t technically come from the KC trade. But still... If we didn’t have the extra 1st from the KC trade, we would not have been able to draft both Josh Allen and Tremaine Edmunds in the 1st this year. Overall, I think it’s too early to judge yet. Mahomes is off to a great start, but the circumstances are much different and it’s still too soon to know whether he can sustain this. The NFL tends to catch up to guys pretty quick. We heard last year about how passing on Watson was a huge mistake and he might be the best young QB ever... and now we are not hearing as much talk about Watson with his average start to this year. Not saying Watson stinks or mahomes won’t comtinue to light it up. Just that you really have to wait and hold judgement until guys are in the league for a while.
  10. Agreed. But my question was, is that possible in this specific case? There is a deadline to negotiate a new deal for franchise tagged players. Once the deadline passes, a new deal can not be worked on until after the season is over. https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2018/7/16/17576470/pittsburgh-steelers-unable-to-agree-an-extension-with-rb-leveon-bell-before-nfl-deadline-of-july-16 If he is traded, can the new team negotiate an extension? Or can he only play under the tag this season, no matter who he plays for?
  11. Yeah I hear you man. It’s tough when everything is going so bad. It definitely makes it easier to deal with the “lows” when you get to see what the “highs” look like... Allen, Edmunds, Milano, White -all young guys who played very good for us today. I think this is what McDermott meant when he said it’s “fertile ground” for thr young guys to develop. But I expect there will be more games where Edmunds and Allen and Milano (etc) struggle (like in the previous weeks) and the loss looks ugly. My hope is that as the season goes on, we will see the young guys start to consistently play better.
  12. Could the Bills even make this trade if they wanted to? Bell can can only play under the tag this year, correct? When is the earliest they could sign him to a new deal? Cause if they can’t, they’d have to find other ways to move money around.
  13. Well, it looks like E. Wood was right- any talk of McDermott losing the locker room was ridiculous.
  14. How can a guy possibly even play the game of football if that is a penalty? Seriously.
  15. Bills twitter having some fun with the win. lol
  16. Man, I love this kid’s personality.
  17. Agreed. He called a great game today. Made things easier for Allen. I also think Russell Bodine deserves some credit for the 1st half. It looked like he was helping to call out protections at the line. As I said in the game day thread, I think that’s one of the reasons why this offense has missed E. Wood so much.
  18. Damn, that sucks. Never want to see that. I hope it’s not as bad as feared.
  19. Yeah, I loved seeing McD give the game ball to Frazier. That is real leadership, as the CBS crew said. Taking all the blame and deflecting all the praise.
  20. @PetermanThrew5Picks i dont know know how to quote your post from the closed game day thread, but I wasn’t talking about you. Just a very small handful of guys (who I won’t call out, not my style). I took it more as a guy who was nervous he just made a real bad bet and was looking for some comfort to ease his worries. But who knows...
  21. Yep for sure. I said that during the game. It definitely makes it easier to deal with the downs, when you get to see the ups like today. It gives you a glimpse of what the future could look like.
  22. Hey BuffaloRush, Are you alive, or did your wife already bury you in the backyard? lol I actually feel bad for thr dude. One of the best Bills wins in a long time and he probably couldn’t enjoy a minute of it. Hopefully this is a lesson learned though. An expensive one...
  23. Josh Allen with his first career win! Love it.
  24. Well... after those first 2 punts anyway.
  25. Special teams with another great play.
