🤷♂️ he was on an AHL deal in Rochester.
-
I think it’s only a matter of time until Pat Kane is traded to the NYR. Reportedly he was only interested in going to Toronto or the rangers and Toronto went with ROR. He’s being held out of the lineup and the NYR have made a couple moves to clear cap space. I’m guessing he will end up there before the deadline.

Now this was a player I was hoping Buffalo would trade for. I thought he could kind of be like a Tom Wilson-lite if Granato could get him to find his scoring touch again. I thought he would have added some needed grit. But i thought maybe he could be had for like a 2nd + decent prospect. What tampa paid is nuts! He will make their lineup even tougher to play against in the playoffs though, for sure.
-
huh. Not sure how to feel about this one. Seems like a good haul but more quantity than quality. Devils kept all of their top prospects and only gave up 1 player off their roster who I like as a middle 6 guy but I don't know if i see a high ceiling there. I guess if that 2nd turns into a 1st it could be better. I guess we will see if the Devils can ink Meier to a long term deal and what that deal looks like. I asume it will be expensive. Meier's a RFA at season's end with 1 year to UFA and his qualifying offer alone is $10 million. So if he wants big money from NJ he will probably get it. Seems like he has all the bargaining power.

Weird we are still waiting on the trade details hours later. I wonder if they are trying to get ahold of a player involved in the trade first? Or if there are issues with the trade itself? I guess it came down to Vegas, New Jersey and Carolina with Carolina dropping out last night (or so says Pierre lebrun)
-
Sucks but the trade cost is going to be high and so are his salary demands.
-
Red Wings lost last night but the capitals won and so did the penguins. Buffalo needs to win this game to regain their playoff spot. If they lose, I think Washington will temporarily take the 2nd wildcard spot and it will knock Buffalo down below Pittsburgh (unless it’s at OT loss). Right now Pittsburgh holds the final wildcard spot after their most recent win. They are 1pt ahead of Buffalo. But the Sabres still have like 4 games in hand on Washington so even if they lose they still have some breathing room on the Caps. But I’d much prefer to win today! It would be a big win (but that can be said about most remaining games…).

I just checked the spectrum cable TV guide and it’s showing that the game is on MSG for me.
-
Ugh, that sucks! I was worried when he left the game last night. Definitely not what I was hoping to hear.

He was unbelievable last night! I think that was the best game he’s played in a Sabres uniform. He looked exactly like the veteran goalie this team has needed. So dialed in and controlled in net. He seemed to calm the Sabres down in their own end and did a great job with rebound control. He made some huge saves for them too! Knowing that this is very likely his last 20 some games before retirement, I say ride him down the stretch if he’s up for it and keeps playing so well. I think he can taste the playoffs and wants one last postseason before he retires.

The Buffalo Sabres are in a playoff spot. At the end of February. You read that right! 😂 For real, when’s the last time we could say that? A decade? I don’t know how long it will last but I’m sure going to enjoy it for now. We all should. It’s been a long ass time.

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
BillsFan4 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Ravens offer seems good, but it depends on if the $133M was the total guaranteed or what was guaranteed at signing. If you look at the total guaranteed money: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/broncos-give-russell-wilson-monster-extension-where-qb-stacks-up-among-richest-contracts-in-nfl-history/ the $130M in guarantees doesn’t even put him in the top 5 for QBs. It would put him at #7, just ahead of Matt Stafford. Deshaun Watson - $230 million Russell Wilson - $165 million Kyler Murray - $160 million Aaron Rodgers - $150,815,000 Josh Allen - $150 million Patrick Mahomes - $141,481,905 Matthew Stafford - $130 million Dak Prescott - $126 million ESPN is reporting the guaranteed at signing of the other QBs contracts they are comparing Lamar’s offer to, but we still don’t know if the $133M the ravens offered was the total guaranteed or what was guaranteed at signing. It might be the total guaranteed money since it’s coming from the team and I ‘d assume they’d want to make the offer look as good as possible to the press in this case. But it could also be the guaranteed at signing amount since I do believe they are making an honest effort to keep Lamar (so I’m sure they know offering him such low total guarantees compared to other QBs wouldn’t get it done). https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-free-agency-total-guarantees-vs-full-guarantees-and-the-ways-contracts-should-be-evaluated/ for all practical purposes, total guarantees in a QB’s contract are pretty reliably paid since they usually become guaranteed a year prior anyway. But still, I’d like to see what the total guarantees were vs. guaranteed at signing in the contract offered to Lamar, and how it was structured. Structure matters a lot too. For ex: when Allen signed his new deal he took slightly less than Mahomes in total annual value ($43M vs Mahomes $45M). But if you look at the way their contracts are paid out, Allen actually makes more in new money and cash flow than Mahomes every year for his entire 6yr deal. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/agents-take-comparing-patrick-mahomes-and-josh-allen-contracts-making-them-nfls-highest-paid-players/ The devil is in the details, as they say. Without knowing all the details it’s hard to say if Lamar is being unreasonable. -
What a win! They even overcame pretty bad officiating. I love beating this dirty Tampa team! Tage with a monster game. That’s the Tage we need down the stretch. Hopefully this game can be a stepping stone to get them going again. Big win! Big 2 points.

What a goal by Tuch! I’m not by any means saying to trade 1st round picks or top prospects for rentals. I have no interest in trading our 1st or any of our top prospects. I agree 100% it would be a waste. They’re not ready. I would be open to a bigger trade like that for a #1 goalie that’s young enough to be here for a while (like Thatcher Demko if he’s truly available). But when I said add a vet I meant more of a cheap addition. Something like a mid/late pick for a veteran defenseman (like a 4th or later) to help calm them in their own end or something like that. It seems like it could be a buyers market this year. I’d just like to see them add something to give the team a boost and help them stay in the playoff race. I don’t want to just throw picks away but if something makes sense for a reasonable price that could help this team, I think they should do it. It’s important they stay in the playoff race.
-
Welp, that’s game. I don’t see them coming back from a 5-0 deficit tonight. I’d love to be wrong though!
-
They didn’t look bad at the start of the 1st, but as soon as Toronto got that 1st goal they went into full-on melt down mode and now it’s 4-0 ten minutes later. Thats been an issue for Buffalo this year. They allow 1 goal to turn into multiple goals in a short time span. This team desperately needs a #1 goalie and they could use a bit more of a veteran presence too IMO. They need someone who’s able to help calm things on the ice when the kids are struggling. Really hoping Kevyn Adams at least makes a small addition before the deadline. The kids need some help to stay in the playoff race.

Same here! He seems like a good dude. His wife seems pretty awesome too. She was involved in some project here fixing up houses iirc. She seemed pretty active in the community.
-
Last I saw, the Bills had cut him from the practice squad mid-January.
-
Yeah I thought they played well last night. It was a fun game! I thought the 2nd was sloppy though. So many missed passes… other than that it was a great game! big win! It moved them up the standings. Now they are only 3 points back from the Islanders who hold the last wildcard spot, but they have 5 games in hand on the NYI. That last wildcard spot is actually in reach if they can keep winning. They have a tough stretch of games coming up. It’ll be important to at least pick up points. Even if they lose, if they can at least get it to overtime it’ll be big.
-
Plus he’s a lefty and I’ve read he doesn’t like to play on the right. Ideally IMO they would add a top 4 RHD and someone who excels in his own end.

Trevon Diggs trying to get his brother in Dallas
BillsFan4 replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought it seemed like something was going on with Diggs and Allen last season. I think many of us noticed a change. He had a number of outbursts on the sidelines. I didn’t see him picking Allen up and encouraging him on the sidelines like he used to. I didn’t see all the buddy/buddy interviews with him and Allen as much after games, or Diggs “photo bombing” Allen interviews joking around and stuff. I also didn’t see Diggs pictured away from the facilities with teammates this past season. He used to always be in the Instagram photos with Allen and other teammates hanging out. I didn’t see him in any pictures with teammates as the season went on. I have no inside info and I’m not saying there is definitely an issue but I do feel like something changed. Don’t know what. I just hope whatever it is can be resolved like you said. -
Yesh it’s nice that the playoffs are in reach. It’s a lot of fun thinking about the Sabres making the playoffs! They have to stay in the race though. The last time they were in playoff contention at this point in the season (IIRC) was in 2018/19 when they traded for Brandon Montour at the deadline. Then they proceeded to completely melt down after the trade deadline winning something like 8 games the rest of the season 🤮 So IMO I don’t consider this a successful season quite yet. Stay in the race and I will! But if they draft in the top 8-9 again it’s going to be hard to feel like this season was a win. I do feel like this time is different. I really feel like they’re on the right track. But I’ve been fooled before, so I’m still guarded.

I would rate them similar to you. However, I would say that Knox, Davis, Rousseau and maybe Oliver all still have a chance to be better than average. I would say all of them have flashed the ability to be better. They just need more consistency. I’d also say that Brown still has a chance to be a starting caliber RT. And I’m hoping J. Johnson maybe just had a bad year. He seemed to be trending in a good direction before last season. Maybe the new safety coach will help him? 🤞 Beane has done an awful lot of good here but I do think his drafts could use some improvement. He needs a home run draft or two to get Buffalo over the hump like we’ve seen other teams do. He needs to draft some true game changers. It’ll be more important now than ever before with the cap situation. I actually think the 2017 draft that McDermott ran might possibly be their best overall draft. Well, excluding Josh Allen anyway. Getting him in 2018 automatically makes that their best draft IMO just due to the importance of a true game changing franchise QB. 2017: Tre White Zay Jones Dion Dawkins Matt Milano Nathan Peterman Tanner Vallejo White is a #1 CB. Dawkins is our franchise LT. Milano is one of the top LB’s in the NFL. Jones was traded but has now found success. Not a bad draft. However, I guess it could be argued that it’s overshadowed by trading the #10 pick to KC and handing them Mahomes, who completed their dynasty and now stands in the way of Buffalo every season for the foreseeable future… lol.
