  1. The Bills, if for no other reason than our team is stable in WNY and at no threat of relocation.
  2. That is huge for this team and it shows me that they really are turning a corner in their rebuild. It’s been years since there’s been that expectation to win among the players. I have heard countless guys talk about it after being traded away - how there is an expectation to win on their new team and how that wasn’t the case in Buffalo. I just hope that feeling sticks (and I’m cautiously optimistic it will).
  3. Not only that, the cost to play hockey can be prohibitive. It’s not like soccer where all you need is some shin pads, cleats and a patch of grass. Or basketball where all you need is a ball and hoops. Hockey equipment is expensive and ice time is even more expensive (so the fees to play in a youth hockey league aren’t cheap).
  4. I don’t know man... everyone I talk to in real life are all about the Sabres right now. I’d you are talking about on this forum specifically, it’s a Buffalo Bills forum. It’s focused on football. Two Bills Drive has a sister forum called SabreSpace for all hockey talk. Or check out the Sabres board over at HFboards. Or Go to a game. The (sold out) crowds have been nuts lately! go Sabres!
  5. By a mile, if he’s re-signed. Figured that’s what would happen when they announced Scandella was playing. Bummer. I was hoping to see what he could do. But he will see games with the Sabres at some point this season. I believe they run $4000-$7000 per game. They are super expensive. I get suite tickets once once in a while, but I don’t pay for them. Its definitely a great experience - all sorts of free food and drinks/alcohol etc, but there’s better ways to spend that much money... lol.
  6. http://www.nhl.com/stats/ Skinner leading the NHL in goals scored.
  7. I hope Pilut doesn’t get sent back down without ever playing a game.
  8. Happy thanksgiving everyone!
  9. I really hope he gets into a game. Scandella skated today, so I’m not sure how long Pilut will be up.
  10. https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Plus-Month-Membership-Digital/dp/B004RMK5QG/ref=dsvrt_myd_asin_block posted this in the Black Friday thread too. Good deal on a 1 year PS plus membership. They seem to have this deal every year around thanksgiving. I bought it this time last year, too. $39 instead of $59.
  11. https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Plus-Month-Membership-Digital/dp/B004RMK5QG/ref=dsvrt_myd_asin_block good deal on a PlayStation Plus 1 year membership for my fellow gamers.
  12. Yeah my throat is definitely sore today. Fans were nuts. Even in the parking lot people were still cheering. Amazing 1st period. Buffalo came out on fire. Not the best 2nd or 3rd. I thought they sat back too much. But they pulled out the win. I’ll take it, though I really want to see them play a full 60. But they are still a young team learning how to win. Hopefully it comes with time.
  13. https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/sabres-have-reclaimed-their-fans Crowd was amazing at the game!
  14. I know Pilot won’t get into the lineup tonight, but I am super excited to see him make his NHL debut.
  15. One of the best, most exciting NFL games I have watched all year.
  16. Hoping for a big, rowdy crowd at the game on Wednesday. The players deserve our support and appreciation for this current tear they’re on. It’s so nice to finally be seeing the light and the end of the tunnel now. It was a rough 5 years.
  17. Yeah he actually said that during last season, too. He said they had to spend a lot of time teaching guys the new systems, and it didn’t leave as much time as he wanted to get their conditioning right. Plus, he came from a veteran team. One with a bunch of guys who knew what type of contitiniong it took to win consistently in the NHL and make the playoffs. I think he was a bit surprised by the Sabres lack of conditioning. Housley said that a lot tougher training camp was coming and he didn’t lie. I think almost every single Sabres player said that this was the toughest training camp they’ve ever been through. We are finally starting to see this team mature and learn what it takes to win in the NHL on a nightly basis.
  18. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/sabres-winning-streak-kyle-okposo-sam-reinhart/c-302136150 good article. Worth a read.
  19. I didn’t realize that he was (possibly) only there on an interim basis. You are not going to get a much better, or more experienced, coach who is willing to take over for the short term (especially with the uncertainty at GM like the article mentioned).
  20. Whoa! Not it surprised that McLellan was fired. Very surprised that Hitch was named head coach. I could either see him doing very very well there, or not good at all. I am just not sure how his “defense first and foremost” system will fit that team (I worry that it will be similar to how he fit in Dallas). Hitch is a great coach though. One of the smartest hockey minds there is. It will be interesting to see how he does there.
  21. I know a lot of people complain about housley, and I don’t know if he’s the right coach to win us a Stanley Cup. But he is the right coach coach for this team right now. He is the first coach that has actually been able to get the entire team to buy-in to a system and play as a 5 man unit (instead of kind of making it up as they go). He is letting them play a fast, exciting brand of hockey. He’s letting the young guys make mistakes without stapling them to the bench afterwards (something a lot of coaches don’t do). Really, He’s the first coach to make some real progress with the way the Sabres play. They actually look/play like a legit NHL team again. I dont know if he will be the coach that gets buffalo to true contender status. But he is making real, true progress with this roster right now, and that’s what Buffalo desperately needed. And, IMO, you are seeing some players developing their games, too which bodes well for the future. It may take hiring another coach a few years down the line to put them over the top. But for now, I think Housley is earning his keep. I can’t wait to see how this team develops over the course of this season.
