  1. Oh, I forgot to mention something that might help you at least narrow down what you like. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-VqX3atei6Ja/speakercompare/default.aspx it’s an online speaker comparison tool on Crutchfield’s site. You need to use a pair of headphones on their list or rent a listening kit from them. The cheapest headphones I found for purchase on their list are the Audio Technica ATH-M20x. It’s obviously not a perfect way to listen but it does allow you to at least get an idea of the speaker’s sound. Id still recommend going with an internet direct speaker company over a place like crutchfield (way better value). But crutchfield does have in home trials and flat shipping rates to send items back.
  2. Oh, and eventually adding a subwoofer is something you should definitely consider. It can make a huge impact on overall sound quality. I’m not talking shaking the room. It just adds so much more depth to the music and makes the speakers sound better/cleaner. They can focus on more of the mids + highs and let the subwoofer handle the bass. A good subwoofer can make a $250 speaker sound like a $1000 speaker. You don’t even need to spend a lot if it’s just for music. Something like an REO speedwoofer would be great for music. Or even an entry level SVS sealed subwoofer (but there are better choices IMO).
  3. ok cool. Those are realistic expectations, especially when talking bookshelf speakers. lol I would say to check out the Chane L series. Their A series and 700 series are also great speakers. But the L series is their speaker meant for the most critical listening. They use high end speaker components (woofers, tweeters, crossover parts, cabinets) and are very reasonably priced. https://www.chanemusiccinema.com Another good one to check out is Ascend Acoustics. They make some really nice speakers that would be classified as detailed with good instrument separation. Especially any of their speakers with the RAAL tweeters. If you are looking for exquisite detail, the raal tweeter’s are great. https://ascendacoustics.com even some of the lower end ribbon or AMT tweeters are great for detail. Emotiva is a good more budget oriented speaker brand. Their AMT tweeters provide a lot of detail. Problem is that all of these speakers are direct to customer online retail. They all have free in home trials of some sort. But IMO they are where the true value is at. You typically get a LOT more speaker for your money. Typically, the better the woofer and tweeter quality, the better the music quality. Also, solid well built speaker cabinets matter. The more inert/dead, the better. Then crossover design also matters a lot. I don’t buy into the high end crossover components being all that worthwhile but better crossover components don’t hurt. you usually get higher quality speaker components and cabinets with online speaker manufacturers. Retail speakers are often built quite cheap. If you really want to get a lot of speaker for your money you could do something like an “assemble it yourself” speaker kit. For ex: https://www.css-audio.com/online-store/Kits-c29751664 that’s a great one. Any of the Criton or Criton X kits would blow you away. I believe they still sell the cabinet flat packs too so you just glue it together basically. There are other AIY kits out there too from DIY sound group, Parts Express and others. Also, to really get the most out of your speakers they need to be set up properly. Assuming you don’t have a measurement microphone and know how to use Room EQ wizard, the best you can do is play with the placement (distance between them, toe in, toe out, how far from the wall, etc) and see what sounds best and wall/room treatments can also make a big difference when it comes to instrument separation and stuff like that.
  4. I don’t have any recommendations for Bluetooth in ceiling speakers. I don’t think there’s a whole lot of choices out there for them so if that’s what you’re after I’d just go with the best ones you can find. i could recommend some regular in ceiling speakers but that would require a separate receiver (or amp + pre amp) to power them. I’m not sure that’s worth it for a bathroom. Unless you wanted to install a system in other rooms of the house too.
  5. What are you looking for from your speakers? (ie: want to listen very loud. Or want accuracy/a flat response., etc) Bookshelf or floor standing? Will you be running them with a subwoofer? If so, what brand/model? If not, you should get one! (a good one can make any speakers sound better, and sometimes drastically better) What’s the rough budget?
  6. They did look great in the first. Completely dominant. Then they just stopped playing that way, and pretty much packed it in after Seattle went up 3-2. This description from a Seattle kraken fan blog site sums it up perfectly… https://www.davyjoneslockerroom.com/kraken-sabres-recap-seattle-fights-back-to-win-6-2/ (Davey jone’s locker is the kraken equivalent to the “die by the blade” Sabres site) I swear, this is the most mentally weak/fragile Sabres team that has ever been assembled. I don’t even feel like I’m exaggerating either. I don’t just mean this season. This season is probably the worst yet but it’s been going on with this “core” for years now. One tiny thing goes wrong and 2/3rds of the team immediately starts hanging their heads, saying “woe is me! Here we go again…”, and pack it in for the night. Oh, and then they always give their mea culpa’s to the press. Cant forget about that part. “This is unacceptable. We have to stop doing this. It’s embarrassing” blah blah blah.
  7. I’d make that trade.
  8. Elliotte Friedman reporting that the Vancouver Canucks are shopping JT Miller and Elias Pettersson to trade 1 of them (it sounds like Miller and Petey are like oil and water). They want a center in return, but also really need defenseman too. Buffalo feels like the perfect trade partner. Miller is older (32 in March) but also might be more of what we need in the locker room. He’s reportedly a very demanding and outspoken veteran (and is supposedly very hard on Pettersson, which is where the rift comes from) and would immediately be our #1 C. Pettersson is younger (26) and would also immediately be our #1 C, now and long term. He’s definitely the higher skill player, but apparently more of a soft spoken guy. Miller has a NTC. Pettersson’s doesn’t kick in until the summer. With a NTC, JT Miller may not even be an option. I did read he’d want to play for a U.S. team if he’s traded. So, maybe a slight possibility? lol I’d be happy with either guy though!
  9. “Vrabel told The Athletic he spent the past year considering what he wants out of his next head-coaching job and formed three priorities: ownership, collaboration and quarterback.” Im not sure it will be up to the Jets. Vrabel is the top coaching candidate on the market. I think the Jets are probably just a warm up interview for him. I can’t see him picking the NYJ situation over some of the other jobs he may get offered. Unless they allow him to hand pick his own GM or something. But even then he would still have to deal with Woody overriding the coach+GM on a whim, because his son read something online or made a big play in Madden 😂
  10. Up 3-0, 4-2, 5-3 + held a 1 goal lead with 7 seconds left and they still managed to lose the game.
  11. Really nice win last night. Thats the best game they’ve played in quite a while. I really hope it helps them gain some confidence and start stacking some wins.
  12. If you want to make yourself irrationally angry, go back and read this interview from when the Pegulas hired Kevyn Adams. https://www.audacy.com/espnrochester/articles/wgr-am-article/pegulas-familiarity-was-a-big-factor-in-the-hiring-of-adams-as-general clueless owners.
  13. A Minnesota player born in Buffalo, NY! His dad played for the Sabres. He also played for the Sabres. Buffalo drafted him and gave him his start in the NHL. Lindy Ruff was his first NHL coach. There was a time he talked about retiring a Sabre. He was sad when he got traded away. Now I would bet money that Buffalo is on his no trade list.
  14. this ⬆️ there is nothing else left to do if he is serious about ever winning and not being a joke franchise. the guy I keep thinking about is Ken Holland. Hire him as President of hockey ops and let him hire a GM. He is one of the most well respected GMs in modern NHL history. He has a stellar reputation in NHL circles. There’s a reason the oilers hired him when it looked like McDavid was nearing his last straw with Edmonton (and it worked). I don’t even know if he’d take the job but it’s worth a shot.
  15. Last place in the NHL.
  16. Good article on the Sabres issues https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/scouts-analysis-why-the-sabres-potential-isnt-paying-off/
  17. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6006850/2024/12/19/predators-disappointment-barry-trotz/ I wish our GM + owner understood this…
  18. Glad I’m not the only one who remembers that! It was such an eyebrow raising comment that it just stuck in my head and I’ve never forgotten it.
  19. I remember reading/hearing years back (I think maybe Tim Graham reported it iirc) that in order to hire McDermott/Beane, Pegula had to put a clause in their contract that they got final say over football operations and it was also reported that was something Pegula regretted giving them (even with all the Bills success…).
  20. “When we were in detailed discussions with Jason and how we felt we needed to move forward — effectively, efficiently and economically running this franchise — we felt that there were too many differences in opinion,” Pegula said then. He then added, “I’m not going to sit here and, you know, dish on Jason Botterill, but we have a vision and we want to see our vision succeed.” —— Terry Pegula is the root of the problems with this team. Nothing will change until he does.
  21. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6000113/2024/12/17/sabres-terry-pegula-meeting/ Nothing is going to change until Pegula decides to take a step back and hire experienced people to run hockey ops. but he won’t. And now to add to the above, they are playing maybe their worst game of this 11 game losing streak after a speech from Terry Pegula where he professed confidence in the Adams, the coaches and players. Not sure what that says/means, if anything.
  22. Amazing article by Michael Silver on the athletic: “Josh Allen making MVP case with run of play that has teammates in awe: ‘He’s mythical’ “ https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5997141/2024/12/16/josh-allen-bills-lions-mythical-play/ I found this part interesting
  23. I bet Lindy is wishing he would have stuck to that “no” he gave Kevyn Adams when Adams first tried to hire him… I don’t think he really realized just how broken this team is. I actually feel bad for him, especially because like he said it really does seem like it is all on him. He doesn’t have a GM that’s willing to do anything to try and help stop all the losing. I mean, how can he? We don’t have palm trees… and maybe there truly aren’t any worthwhile trades out there right now. I’m sure every GM is trying to throw him an anchor or steal a good young player. But he’s also in year FIVE. If he hadn’t waited until this past offseason to start trying to improve the team, maybe he wouldn’t be backed into a corner right now.
