  1. Gase comes off as a somewhat petty person to me. It’s not just this story either. It’s lots of stuff from his tenure in Miami and now NY. Like him sitting quietly off on his own during the draft this year, more/less refusing to participate because he didn’t like Maccagnan.
  2. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/31-thoughts-pressure-mounting-toronto-maple-leafs/ some interesting buffalo related stuff. Like this - He also mentions that Buffalo is looking to move Scandella now -
  3. Good article on Sobotka: https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/sabres-sobotka-making-good-impression-his-team He really has improved so far this season. He’s playing like the guy I used to watch in STL before he left for the KHL. I remember when he left, saying “ah man that sucks for St. Louis”. I hope he continues to play like this.
  4. “Buffalo Sabres (@BuffaloSabres) Tweeted: "The way our bench erupted when Casey backchecked...it was crazy." Coach Krueger reacts to the in-game bench vibe: https://t.co/QYTDK1xdec https://t.co/j46TtoDI49 The play John + k9 are talking about ^
  5. Is there any good 1 tech DT’s that could be available? That looks like a pretty big hole after Sunday’s game (and that was against an awful Miami line). Peko and Lotulelei aren’t cutting it.
  6. Playing Halo. ? I agree with everything you said. But Id like to add one thing to that “Buffalo was a year ahead of Toronto” narrative. When that was said, it was assumed that Toronto was going to do a complete tear down rebuild like Buffalo had done. But then they lucked into hiring Babcock and changed course. They went with a re-tool, keeping a number of key pieces. So they had a much smaller hole to dig themselves out of than Buffalo. The Sabres tore the team down to a level that isn’t seen very often. Im not taking anything away from the leafs rebuild. I’m just saying it wasn’t as complete a tear down as our. Toronto made a lot of smart decisions (more of them than Buffalo did!). There was definitely some luck involved too. They won the draft lottery in their only year finishing last and were also lucky that a true #1 franchise center like Auston Matthews was the prize. Hiring Babcock was also a huge boon to their rebuild. He came in and changed that culture pretty much on day 1. Had Toronto missed out on hiring Babcock and went with Guy Boucher instead (they almost did because they thought they were out on Babs, then apparently his wife said no to buffalo, or so the story goes...) and got Laine in the draft instead of Matthews, I wonder where they’d be at right now? Would Tavares have left the NYI for Toronto? Would they be a powerhouse? Doubtful. Again, I’m not taking anything away from the leafs rebuild. There’s usually some luck involved in building a good team.
  7. Buffalo was the only team that offered a 1st for Lehner. Everyone knew they Had To trade a goalie. They had 3 starting caliber goalies, none of which were waiver exempt. Peter Chiarelli (a terrible GM who’s made some of the worst trades in recent NHL history) was shopping for a starting goaltender that offseason, and he later said that he was unwilling to give up a 1st for Lehner. His offer topped out at a 2nd round pick. The picks we traded away in that 2015 draft still piss me off to this day. That was the deepest NHL draft since the historic 2003 draft. If you look at the players available at picks #21, 25 and 31, the Sabres could have been stacked for the next decade if they hit on those picks (and I know it’s not guaranteed that we would have).
  8. Nice! I’ve been pretty anxious to see how he looks in the AHL.
  9. I actually think Belichick would probably kind of like it if Brady forced his way out. It would give BB a chance to win without Tom Brady and show he was more responsible for their dynasty than Brady was. And Brady isn’t looking nearly as dangerous as in years past. He could potentially struggle quite a bit if he leaves that NE system he’s been in his entire career.
  10. Wow the jets are getting completely embarrassed so far.
  11. another respected analytics guy who likes what is going on in Buffalo. This is weird... I can’t remember the Sabres ever getting love from the analytics community (except for Dahlin, anyway).
  12. https://theathletic.com/1301489/2019/10/17/16-stats-the-surging-sabres-surprising-starts-and-stanley-cup-slumps/ There’s more in the link (athletic subscription required). This is from Dom Luszczyszyn at the Athletic. Here’s his bio for reference: “Dom is a national NHL reporter for The Athletic who writes primarily about hockey analytics and new ways of looking at the game. Previously he’s also worked at The Hockey News, The Nation Network, and Hockey Graphs.” Last year, he was never high on the Sabres, even during the 10 game win streak. He continually pointed out how poor their underlying analytics were. He seems much more impressed with this year’s team.
  13. Sorry if this was already posted (didn’t feel like looking through 17 pages) What a play by Jordan Phillips! Wow!
  14. Well, that definitely wasn’t the type of win I was hoping for. But a win’s a win. I’ll take it.
  15. I get that they like Bojo, and he can absolutely boom a punt from time to time. But he’s just too inconsistent.
  16. Wow. Not even close. What is with Allen’s deep ball this year? Has he hit a single one? BTW, We needed 5 yards, and were about 15yds from field goal range. I get taking a deep shot, but not when Allen has been so god awful on every one.
  17. Very nice drive by Allen and the Bills offense.
  18. Duuukkee! Edit - hope he’s ok.
  19. Keep running the ball. It’s working a lot better than passing the ball is.
  20. I’m about there myself. I honestly csnt can’t tell you the last time I walked away from a Bills game. But I just don’t know if I can stomach such an embarrassing loss to Miami today. Thinking about taking my dog for a walk or something. But I worry that I’ll walk away and miss a Bills comeback win and then kick myself. I hate being a Bills fan sometimes. lol
  21. Nothing else really matters this season if Josh Allen doesn’t start to look/play better. The Bills will never be a true playoff contender until they have a good starting QB. Josh has a long way to go yet. I’m not giving up on him by any means, but it’s definitely s reality check seeing him play like this against the clear cut worst team in the entire NFL.
  22. I agree. He hasn’t looked too great so far today. He’s had a few nice passes and runs, but other than that he’s struggling IMO. I was really hoping for a stand out game from Josh today, since this defense is ranked near last in everything. There’s still time though!
