  1. Is that really the case anymore though, with Scandella and Bogosian gone? Iirc They are now down to 6 NHL defenseman on their roster, with John Gilmour serving the role of healthy scratch #7. Im sure they eventually want to make a full time spot for Pilut, but every team has NHL prospects in their farm system. I refuse to take that as an excuse for Botterill to get worked in a trade. There’s no reason Botterill shouldn’t be able to get proper value in a trade now, otherwise there’s no real reason to make the trade. All the UFA d men are gone. Same goes for the summer. The only prospect really pounding on the door is Pilut. They don’t have to trade a defenseman if they’re not getting the return they want.
  2. Just saw this too - That also helps explain the better return.
  3. https://medium.com/the-hit-job/what-happened-to-nfl-punter-marquette-king-bddadbe35244 Interesting read on King. The guy is a character, that’s for sure.
  4. Hope this doesn’t take Winnipeg out of the market for a RHD. It shouldn’t. DeMelo is more of a 2nd/3rd pairing RD. Any major trades are likely to happen in the summer anyway, especially if Buffalo wants a good NHL forward in return. Not many teams are looking to subtract from their NHL rosters at the deadline and I don’t want Botterill settling for draft picks if he’s trading a player like Risto or Montour.
  5. This documentary is airing for the first time in the U.S. tonight. It will be on at 10:30pm on NBCSN (channel 35 for me on spectrum). McDavid is a beast!

  8. I heard he didn’t report to Rochester. Figured this was coming. I believe now he doesn’t get paid until he reports.
  9. Ok, finally just finished listening to this interview. The Eichel interview starts about 56-57 minutes in and runs for at least 45 minutes. Right around the 1 hour mark he talks about how amazing Ralph Krueger has been for this team (and himself). He LOVES Krueger. Basically says (implies) that coaching this season is night and day from previous seasons. It is is well worth listening to. The entire interview is great.
  10. Wow. It seems like a sellers market at the moment. Dude is 28 and has a career high of 22 goals and 36 points. He’s on pace to break that this year (21g, 31pts), but still, that seems like quite a steep price for Coleman. They're getting Vancouver’s 1st round pick + Nolan Foote, Who Tampa Bay just drafted in the 1st round this past draft (2019). Im guessing Coleman being signed to a bargain deal that runs the next season played a part here. Tampa has some cap issues this summer. I mean, tey basically got as much for Blake freaking Coleman (with 1 year left on his deal) as Botterill got for ROR (with 5yrs left on his deal). I think i’d actually prefer Vancouver’s 1st and Nolan Foote... ??‍♂️ A 2nd + a pretty good prospect for a 37yr old defenseman... Tom Fitzgerald is making some nice trades as NJ interim GM.
  11. Haven't had a chance to listen yet but I bet it will be a pretty good interview. eichel interview starts just past 56 mins in.

  13. Yeah I was going to mention that too. But I decided to double check just to make sure first and was surprised to learn that wasn’t true. He only played forward for about 25 games during his 3rd and 4th seasons (age 20 and 21). https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/heres-why-it-took-so-long-for-housley-to-make-hhof-grade
  14. I feel like It’s been quite a while since there was so many good coaches on the market at the same time.
  15. 3 more points and he will be 2nd in NHL history. No way he catches Housley for #1. I’m not sure any teenage defenseman ever will. But that was during the “live puck era”.
  16. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/evan-rodrigues-postgame-21320/t-277437090/c-5252106 (ERod post game) https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/jack-eichel-postgame-21320/t-277437090/c-5252210 (Eichel post game) Sounds like having Olofsson back gave the team some confidence. Hopefully they can start putting some wins together now. Good to see Skinner looking more like himself. He had a good game. He was playing with that edge we saw last year. If he keeps playing like he did tonight, it’s only a matter of time until he starts scoring., and that could really help the Sabres finish strong if that happens.
  17. I win! Edit -, wait, or you win? lol Eh, whatever. I finally got to see a win in person. My streak would’ve hit 3 years if they had lost tonight.
  18. https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/opinion/olofsson-and-okposo-return-to-the-lineup-against-columbus Olofsson and Okposo back in the lineup tonight. I’ll be at the game, so I fully expect another loss. But at least I’ll get to see Olofsson.
