Also confirms the defense production act has not actually been invoked (despite claims that it has) I thought there were other benefits to invoking the DPA, like being able to keep foreign countries from buying supplies/equipment needed here (and so our states aren’t competing against foreign nations to buy it), and funding for the increased production of these goods? (I’m not sure though)

That 15 day period he is referring to is the “national pause” he called for a few days ago (that 1/2 the country isn’t even following) I hope he’s not saying that he plans to lift any “stay at home” orders at the end of the 15 days because of what it’s doing to the economy. Not sure what else he means by “we can’t let the cure be worse than the problem itself”. The way I read it is he’s losing patience with what this pause is doing to the economy. Hope I’m wrong on that.

They’ve been around 750 a day for the last few days iirc. It was at 350 a day like a week ago or less, then quickly started doubling. You're right though its tough to keep it all straight. Things are changing so quickly every day. New York State is now up to over 15,000 confirmed cases. We were at 7,000 2-3 days ago and like 400 a week ago

I really hope it is coming. They’ve been saying it’s coming for over a week now, it’s shipped, you can get it. But everyone I know in healthcare is saying that is absolutely false. I pray it changes soon. As of last night there was still no proof that the defense production act was even invoked (despite saying it was multiple times now)

Free Agency News and Updates - around the league

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001107234/article/track-all-of-saturdays-nfl-free-agency-news Colts release Brian Hoyer. I wonder if the patriots will have any interest. -
I downloaded a free app called “7 minute workouts”. That’s about the level I’m currently at... ? It’s actually a cool free app though. You can track your weight/progress, you can design your own 7 minute routines (you get to choose from a bunch of different exercises from a number of different categories (legs, arms, abs, etc)) or choose from many pre-made ones. There’s a animated demonstration of each exercise that plays while you’re doing the exercise with a running timer (and you can click on each exercise for a more detailed video explanation with a real person instead of s computer animation). You can set the rest times between exercises (from 5 to 15 seconds). It also has a daily reminder to work out, which is nice. it also keeps track of the days you work out and tells you how many days you’ve done it consecutively (so it gives me motivation not to break my streak, or set a longer streak). There’s a bunch of cool workout apps out there. ones with much more advanced workouts. But I’m just trying to get started and make it a daily routine/habit for now. I just grabbed a few free apps. This one was the best of the bunch so far. I downloaded it on my tablet and I set it on a stand when doing the workouts. Phone would work too.

Piecemeal Fallout Pt One: Our LEO and public safety
BillsFan4 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Thank you for sharing this hapless. -
[edit: re Trump not empowering experts] Without going PPP, it appears that he just didn’t believe the experts, and spent months calling it media panic and an average flu (evidenced by so many who still believe that even now or are just realizing in the last week that it isn’t). as to there still not being any true coordinated 50 state/national plan, I have not a clue.

Definitely gut wrenching. And just when I felt like NY was making some real progress in their testing (NY tested at the highest rate per capita in the world over the last 24 hours. That’s what needs to be done IMO) https://abc7ny.com/health/nyc-health-officials-provide-limits-on-testing-patients-for-covid-19/6033992/ running out of protective equipment and oral swabs. Ugh.

COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic
BillsFan4 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in Off the Wall
Hapless is definitely the one to ask but I’ll try to help. https://www.health.com/condition/infectious-diseases/n95-respirator-mask-coronavirus They are actually trained how to wear+breath in these masks and how to properly remove+dispose them, etc. It can be difficult to breath for much more than 30 mins at a time (making them less practical for public use). It has to be a specific type of mask to be able to filter very small particles and must be worn properly at all times to offer protection. But, in my opinion it’s still not the worst idea to wear a cloth mask in public, just for the simple reason that it will keep you from accidentally touching your nose/mouth (most common way to get sick). And it may help slightly contain your cough/sneeze droplets but I’m not really sure on that (that may not be true, I don’t know and I don’t want to offer any incorrect info). Here’s the CDC FAQ on masks: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/topics/respirators/disp_part/respsource3healthcare.html -

OI debated posting this, and if Hapless or other mods think it should be removed, I fully understand. [Hap sez: I think everyone should watch it] This is starting to happen at hospitals in the U.S.. We are not immune to this, and the less we do right now the harder we are going to be hit. I understand that it may be frustrating but Please take these social distancing measures serious. -
Just imagine how much worse it would be in the coming weeks if we weren’t social distancing in NY right now. Imagine all those crowded NYC streets and how quickly it could spread.
