https://www.sciencealert.com/small-trial-found-antimalarial-is-not-effective-for-treating-coronavirus I pray that this drug does end up being effective for COVID19, but it’s just too soon to tell (and definitely way too soon to be telling anyone/everyone that it won’t hurt to take it...). another issue is that patients who are on this drug and truly Need it now can’t find it - https://www.npr.org/2020/04/01/825056946/why-lupus-patients-find-hydroxychloroquine-in-short-supply

I know of a couple friends of friends who have died, and my next door neighbor has at least 2 current cases in her family. Her young niece has it (she has asthma, they are worried) and her brother - he is one of the buffalo police officers that has COVID19. Her daughter was just sick too. They had to quarantine (though they were still out in their yard a lot... I kept more than my 6ft of distance! lol), but she just went back to work yesterday so it wasn’t covid. an acquaintance of mine’s neighbor died. He was in his 40’s and relatively healthy from what I’m told. And I have some friends and family down in NYC (some in healthcare). Thankfully I haven’t heard of anyone I know down there getting it yet (but I haven’t heard from some of them in weeks). One friend is a 65yr old doctor so I’m very worried about him. I talked to him recently. He’s taking every precaution he can, but being a practicing doctor puts him at obvious risk. They are really getting slammed down there.

It Has To be taken under a doctors supervision, and if combined with certain other drugs it can cause death or other life threatening side effects. Even all on its own it can cause life threatening side effects. It has a very narrow therapeutic window - the difference between an effective dose and a toxic dose is much smaller than other drugs. And it can have many very strange side effects. and it is an immuno-suppressive drug. It shuts down your immune system. That’s why they use it for diseases that attack your immune system like Rheumatoid arthritis (and also why they say people on immune-suppressive drugs are at higher risk of getting COVID19). So for people to take it that are not sick, it could actually cause a lot more harm than good by suppressing their immune system and making them more vulnerable to getting sick. Just look at the list of medications it interacts with- (there’s about 100. A huge number). Look at all the medical problems you have to be cautious of when taking this drug. https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/hydroxychloroquine-oral-route/precautions/drg-20064216?p=1

Yes, the answer is quite clearly that we need more ventilators from the federal stockpile. also, iirc Mark poloncarz said that he isn’t giving up any of our ventilators in Erie county. I’m hoping that we are exempt anyway since our case #’s are the second highest in the state. As you said we are likely going to need all our ventilators. I don’t envy the position Cuomo is in though. It’s a no-win situation. Do you let people in NYC die now to save people upstate later? Do you let people upstate die later to save people in NYC? It’s not a decision he should even have to make. We should be given enough ventilators to fill our current need.

NPCs Make Fallout 76 Feel More Alive.
BillsFan4 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I haven’t played fallout ‘76. But Yes, fallout 4 is definitely more refined compared to fallout 3. But it’s never going to be halo (it is similar to GTA in my opinion, another game with clunky combat mechanics imo). The gaming engine they use is just different than halo. I felt the same way as you when I first started playing fallout 3. I died an awful lot in the beginning. I’m not sure why I ended up sticking with it but I did, and now fallout is one of my favorite game series ever. I’ve played fallout 3, fallout new Vegas (buggy) and fallout 4 (best fallout game IMO. Graphics are amazing). -
1140 ventilators were donated to NYS today - 140 from Oregon and 1000 from China. https://www.oregonlive.com/coronavirus/2020/04/oregon-sends-140-ventilators-to-new-york-gov-kate-brown-we-are-all-in-this-together.html?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true Im hoping that means our ventilators stay in WNY. I don’t envy the position Cuomo is in though. It’s a no-win decision. Either way people likely die. Not a decision i’d want to make. Clearly the answer is that NYS needs more ventilators (despite what the federal govt. is saying). I’m praying they find enough to fill their needs and nobody upstate or in NYC has to go without them.
