https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/opinion/kevyn-adams-has-a-low-bar-to-clear-for-drafting ‘Kevyn Adams has a low bar to clear for drafting’ I think he meant “outside the first round” is not a pretty sight either (and it’s not).

Does the NFL have a bubble plan? Covid rising
BillsFan4 replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OMG I almost spit out my drink laughing! ?? You forgot about testing though. We need to do away with that too. No testing = no cases. Like for example, Recently my GF told me she might be pregnant. I told her not to take a pregnancy test because I’m not ready for a kid. No positive test = no kid. Problem solved! -

@plenzmd1 this is your post from the facts thread (I don’t know how to quote a post in a different thread). It’s not surprising to see that they suspect the protests are causing covid spikes. With so many people packed close together, chanting/singing/yelling, the potential was always there. I wonder why their contact tracing program doesn’t track cases that stem from public settings? That seems like a pretty big hole in the tracing program. Is it just too hard, or what? She also mentions restaurants and workplaces I saw she said this as well: https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020/06/16/1000-la-county-restaurants-not-complying-with-health-orders/ Thats another likely source for the spikes for sure (IMO). It’s an indoor setting, where we know covid can spread easier than it can outdoors. And People can’t eat with a mask on. They’re also more likely to have hand to mouth contact of some type (either touching/wiping their mouth, or touching their food with their hands and then putting it in their mouth). Many people seem to be done worrying about this virus. But as Dr. Ferrer said: Nothing has changed as we open up. The virus is still here. It still spreads the same way. There’s still potential for new outbreaks. People can’t let their guards down. We still have to follow all the health+safety guidelines. It’s even more important now.

Interview w/Kevyn Adams from 2007 when he joined the blackhawks. https://www.nhl.com/blackhawks/news/ask-the-hawks-kevyn-adams/c-476928 He ended up being roommates with Pat Kane during Kane’s rookie year with the Blackhawks.

There is quite obviously a chance we won’t have pro sports this year but as of now I’m still hopeful for an NFL/NHL/MLB season, even if it may have to happen with limited (or no) fans (hopefully that’s not the case). Professional sports is such a massive business. I think they will do everything in their power to avoid completely losing out on all that revenue. Money is a huge motivating factor. I think they will get creative with their solutions. Only time will tell though. Nobody has any definitive answers right now. There’s a lot that we just don’t know yet. We’ll just have to wait and see. All this stuff is out of my control. All I can really do is my small part: follow the guidelines. I feel like the more of us that do our small part, and the more we can cut down on the spread of this virus, the better chance that we have pro sports. Just my opinion though.

https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/buffalo-sabres-kevyn-adams-general-manager/c-317188682 From the Sabres site. Hopefully that means they’re going to let him surround himself with the type of people he will need to succeed, even if it costs some $$. The Pegulas would be foolish not to let him. They’re going to look pretty bad if Adams flops. I don’t know if Justin Williams is done playing, but man it would be amazing if Adams was able to lure him to buffalo for a season. He’s exactly the Chris Drury type of leader that locker room needs. I doubt it happens though. Patrick Sharp had some good things to say about Kevyn Adams leadership too (in the “our line starts” podcast). Said he was big for rookie Jonathan Toews. Said JT leaned on him a lot his rookie year.

I just meant that it looks bad after the season he just had. If he gets back to his normal point production it won’t look as bad. But even at the time it was signed it looked like an overpayment. I totally get the reasons why they did it. As you said they were desperate for goal scorers, especially at even strength. Plus it sent a better message to Eichel & the team not to let him walk. I didn’t want them to go over $8 x 8 though, even if that meant letting him at least hit the tampering window of free agency. I didn’t think he would get more than $8M on the open market and other teams could only offer 7 years (I thought he’d get something in the $7+M range, but who knows). Plus with him reportedly wanting to play close to his family, I felt we did have some leverage there. Im still glad they didn’t let him walk.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/31-thoughts-breaking-major-nhl-awards-races/ Some interesting stuff from Elliotte Friedman’s 31 thoughts. I posted the Sabres related stuff in the NHL thread, but didn’t want to potentially derail the Sabres thread with covid talk so I figured I’d post this part here.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/31-thoughts-breaking-major-nhl-awards-races/ Cant make this **** up! ? ?♂️ Edit, more: Skinner deal looks bad right now, but wow, thank heavens he was overruled on the Eichel contract! A long term deal would be way more expensive now after the season he just had + the deals that have been signed since his, like Matthews/Marner deals. And if he had signed a bridge deal, can you imagine having to try and convince Eichel to sign long term in buffalo this offseason or next? ? Or if botterill had went with a 4-5 year term, he’d have walked Eichel right to UFA. Interesting.

Nice!

Is this all because they haven’t given him a long term deal yet? (that’s what I read) Its not exactly like everything in the NFL is just business as usual at the moment. There’s an awful lot of uncertainty. The Jets picked up his 5th year option, so he’s already under contract for this season and next. I don’t know that their #1 priority right now is a huge contract for a safety who’s still under contract 2 more seasons.

From 2015: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/743992 Plus 18 scouts: So it’s not unprecedented. I just wish wish I felt like this Sabres purge was part of a thorough review of the entire organization and the plan was to replace them with better hires, like the “Shana-plan” in Toronto. The Sabres purge feels like it’s all about saving money, not getting better.

The sheriff was in close contact with people. You posted that article replying to a sheriff who got covid-19 after having close interactions with people while not wearing a mask (and he was outdoors, at least from looking at the video). So I assumed that’s what you were posting that article for and posted the NEJM article that addressed that perspective article you posted. https://www.pinalcentral.com/breaking/sheriff-lamb-tests-positive-for-covid-19/article_72e94d2e-852a-57ae-ba90-0cbfafa29284.html The event where he believe he caught covid-19 appears to have been outdoors. How long was he with each person? A few minutes? I doubt it was 15+ minutes (the amount of time I’ve seen referenced as “sustained close contact”). As far as wearing a mask in a store, i would have linked to other articles/studies if that was what we were discussing.

Hey @Hapless Bills Fan did you see this? https://connectingvets.radio.com/articles/fort-benning-confirms-142-covid-19-cases-in-2-battalions “8 days after quarantine and testing negative, 142 Fort Benning soldiers test positive for COVID-19” Did an asymptomatic carrier get past the screening (false negative test) maybe?

Full interview is worth listening to. He thinks pro sports are going to be a lot different for (at least) the next 18 months. He says there’s no way the players get their normal salaries next season. Buffalo stuff starts at about 14 minutes.
