  1. Shaw simply pointed out Zay Jones is middle of the pack as a # 2 in his 2nd season under not so great conditions. Looks like Alpha did some heavy partying over New Years because his reply missed the mark IMO. With all due respect to Alpha because we normally see eye to eye. Zay what ? (to all the skeptics) Zay, give him a chance, and lets continue this discussion at the end of next season...
  2. The 10 + yards per pass attempt helps illustrate the lower number of check down/higher percentage plays most rookie QB's would take advantage of IMO. I'm not saying its always a good stat to have depending on the circumstances, but it suggests to me no play is to big for Josh Allen including 3rd and forever. (20 +) We've seen Big Ben make the same kind of 20+ throws for a 1st down on many occasions. I agree, both Allen and Edmunds are a work in progress. Stats don't lie. Rookie mistakes while leading the youngest team in the league resulted in a losing record. With that being said the Buffalo Bills ended the year with allot of high expectations for next season. 10 - 6 OR BETTER sounds about right to me.
  3. Both Fitz and Josh Allen by way of wonderlic are two of the smartest QB's in the league. Also two of the most fearless. Difference being one is a savvy vet, the other a rookie learning on the run. (literally) Fitzy lacks the sufficient arm strength it takes to succeed at a high level in the NFL IMO. Allen on the other hand/arm at times, has to much arm strength on display. Myself personally, the progress Josh Allen has made as a rookie in a not so perfect situation around him has been impressive. My hat goes off to the posters that wanted to see Allen on the field sooner vs later and I feel like we are one season ahead of schedule now because of it. I'm into stats myself and have used them in many discussions. Speaking of stats, Josh Allen 10 + yards per pass attempt average was higher then any QB in the NFL.
  4. When you take into consideration the below average pass protection/ supporting cast. The drops, the lazy route running by our #1. ( If you can call him that) Then take into account the leadership, grit and determination Josh Allen displayed/provided, literally carrying the team on his back at times. The athleticism, biggest cannon the NFL has ever seen, the on the edge of your seat entertainment every time Josh Allen touches the ball. All things considered/ combined. Stats really don't tell the whole story in my humble opinion Shaw.
  5. Just a little, lol I've been asking, ok, begging Santa for a franchise QB to long my friend,
  6. Once upon a time an athlete by the name of Cam Newton was created by the football Gods. Bringing forth the New Era power forward/QB into the NFL. As Newton commenced to breaking records on the ground and through the air, ripping a new A hole into opposing Defenses across the league. "We can make him stronger, and we can make him smarter "said one football God to another, and to make things more interesting we will make him one Buffalo strong. The other football God chuckled and said "4 straight superbowl losses, no QB to speak of for almost 2 decades, I like that idea, lets make him one Buffalo strong. and name him Josh Allen...
  7. The athleticism of Josh Allen is doing a good job making a below average Oline suffice in my humble opinion. I do however agree with you on the McCoy/ role player/ less money comment and would prefer Ivory as the featured Bills RB next season. (Along with drafting a rookie)
  8. Yes, Allens 1st season as a rookie was very entertaining for me. Haven't been this optimistic in ages. Watching the future of the franchise show the football world why the Buffalo Bills picked him was awesome.
  9. Thanks so much Shaw for the enjoyable reviews this season. Kyle Williams exemplifies the kind of player/man Bills HC McD wants to see playing for him in my humble opinion. What Williams brought to the table is something that will live on in our young core of players. It was kind of a bitter, sweet game for me watching Williams in a Bills uni for the last time, sad because a player/person like Kyle Williams can never be replaced on or off the field. Happy because we had the honor of watching him begin and end his pro football career one Buffalo strong. Myself personally, despite the losing record the season will be a memorable one. Josh Allens development is much further along then one would have expected at this point. Bills D was oh so close to ending the regular season top dog in the NFL. The future looks bright. Thanks again OP for all you do and a closer look at Kyle Williams is something I'll look forward to reading. Have a safe and happy New Year everyone.
  10. Myself personally, Allens pocket awareness and throwing mechanics have continued to improve in my humble opinion. It would not surprise me to see Josh Allens accuracy problems become a thing of the past as Buffalo upgrades the supporting cast around him. The sky really is the limit with this kid IMO.
  11. From my coach potato perspective Shaw I thought you guys did a great job and was actually surprised at how loud and fired up Bills/fans appeared to be in a meaningless game. Josh Allen might have something to do with it. Well done fellas. Another enjoyable read per the usual OP, much appreciated. Stay safe through the holidays everyone.
  12. I get where your coming from OP , a little Nasty on the Oline doesn't hurt my feelings. Players like Incognito striking the fear of God into opposing defenders works for me. On the other hand McD preaches play smart and let the officials do their jobs so... Note: I started a thread years ago here on TSW called "Protect the baby" (Trent Edwards) Gotta a little grief from my fellow patrons over the thread title, hehe Needles to say, we didn't protect the baby.
  13. Its hard not to put Mayfield at the top of the list by way of 1st season rookie play/accomplishments IMO, and good for the Browns organization. Like Buffalo its been a long time coming. but I gotta tell you John, I would not trade Josh Allen away for anyone.
  14. Cam Newton and Josh Allen are somewhat similar in size and running ability. Newton has been a scoring machine both running and throwing the football carrying the power forward style QB play to a whole new level in the NFL IMO. This is something McD witnessed 1st hand and I would not be surprised to see Daboll give Allen the green light to run on any given play. I get where your coming from, Allen has a good head on his shoulders and the biggest cannon in the league. Myself personally though, I'm expecting Josh Allen to use all the gifts the football gods gave him and along with McD's D , take us where no Bills fan has gone before. MERCY LeGOATski!!!
  15. I know the shoot out had me on the edge of my seat last night. A little nervous about todays game, but not much and I think Buffalo comes into the game relaxed and loaded for Jag. Go Bills/Sabres!
  16. Happy turkey day you turkeys!
  17. I felt much the same way. I understand the importance of getting Allen game experience , but I also understand the importance of good QB play. I'm a huge Josh Allen fan and for Barkley to have me torn between the two of them starting kinda caught me by surprise.
  18. QB's take time to develop. Sometimes finding the right match between OC and QB takes time. Barkley has had a few 300 + games not to long ago. I'm not saying he's our knight in shining armor , but seeing an actual NFL passing attack that showed potential was a sight for sore eyes around these parts in my humble opinion. Barkley played with less then two weeks time in the Daboll system leaving lots of room for growth and improvement IMO. With all due respect my friend
  19. Do you consider Buffalo's O a good supporting cast? because I sure don't yet Barkley looked better in the passing game then any Bills QB I have seen over the last 3 years IMO. Good QB's can make average WR's look good and thats exactly what Barkley did vs Jets IMO. Albeit was just one game, but If you can do it once it can be done again in my humble opinion. I'm curious to see If Barkley can sustain good play because he appears light years ahead of Allen operating the Daboll O.
  20. I'll bite OP, and this is coming from a big T Mobile fan, Allen is almost to the point of being able to manage a game as well as Taylor already as a rookie in my humble opinion. Barkley in less then two weeks time in Buffalo made them both look bad... ...I'm just saying...
  21. QB's with greater arm strength like JK throw their share of INT's and If you look at most successful NFL QB's you will normally see the TD to INT ratio get better with experience IMO. Point taken, although I don't think Barkley was blindly playing agressive.
  22. Throwing a WR open requires aggressive play IMO. It helps to have an aggressive WR on the other end that at the very least helps his QB out by disrupting the DB making a play for the football (on errant throws or in tight coverage) Barkley is seeing the field very well IMO, and seemed for one game anyway to fit nicely into what Daboll is trying to do on the football field. Myself personally, huge Josh Allen fan. On the other hand I'm an even bigger fan of my Buffalo Bills football team and Barkley made my team look to good to ignore. I also think Allen might learn a few things watching Barkley operate the Daboll Offense.
