Can you play the press conference where Sean McDermott said he wants Josh Allen to stop making plays? He certainly did say on Sunday I want a physical offense.. he shot back at the question about running and he did say you can be physical running and passing He didn't say I want to run the ball he said I want to be physical "I know the value of being a two-dimensional offense. I do value physical football, and it starts up front, whether you're throwing it or you're running it We just don't have brown Beasley and digs to open up the passing game but we do have the lineup front to run the ball and win NFL games and then when Josh needs to make some plays he can and he typically does James Cook is a great football player and he's helping our team.. I have no doubt McDermott would throw the ball more if we had better wide receivers but everything he said is correct you do need to be able to do both Our passing game needs to improve but I don't think Sean McDermott is okay where it's at.. he certainly wants it better

As McDermott said in his press conference on Sunday physicality can be in the passing game also he wants a physical offense.. whether it's passing or running It all starts up front... You could be physical and a passing offense Yeah Josh Allen led the league in interceptions in 2023 if I recall... That's what he had to change some decision-making ... Brett favre is one of the best quarterbacks ever and he has the most interceptions ever... But he could have cleaned up his game a little bit I've never heard Sean McDermott say Josh Allen needs to stop playing with passion and being a playmaker

Well this just shows the bias that happens in each individual game Our pass rush is actually pretty good and there's zero chance they're not getting held but they call it on us Part of the little things in football

Game week thread - Chiefs at Bills (Video preview on pg. 19)

When you put eight men in the box it's a lot easier to break off that 60-yard rushing touchdown that James Cook had last week .. Greg Olsen said it himself You just need to hit the hole and make one person Miss and you're gone... A talented running back if you're going to do that all game will make you pay a couple times Compared to six or seven in the box with two high safeties and you might get five or six yards of carry but you're not going for a 60-yard td If they want to stack The box James Cook is going to hit them for a couple big ones -
DT Mike Pennel is available / Bills Host DT’s for Tryout

Thank God he's literally not moving anymore lol He doesn't have a quarterback pressure on the season and he's not stuffing the run great When the bills bring back retreads they are retreads on the board.. this is the same for the Chiefs They have a problem at defensive tackle and they're trying to patch it with an old Jag -

I mean he likes to touch grown men.... Could you imagine him in the showers -
You saw it coming yeah.. but again maybe you're just looking at how the personnel on the bills came together... There is a lot of turnover in the NFL That doesn't mean this is how it's going to be in 4 years that's also the truth If it is there's a problem.. nothing from McDermott says he wants this all the time.. in fact in his press conference somebody said you say you love the running game and he snapped back and said I have never said that He wants to win on Sunday the best way possible.. which right now is obviously not throwing the ball 50 times over the yard with the wide receivers we have Him or beane is not going to have a job in 2 years if they don't fix the passing game

Maybe you just saw the writing on the wall that our second best player was a running back If we draft a stud wide receiver or trade for one we're going to throw the ball I have no doubt about that I'm pretty sure Joe Brady was Joe burrows passing game coordinator when he broke every single college football record and won the Heisman.. if Brady had weapons to scheme around like Joe borough LSU I do believe he would throw the ball Just right now it's built around Josh Allen in offensive line and a top running back... And it's a lot easier said than done just to bring in a future All-Pro wide receiver Last year was basically the same thing you just got to make do with what you have I think McDermott is a very good coach.. yet if he told Terry pegula he's going to turn into a 1970s ground and pound football team for the rest of Josh Allen's career I have no doubt Terry pegula would get rid of him because that's not feasible long-term... You do need balance but long-term it has to be Josh Allen's team and built around him But this is what we have right now
-
Tom Brady had plenty of passing offenses that looked out of whack in week 7 with a bunch of slot receivers And they would figure it out because they drilled it in practice.. Josh has to hold his wide receivers accountable and make them put in as much work as he is and build a rapport

Hairston is gonna be like glue on worthy and this is the game Benford steps up and he's built for a guy like rice too I actually like these two matchups they shouldn't be able to exploit them -
Diggs was also going through stuff that last year here... Half of this website was already over him... He was banged up.. and he was dropping balls he used to catch Diggs on tape did not look like the same guy and there were 10,000 rumblings he was disgruntled Also disappeared in playoff games... Diggs was phenomenal but his last year here especially the last half of the season left a lot to be desired in his own play We had Josh throwing 600 times a year in 2021.. McDermott certainly will be open to it if it's what's moving the ball consistently

It's also a year to year league in the NFL I'm sure if we had pro bowl wide receivers we would be airing it out.. they are making do with what they have , one of the top run blocking lines in the league and an explosive running back This was the team that was willing to come out of the gates throwing 15 straight times when they had Beasley Brown and diggs.. They would air the ball out if they had those weapons again I don't believe they're intentionally neutering Josh Allen.. James Cook is more efficient than the passing options rn If we had our passing options from 4-5 years ago, and Devin singletary.. they're not running the rock like this

Reis is definitely a Hall of famer There is no pure coordinator in the Hall of Fame so by default spagnola is not a Hall of famer.. that's reserved for coaches who get it done at coordinator and head coach There's been a lot of very good coordinators it's what you do after that sets you apart -
Joe B (The Athletic) on passing game problems (with data)
Buffalo716 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a rhythm passing game the biggest thing is being on the exact same page Like the one thing I'd like to see Josh take control of is command of the entire offense.. Peyton Manning Tom Brady style... Those guys drilled everything.. we're running a square in you take 12 steps, boom, square in right at this spot.. ball comes hit you here And they do that a hundred times in practice and then it comes to game and Tom Brady does it in his sleep It's why guys like Harry couldn't play good for Tom Brady because he couldn't master I need to run the route this way for Tom Brady to throw me the ball We have so much ability to create that I think there's not much fluidity even on the rhythm passes But Peyton Manning would be like no the square in you're taking 12 steps making your break and you're not getting it if you're not doing it that way But that made consistency for ball placement and route running -

OJ had 273 yards rushing and the Bills lost...

That's crazy that Bruce Smith who is absolutely right there with Reggie White And played in a 3-4 has fallen that far in some people's eyes I can't see any world where he's not a top 10 football player of all time it's Bruce Smith.. and OJ was absolutely seen as Jim Brown's equal before all the extracurricular stuff -

This is the modern day Manning Brady At this age Peyton Manning also had not won a super bowl either there's a lot of good football left in Josh Allen -

That's true but I can agree to disagree and we're on a message board to discuss I don't do it every single time in fact I've probably done it four times in 8 years Of course nobody's required to do anything I actually like hearing other people's opinions and it's okay if they don't want to share them -

Well Calais Campbell is a Hall of famer.. this guy is finding his niche in the NFL still But he's been an off-ball linebacker defensive end defensive tackle in college it shows he's a pure football player -
Ed Oliver bicep injury - likely out regular season
Buffalo716 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well he might not be 310 lb like listed lol He could be 290 tho... Even Chris Jones plays on the edge occasionally and he's 300 lb it does happen occasionally Hoecht like Lorenzo Alexander has been everything from 300 lb to 260 but he looks a lot bigger than 260-270 right now.. I'd say he's probably 285 290 -

Buffalo716 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is no way hoecht is 285-290 or there's no way JJ Watt was 295? Hoecht was huge at Brown easily in the 300s so he can hold weight
