RD1, Pick 7: Josh Allen QB - Wyoming
Golden*Wheels replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, not gonna lie, he wasn't the Josh I wanted when I saw they traded up but it is what it is. We'll see how it works out, and I'll support the guy as I would any other QB of our Buffalo Bills. The fact that we didn't give up the farm to move up to get him at least helped me sleep last night. That, and all the scotch. -
I'll look into what day is kid's day this year....I'd really like to go when it's warm (Buffalo ambience be damned!!!)
-
10 and 6...I'd only be going if we got club seats. Though I still have to deal with the parking lot, of course!
-
Better man than me! I'm hoping to maybe take the fam to the home opener, kids haven't seen the stadium yet and it's been years since me and the wife went.

Connor McDermott (Bills OT) on Josh Rosen
Golden*Wheels replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree but to me this is like...well I'm struggling to make a good analogy. But I'd say it's a job where the physical demands are more important than the social ones. Let's say your ability to throw the ball is more important than dealing directly with the "customer". Though of course, this is a special job, and the PR part is super important too. It's a tough split. I agree that in a super qualified field, the little differences can be the decider. -
Connor McDermott (Bills OT) on Josh Rosen
Golden*Wheels replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well there's a LOT more than 2 man, but I get the 'joke'. I understand that it's considered a potential long term relationship....but unless coach is assuming he's likely picking the wrong guy, he pretty much has to consider every 1st round pick a long term relationship. The fact that a lot more rides on a QB than say, a CB or a WR, to me means this is where you need to be MORE flexible with your personal feelings and make sure simply you get the best guy. Make "process" points with the rest of the team with the punter or second string safety or something. With Qb...get the best player. -
Connor McDermott (Bills OT) on Josh Rosen
Golden*Wheels replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could be but I also think McDermott is smart enough to be flexible when it benefits the team. That is, I don't think he's picking a lesser rated QB (or rating Qbs lesser in major, board breaking ways ) based on said QB not being 'straight laced as the come', which isn't a typical trait of any young man entering adulthood. Also....there are some super conservative Jewish folks out there. -
4-20: NFL MJ Testing Starts Today ?

Well, I'll be vaping and watching "News 8 Sports: The Buffalo Bills are going to the Playoffs" on youtube, making it just another Friday night at my house. -

Don't forget that he 'doesn't fit the culture' and 'isn't McDermott's kind of guy', from guys not in the culture not named McDermott. -
Agreed 100%. I like the regularity of 1pm starts and if I'm gonna lose a nighy and a morning to a primetime game, I'd rather it's Mondya than Sunday or (ugh) Thursday. Kind of weird how we don't play a division game until week 8 tho....I guess that's good? 2 days of "work", such as it is. Wait two days?

Honestly, lame as this may be, right now it's Andy Dalton getting us into the playoffs. My sons are 10 and 6. I have been married to my wife for 12 years. They are all good Bills fans who had NEVER seen ANY real success, ANYTHING that meant a damn thing at the end of the day. But they keep the faith. Well, I got a ton of joy from my family losing our collective minds (including my mother in law, who decided just this year to start watching games with us) when Andy Dalton hit that TD pass. (My ten year old isn't really a sports guy though, and when we lost to the Jags, he cried. I was really surprised because he's never cared THAT much. I said to my wife, man this really upset him, I didn't think he cared this much. She said, he's upset because he wanted you to be as happy as you were last week when we won. Damn son. Damn. )

Lesean McCoy tweet. Mean anything?
Golden*Wheels replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well now I can just put it out of my mind completely. Not only does it SEEM far fetched, it IS far fetched. Far-fetched-ness confirmed, moving on... -
Lesean McCoy tweet. Mean anything?
Golden*Wheels replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems far fetched but I keep coming back to this. They get their "Saquon" in Lesean, albeit having to pay a bigger contract, AND Pick up a bunch of picks. Makes moving back out of the top 10 more palatable IMO. You've obviously got the Gettleman/Beane Connection, as well as Shurmur being the OC for 2 years while Lesean was there. It almost makes...sense. -
Buffalo Bills ink.......do you have any?
Golden*Wheels replied to Frez's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
not mine but man I am saving up! -
Jerry Sullivan: Ralph Wilson Was A Cheapskate
Golden*Wheels replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know that having huge coaching and training staff actually leads to wins or success...but the one time I saw an article on it many years back, we were ahead of only team so far as total # of coaches/trainers, the Bengals. Whose owner is not generally known for his freespendin' ways. I got the general feeling anywhere he could be cheap in regards to the team, he was. In the end I choose to look back at the good (the team is still in Buffalo) because the rest doesn't matter any more. -
Rex Ryan expects the Bills to make huge offer for #2.
Golden*Wheels replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah maybe I have been convinced by posts on here. Have read a lot of that logic. Can't say the comparisons to 2004 didn't' help that either (that is, the next level down won't be nearly as good). I hate to admit it....part of it is also me being a jelly lil biotch, wanting to leapfrog the jets and stick it to them. God I hate the jets. -

I'm with it until the ellipsis! I've gone from not wanting to trade up to being willing to give up the farm. Not sure why. -
Wow. All I can come up with. Wow.

Nick Foles Could Be in Your Future
Golden*Wheels replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they miss out on their young QB....why WOULDN'T they want AJ to start? Kind of an odd "win-win" scenario if he does...we either stink and draft high next year, or he turns out to be a player we can build around. I think there is much more reason to believe Foles would make us an average 7-9 to 9-7 team again...which obviously sucks for the draft. And he isn't a franchise guy (if Beane thought he was, i think we'd have him already). Wouldn't make any sense to me Shaw. -
Did the Jets trade screw us?
Golden*Wheels replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Assuming the Giants want anything but a QB....If I was the Jets I'd just call the Giants and tell them "if anyone calls you for #2, we'll pay you X for you to move ONE spot back with us and we'll promise not to take the guy you want" Hell I might do that NOW if I was the Jets. I can't see the Giants going back to 12. I can see them flopping with the Jets. -
The Jets Just Made a Mistake
Golden*Wheels replied to BadLandsMeanie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Boy i don't think it is a mistake, though I did at first....now they can just say to the Giants....if anyone calls you to get #2, call us, we'll give you something decent to move back only one spot AND guarantee they won't take whomever the Giants want. Basically the Jets can rooster block us very easily from #3. Sure they have to give up even more but if they think anyone might leapfrog them to their guy, why wouldn't they? (If Giants go QB I'm all wrong but I am banking on them taking Saquon in this scenario) -
Josh Rosen: will he want to play here? ESPN discusses
Golden*Wheels replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dunno.....Bruschi seems to be trying to read more into Rosen's head than anything else. That said, yes, he's an idiot. BTW ESPN just gave him another "hit" on the "hit" counter. A counter which only ever existed for Teddy Bruschi. -
Agreed. The culture of a locker room or a workplace i think McDermott values is working toward one goal as a unit and buying into your coach and his vision. I think you can be a part of that 'culture' no matter what actual culture you come from.
