Defense: 1st Half vs 2nd Half - What is going on?
HappyDays replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
As for solutions... maybe be willing to play more man early on? I know that does not match up particularly well with the skill set of our CBs, but anything is better than letting offenses come out and easily pick up chunk yardage through our predictable zone spacing. If it's gonna be that easy, at least make their guys beat our guys. Also I think we should be telling the DL to be a bit more conservative early on. Multiple teams this year have taken advantage of our penetration style defense. It's getting us burned on draws and screens especially early in games. If our players aren't going to recognize when the OL is purposefully letting them get upfield, the coaches need to adjust their style. There's no reason it should take us an entire half to make these adjustments when every team is killing us in the same way. -

The injuries keep coming for KC. Not that it makes any kind of difference. The only team that can lose 4 starters and still be the clear Super Bowl favorites.

KC vs. Buffalo's record a microcosm of the Allen/Mahomes debate
HappyDays replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not really. We rank 19th in rush YPA at 4.2... Cook only got 2.7 YPA yesterday and he was our main back when the game was still in doubt. Brady clearly wants to run the ball so we have a lot of attempts but the efficiency isn't there. -
Amari Cooper is expected to play on Sunday

Kind of went under the radar with his other plays but this was my favorite play of his yesterday: We have not had anybody on the roster that can make this sort of play since Diggs fell off a cliff. Win against press with the release, then make a tough catch in a tight window. This is the kind of play that gets me really excited about the potential for this connection. When the Browns led by Joe Flacco had their run, plays like this were the formula - just throw the ball to Cooper 1v1 and he's likely to win with any kind of decent ball placement. Perfect fit for Allen's style. -

Correct. Fields would stare at the rush and then look to run before letting the play develop.
-
He hasn't played particularly well but he's managed the offense. Fields was out of the trust tree there because he wasn't executing. With hindsight those early 1st half misses feel more like shaking off the rust than fundamental problems. No one is mistaking Russell Willson with his Legion of Boom era self, but he is the best QB on their roster.
-
Lol this is the most predictable result of the season. Kicking myself for not betting the mortgage on Steelers ML.
-
It's better than Fields who misses reads, decides to run for no reason at times, and throws interceptable passes. Wilson is steady. And honestly throwing prayer balls to Pickens might just be a sound strategy.
-
See this is why Wilson is starting. Nothing flashy, he is just executing the offense.
-
I was just thinking exactly that. They need their best player to step up and make a play.
-
That's why they traded for Adams. Tackling machine.

Wow some of these catches are unbelievably good

Almost every target to Davante Adams has gone poorly

If Brian Daboll gets fired, would you take him as OC?
HappyDays replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brady is a perfectly average NFL OC. We should have higher aspirations than that. But no Daboll would not be the guy I'd want to replace him. If McDermott does somehow get a chance to hire yet another OC in the future, all I want is for him to run a real interview process instead of handing the job to somebody already in the building. -
He shouldn't be benched. Clearly he is not throwing the ball especially well but he's executing the offense. I don't think most people on here understand how poor Fields has been at seeing the field and executing his reads. Too many big mistakes as well.
-
Literally their whole offense tonight is just chucking the ball up to Pickens 1v1
-
Why is Pittsburgh playing with zero urgency right now? Are they just playing for a FG?

Amari Cooper is expected to play on Sunday

From Joe Buscaglia's recap: 10.4 yards per dropback when Cooper was on the field... Yeah this move probably saved the season. -
Whelp if he's gonna keep short hopping all of his passes they'll have no choice but to make a switch... But like they say, if you have two QBs you have none.

Calvin Austin. Very weird drop too, he had it secured and there was no contact but somehow it popped out as he was falling to the turf.
