  1. We don't have any signature plays down there. Half our plays are running Singletary straight into the line and praying for a massive hole, the other half is Allen sprinting to the right and praying the defense plays undisciplined. You'd think we would have specific red zone plays drawn up for Cook and Hines and even Knox. The whole "check the ball down all the way to the 10 yard line" strategy would work famously if we also had a top tier red zone offense. Since we don't, defenses have learned they can "bend don't break" us to death. And all the fans see the easy short completions that are there and wonder why we don't take them 100% of the time. I guess my point is that taking those easy completions doesn't automatically win you the game. Allen is forcing the issue because it's the only way we ever get big plays and long TDs from this offense. It would be sweet if those easy completions were to Hines who could gash off 20 yards after the catch just with pure speed. I don't know why we aren't fully utilizing the strengths of our personnel.
  2. Because we can't score TDs from inside the 20. We get all the way down there making it look easy, and then get stymied where it counts. When Knox dropped that pass I got the feeling that this game was either going to end in a tie or a loss. I had no hope for us scheming up a TD. I'm guessing Allen felt like had to win it all right there. It was not a good decision but I get where his head was at.
  3. But our offense can't just be check downs. We have to force the issue a bit because of how bad we are at scoring TDs in the red zone. Our offense by and large does not have issues moving the ball, but the last few games it's had issues punching it in.
  4. Get out of here with this crap. If Knox had caught the ball that hit his hands in the endzone, the narrative would be that despite some struggles Allen was the hero of the game, just like it was after the win against KC. This is a Bills forum, not a panel of talking heads. When we talk about Allen's performance we should look at the whole thing, not just the final play. This was NOT the Jets game or the 4th quarter of the Packers game where Allen actually played poorly. In this game he mostly played very well and made his usual number of impossible plays to bail the offense out of bad spots. If you want to blame him for the loss, go for it, but also accept that he was and always is the only reason we're in the game to begin with.
  5. Allen wasn't bad today. He just made a couple big mistakes in critical moments. The offense is literally all on his shoulders, like no other top offense in the league. We take some of those ridiculous plays where he gets out of trouble in the pocket for granted. And then everyone wants to hang him because of a bad throw at the end. Some of hid throws and runs today were eye popping. It sucks that he had a brain fart right at the end but it doesn't erase everything else he did up to that point. My biggest concern with the offense right now is NOT Allen, not even close. I'm concerned that we never find easy yards. It feels like every TD drive involves Allen escaping 3 sacks and trucking a LB or Diggs making a ridiculous one handed catch. That kind of high variance offense just isn't sustainable. We need to get Cook and Hines involved. Singletary is a nice player, would make a good #2 and a great #3 in a rotation heavy backfield, but his limits to this offense are obvious, and he has a fumble problem on top of his limitations. You can live with turnovers from elite players. For JAGs the leash is short. I can't remember which drive it was where we threw a swing pass to Singletary on 1st and 10 and it predictably went nowhere. Didn't we draft Cook and trade for Hines to make those plays? Dorsey has to find a way to make it easier for everyone on the field. The great coaches don't constantly rely on their players to make heroic plays, they occasionally chip in with a heroic play call. That's totally missing from our offense right now.
  6. He never should have thrown the ball on 4th and 2. I blame analytics. Coaches across the league are losing their common sense because a computer tells them to.
  7. Interestingly it looks Davis is going to be open if he flattens his route instead of angling towards the endzone. I still don't like the decision to force the throw into traffic though.
  8. I don't have it in me to go back and watch the replay, but it's an interesting take.
  9. He was patient in OT right until that last throw. Disappointing play.
  10. Maybe Tre will be ready next week? I mean this is getting ridiculous.
  11. I really hate this game. It isn't even that important for either team.
  12. This is half of the #1 defense in the league. This game so far is on the offense and coaching.
  13. Really hoping that 4th and 2 doesn't come back to bite us. The Vikings didn't try anything crazy, they just let the game come to them. That's how you win.
  14. That is crazy. Still need some soul searching from the coaches this week.
  15. Those 3 points are looking pretty good right about now. Truly garbage game management this half.
  16. This game is on the coaches.
  17. All you have to do is knock it down. Unbelievable
  18. DL picked a great time to show up. Bailed out the offensive coaching.
  19. Why a swing pass to Singletary?? What is the point of Hines on this roster?
  20. Should be 30-23 right now with us getting the ball back. I hate this over aggressive crap that has infected the NFL
  21. 3 points so far this half. That simply isn't good enough, not when we have the ball at the 5 yard line.
  22. Our defense has been good outside of one big run. That's why I don't get not taking the points on the last drive. Letting them hang around for no reason.
  23. I still can't believe we went for it on 4th down. I thought McDermott was smarter than that. Other teams that play us let the game come to them while we constantly try to throw knockout punches.
  24. I don't know why this team is afraid of field goals. Awful game management there.
  25. Cook looks so much better than Singletary to me. The burst makes a huge difference.
