  1. The Browns were the 6th rated offense by DVOA the week that we played them. 1+1 = 2. Water is wet.
  2. Dawkins is fine at LT, but if they draft a starting caliber LT and Dawkins pushes inside it still solves the problem. It also might be a better position for Dawkins to play as he gets older. It works out either way because they don't have to pigeonhole themselves to an o-lineman that plays at a certain spot. Any capable o-lineman will upgrade the line somewhere.
  3. If you message players' family members to criticize their play you're a POS.
  4. No. They beat the Browns offense which was the 6th rated offense by DVOA and we held them below their average production for the year. You have a real problem acknowledging facts that counter what you say. In the right situation I bet you would use DVOA to make your point for you, but because in this case it doesn't fit your agenda you have to misdirect. Not gonna work on me.
  5. Ditto for Jordan Phillips.
  6. I know as fans we look at the team's biggest needs when evaluating the draft class but you can't realistically expect a rookie to fill a hole for a whole year. If if works out that way, great, but really you're drafting players to become franchise cornerstones in year 2 or 3, especially when you're talking about low 1st round when all the blue chip players are long gone. So really our best opportunity for the OL to get better next year is for Spencer Brown and/or Tommy Doyle to improve, and find a veteran G to replace Saffold in FA. Generally I don't like taking any OL other than LT in the 1st round but I will say if we're drafting one in the 30-32 range I could live with it. We're kind of in no man's land as far as our team needs and draft value. In recent years the best place to find an OT and a WR outside of the top 10 has been in the first half of the 2nd round. Our two recent picks at those positions at that spot were Zay Jones and Cody Ford who obviously were both huge busts for us. So now we're stuck never having picks in that range again unless we trade down.
  7. When the Bills played the Browns, the Browns had the #6 rated offense by DVOA. Sometimes when you're typing out these long posts you should consider stopping and fact checking the things that you say. It has earned you a reputation on here of being an anti-homer, one that stretches the truth or tells outright lies to minimize the accomplishments of the team.
  8. A lot of people knew right away that Pat Mahomes and Josh Allen would never cut it. Like me! I'll admit my bad takes on both of them. I don't blame the Jets for taking a QB with elite arm talent but rough around the edges. Lately that has been the recipe for success in the draft. If anything I think Wilson's attitude has sunk him more than his talent. He's lost the locker room and he doesn't take accountability for his failures. Ryan Fitzpatrick on the post game show last night had this to say: "Even when Josh Allen wasn't playing well in his rookie season, the guys in that locker room would die for him." So it sounds like the Jets made the same mistake the Cardinals did when they drafted Josh Rosen - they scouted the player but not the person. To be a franchise QB you need both.
  9. You think that's bad? Chris Simms, who I listen to weekly, said that our run defense badly missed Jordan Phillips in this game and he called Jordan Phillips the best run stopper on our DL.
  10. I use Hulu Live in my home and there is about a 30 second delay on broadcasts compared to cable, although I typically watch Bills games elsewhere to avoid that problem. But when I have watched the Thursday night games this year on Amazon there doesn't appear to be any kind of delay. So the delay might not be inherent to streaming, it might just be a Hulu/YouTube thing. Hopefully they get it fixed for the Sunday ticket package because following along with the games on here or on Twitter would not be fun if the stream was behind everyone else.
  11. Bates will be at center and I dont think he's had issues snapping the ball. Van Roten will take over Bates' spot at RG.
  12. So much debate over a play that was thrown for a TD. The all-22 world has gone crazy. I trust Allen in the scheme that he's been personally running for five years now to know what he's doing. That doesn't mean it's always going to be perfect. But if an analyst finds a reason to criticize this play, it's because they're looking for one. I've become so sick of people watching film assuming that they know everyone's individual assignment and the reads the QB is supposed to follow. Kurt Warner is a HOF QB but not in this scheme in this offense with Josh Allen's skill set. If a play ends in a passing TD, unless it was a complete fluke you can say that the QB and the pass catcher did their job correctly. It isn't that complicated.
  13. Almost certainly Bates at center with Van Roten at RG. Van Roten apparently only gave up one pressure in his playing time against the Dolphins and Joe Buscaglia graded him well. We can manage with that OL for a game especially against a weak pass rushing unit.
  14. This is a fantastic article from an unbiased writer. I'm not going to copy and paste it. Go read it.
  15. Not at all, our YAC was terrible last year. Most of the time receivers were catching the ball and then immediately getting tackled. It's a function of the receiving corps we've built. No YAC specialists. I thought Shakir was supposed to be that type but he hasn't been utilized. Same with Cook but despite being fast he gets tackled with very little resistance so that minimizes his ability to break long runs after catches.
  16. Okay, so should Allen literally never look for deep throws? Should he assume before every snap that Spencer Brown will lose his rep and forget about even trying to make explosive plays? Maybe against the Lions instead of waiting in the pocket for Diggs to get open downfield he should have just thrown a check down and conceded overtime? There's no good answers here. In general I think the offense could use more quick pass designs, but you have to hit explosive plays to consistently win football games. If he had another second of protection he probably gets that pass off and who knows if it's completed but it's a chance at an explosive play. I just think it's a little unfair to Allen to criticize him for letting plays develop. It's not like there was a jailbreak on the play, Spencer Brown just got beat.
  17. He has the luxury of taking care of the ball because he doesn't have to be the team's entire offense. Allen and Mahomes don't have the luxury of the best run offense in football, the best OL in football, and two #1 WRs. If they don't put it all on the line every week their teams will lose most games, and yes that leads to turnovers but it also leads to unbelievable plays that are necessary to win the game. Case in point the Texans and Dolphins arguably outplayed the Chiefs and Bills in their respective matches last weekend, the only reason their teams won is because of the QB play. I'll be surprised if the Eagles offense drops off that far with Gardner Minshew but we'll see.
  18. Not at all. He's electric as a runner. As a passer he is still missing a lot of basic throws and reads. Allen was reading defenses much better than Fields was in his sophomore season. Right now he is still making college reads.
  19. He's possibly the most exciting player in the NFL with the ball in his hands, but decidedly less so when the ball leaves his hands.
  20. Why does this post sound like a threat
  21. Allen decides at the snap that Morris with the safety in trail is the right read. He never considered Singletary on the play. Both options may have been acceptable, but Allen chooses the one running into the end zone with the coverage man's back to the QB. He immediately identifies that this leverage gives him a perfect window to hit the throw or at worst get DPI. He rolls to the right because that gives him the best angle to make the throw he's decided to make. I was genuinely shocked to hear Kurt Warner accuse him of bailing the pocket early. He's not bailing the pocket, he's setting up his throw. I agree with others that Kurt Warner does a good job explaining route concepts and how a QB should read things. But there's a million people doing these types of videos right now. That single play was such a bad piece of analysis that I decided it's not worth my time.
  22. Thanks for posting but I only got through 9 minutes before giving up. Kurt Warner clearly doesn't like Allen's style and it colors his evaluation. So on the 1st drive he talks about the miss to McKenzie on 3rd down. He says a throw to Davis at the sticks is the easier throw. But the read to McKenzie is fine, he's open Allen just sails the pass. The play was bad but not for the reason Kurt Warner says. Then on the TD to Morris he criticizes Allen for immediately running out of the pocket. I guess Kurt Warner hasn't watched a lot of Allen film, because Allen runs to the right all the time to set up an easier throw. He isn't bailing the pocket, he immediately sees that Morris is in single man coverage with the safety in trail so he runs to the right to set up a good angle and then throws a dime. That is the kind of throwing platform Allen prefers. This play in particular was unbelievably poor analysis so that was the end of the video for me.
