I won't lie I really wanted Hyatt there. I have no clue why is sliding so far. But Torrence was projected to go a lot higher so at least we didn't make a stupid reach pick.
-
Hahaha the Cowboys REACHED for a TE. We absolutely screwed up their draft.
-
Wait KC is next? Did they trade up?? Crap I think they jumped us for Hyatt 🤢
-
For my money Chicago is having an awful draft. Two big reaches IMO.
-
Yes he was a top 30 visit.
-
Meh Sanders doesn't do it for me. I really want Hyatt at this point. If he gets taken I'm cool with Torrence as a consolation prize.
-
Weird pick for Seattle. They just drafted Kenneth Walker high in the 2nd last year.
-
But then how will Beane jump the Cowboys for the last 1st round grade on his board next year 🤔
-
At this point I'd be calling teams to try and get up there for Hyatt, even if we have to trade a 2024 pick. Kincaid and Hyatt would be my dream draft.
-
Just an awesome story.
-
Yep so Kincaid must have really been sticking out on Beane's board. The combined value we gave up of that possible 3rd and our own 4th is equivalent to the last pick of the 2nd round.
-
Wasn't sure where to put this, I figured this thread was as good as any: So if not for Kincaid slipping, looks like we would have traded down to #41. By the draft value chart that's a 230 point difference, and the Titans 3rd round pick (#72) happens to be worth exactly 230 points. Sounds like Beane passed up on an extra 3rd to take Kincaid so that shows you how much he liked him.

I heard from a credible source that they really liked Addison. I wouldn't be surprised if QJ was someone they had a 1st round grade on because he fits their usual profile. Flowers is limited by his arm length and JSN has a medical flag so I'd be surprised if either of them were 1st round targets. My guess is they looked at their board after QJ was picked by the Chargers and were content with either Addison or Kincaid. Once Addison got picked that's when they probably started calling up to make sure they got Kincaid before they reached a talent cliff on their board.

Kyle Trimble of Banged Up Bills has no concerns: And this was reported a couple weeks ago: The Bills have never taken medical risks in the 1st round under Beane. I'm sure they did their due diligence.

When I say QB friendly I mean in a way where he instinctually knows how to make himself available in coverage gaps. I don't see that from Knox.
-
I think they're different types of athletes. Knox is more straight line explosive and can bulldoze defenders. Kincaid is much more fluid than Knox, his hip fluidity in particular is outstanding which is why he looks so smooth on the field. Knox can't do this: That fluidity also makes him a great safety valve in a way that Knox never has been IMO. He has an uncanny ability to sit in holes in coverage, catch the ball, and then immediately turn and accelerate upfield. That skill set combined with his natural feel for making himself available makes him lethal against zone coverage. This is a part of Knox's game that I don't think ever really developed. He isn't particularly QB friendly. Kincaid is going to be a high target player in this offense IMO and it won't be just because Allen and Dorsey decided to use their TEs more. It's because we added 2020 Cole Beasley back into the offense but 8 inches taller and 60 pounds heavier.
-
I'm seeing a lot of criticism about how Dorsey and Allen didn't use Knox enough last year, so why take Kincaid? But think of him as a big slot WR, not a TE. Beane said it himself - Kincaid will play Beasley's role in the offense but with a TE body and much more field stretching ability. Allen thrived when he had Beasley as his safety valve. I think Kincaid will quickly take on that role. I never thought Knox was a natural fit in that role because he just doesn't have a great feel for how to make himself available. Now we can use Knox as a more traditional TE while Kincaid acts as a matchup nightmare in the middle of the field.

Instincts, athleticism, elite hands, fluidity. What am I missing here?
-
-
Nope. Knox doesn't have this fluidity:

Why are the most annoying people in the world screaming at me from my TV?

I don't understand how anyone could hate this pick. We just got an elite pass catcher to pair with Diggs. Go get Hopkins and dare teams to keep up with us.
