  1. Dodson appears to have taken control of the starting job. Good news.
  2. Come on man... I know it's just a scrimmage but I'm so sick of the same old problem from the same players. Kincaid gets a pass for rookie jitters. The others need to stop letting their QB down.
  3. I actually think RT is the least important spot on the OL for Allen. He has full visibility if a DE is coming at him from that side and as we all know he has a preternatural ability to escape rushers that he sees in time. RT is not really a concern at all IMO. If we need Brandon Shell to step in and be a replacement level player he can do that. I'm more concerned about Dawkins reportedly not looking so good at camp, and then we'll see with McGovern and Bates/Torrence.
  4. A couple more updates:
  5. Updates from Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot today:
  6. Uh oh...
  7. Sounds like Elam and Jackson are both having excellent days today. Good problem to have.
  8. Weird about Spector. He got a chance with the 1s and by all accounts played quite well. Now he is permanently relegated to the 3rd team. It seems like Dodson is the leader in the competition but I worry about him. When Edmunds missed the 2nd half of the Minnesota game, Dodson was his replacement and looked awful IMO. It was a big reason Minnesota was suddenly able to move the ball at will.
  9. A TE has never won OROY. A bet I placed is +1400 for Kincaid to have the most receiving yards out of all rookies. I think that is a reasonably likely outcome given how much we pass and how much Allen has specifically thrown the ball to a good slot WR (Beasley) before.
  10. He had the same problem last year. It's also been a recurring issue at training camp this year and was one of the weaknesses on his scouting report coming out of Boise State. It might just be who he is. I have no patience left for trying to rely on unreliable players. If he had some other elite skill like explosiveness or route running you can live with below average hands, but his skill set overall is just "fine slot WR." Trust me I'm not overreacting to one training camp tweet. All the evidence we have points to the same thing.
  11. Updates from Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot today:
  12. I'm about done with Shakir at this point. You can't have below average physical gifts and below average hands and still be successful in this league. Allen has had too many incredible plays dropped by his pass catchers since he was a rookie. I'm so over it.
  13. Yeah but they could always add him to the active roster permanently if they needed to. Dodson, Bernard, or Spector they might lose to another team. Klein is safe on the PS. So it's less risky to leave him there and bring him up later in the season if it becomes necessary.
  14. Interesting about Dodson.
  15. Dodson is apparently starting with the 1s today which breaks up the MLB rotation. Today would have been Spector's turn. Could mean he's out of the running, or could be random.
  16. They get the same outcome and insurance if they stash Klein on the PS. There is no chance of another team poaching him. If one of Dodson, Bernard, or Spector were cut, we would risk losing them on waivers. In a worst case scenario they could always add Klein to the active roster later in the season. I suspect that is the plan right now.
