That's interesting because the Raiders recently got blown up with requests to trade Hunter Renfrow by one team. That team will go unmentioned but attentive viewers may be able to figure it out

With the 7th selection, the Raiders select Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon. If I was going to come up with a smart sounding reason, I'd say that with Mahomes and Herbert in the division you can never have too many corners. But the real reason is that almost our entire defense is devoid of talent. Gonzalez happens to be the BPA and fills a huge need. Gonzalez has all the traits of an island lockdown #1 corner which the Raiders have desperately needed for years. The Falcons @RyanC883 are on the clock.

I think the two best possible and realistic options for us at pick 27 are Quentin Johnston or Dalton Kincaid. I don't have a preference between them. They both have the physical traits that we covet and would immediately improve their position group. Unfortunately I don't really expect either of these players to be available at pick 27 and I'm not that excited about the other WRs and TEs that could realistically be available at that spot.

Cam Newton open to backing up Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen
HappyDays replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we settled on Kyle Allen because his salary is low enough to help us qualify for a 3rd round comp pick for Edmunds. Anyone else we signed for that salary would be of similar quality. Would I take a slightly better backup at the cost of a 3rd round pick in 2024? Absolutely not. -

Sure, and he had a $1.6 million cap hit. We're tight against the cap as it is. We have to make concessions somewhere. Backup QB is easily the best spot to do that. -

Because it's a needless distraction and there is no chance of us actually signing him. He can't physically play the position anymore. The Bills did exactly what they should have done at backup QB - sign the cheapest guy available that has some experience taking snaps. If Josh goes down our season is over anyways. Bargain shopping for his backup is our best bet. But it has to be someone that can physically play the position, not a reclamation project. -

Come on. This is so meaningless. Cam's throwing shoulder is completely shot. It's sad but his career is over. -
I'll put myself out there and say Jaxon Smith-Njigba will bust, at least relative to his draft spot. A WR with just okay size metrics who missed a year with a lower leg injury... that's a scary combination. I would feel better if it was an ACL tear which is just a freak injury that can happen to anyone, but hamstring injuries tend to follow you throughout your career. If he was explosive I would say bet on the traits. But I just don't get excited enough about his ceiling to think he's worth the risk.

Yeah you can have the Chiefs. @Virgil I will take Raiders, Falcons, or Titans.

Edge rushers still available in free agency
HappyDays replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anyone we sign after the draft doesn't count towards the formula. That's when I'm guessing a lot of these guys will be signed. The one that really intrigues me is Ngakoue but I have no clue what kind of AAV he'll be looking at. This late in the offseason you'd have to assume it will be cheaper than expected. Is there any way we could get him for 1 year $5 million or something like that? That's probably the ceiling of what we can afford. -
So far the Bills haven't signed a single edge rusher in free agency. I can't be the only one that thinks this is still a need, not with Von Miller's timetable being up in the air. There are still a lot of edge rushers available. Full list here: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/edge/available/ A few names that jump out to me: Bud Dupree Leonard Floyd Frank Clark Robert Quinn Yannick Ngakoue Melvin Ingram Justin Houston Carlos Dunlap I'm guessing some of these will be signed after the draft. What should our plan be?

Yeah I don't get excited about Addison at all. 1st round picks should excite you with their traits and their ceiling. I guess with Addison you're hoping in a best case scenario he becomes a slightly slower version of Stefon Diggs? But even Diggs coming out was a 5th round prospect. With Addison I don't see 1st round traits, just a good all around player with little room to grow. Sort of like Robert Woods coming out. I'll take my chances with a higher ceiling/lower floor player in the 1st round. Johnston is a no brainer pick if he somehow falls to 27.

Draft Prospect Interviews with Bills - Post 'em here

My thing with questionable hands is how much production does it actually cost? Let's say for example on 100 targets in a season, a 5% drop rate compared to a 7% drop rate is only 2 extra drops a season. That's not enough for me to give up on a prospect entirely. I guess I worry a little about the body catching but I don't really care about contested catches anyways. If Johnston can run routes and be a nightmare to bring down after the catch that's more than good enough for me. He is also apparently highly competitive and the hardest worker on the team. Catching technique can be taught. That size and speed can't.
-
No, but does that mean we don't try to accumulate talent? Johnston's size and speed is a deadly combo. We don't have anyone with that skill set on the roster.
-
Do you think he could be a Deebo Samuel type for us? Not elite running routes or catching the ball, but a terror with the ball in his hands?

A lot of information is suddenly coming out today. Somebody choosing to leak the information is just as interesting as the information itself.

He mocked the exact top 10 including which team picked which player. I believe his only slip up was having the two Giants picks in the top 10, Thibodeaux and Neal, flip flopped.

I get a similar reaction like this from somebody every single year. I don't know what the deal is with walterfootball.com that so many people have an immediate averse reaction to it, but Charlie Campbell knows his stuff. He isn't just making up crap.
-
I'd be shocked. His skill set is just a plus version of James Cook. For once in Beane's draft history I'd like to see him draft a RB on day three and have them compete with Harris for the last spot.
