A month ago it was! Bernard is turning into a superstar before our eyes. It's a massive development. -

Our blitzes have worked so far. Keep putting the pressure on the young QB. -

I just feel like our route concepts don't go together at all. Just expecting everyone to beat their man, no creativity. -

Brilliant drive from Josh. Singlehandedly carrying us to 3 points. I'm not sure the run game is going to be there today. -

I'm sick of incredible Josh Allen throws that hit the ground. Been so many of them since he was a rookie. -

It was arguably our best offensive play last week. But nobody blocked Young. -
Tua is doing exactly what he's been doing since day one. If his first read is there he'll identify it and deliver the ball accurately. In that sense the Shanahan offense is perfect for him because it's mostly a one read offense. That system combined with all of that speed really just needs a one read QB that can get the ball out on time. It's the same reason San Fran is making it work with Brock Purdy. If you want to stop the offense, take away the first read and take away the middle of the field. Much easier said than done of course.

This is a great breakdown of Cook's game against LV: He points out that our draws to Cook have become our version of RB screens. They're blocked up the same way. And that concept really intrigues me. The problem with our screens in general is defenses always have eyes in the backfield with Allen as the QB so it's hard to disguise screens. But that problem is solved if Cook stays in the pocket and forces back 7 defenders to respect that it could be a normal drop back pass. And then his speed makes it all work. Also in this video are numerous examples of Cook fighting for extra yards through direct head-on contact or effortlessly gliding through contact. And his vision on some of these plays is outstanding. I'm growing more confident that we got the full package in our RB1.

I honestly started this thread just so I could post this unbelievable injury report from the Ravens: For context imagine if James Cook was already out for the year, and we were playing this Sunday's game without Gabe Davis, Dion Dawkins, Mitch Morse, Damien Harris, Micah Hyde, Tre White, and Leonard Floyd. How does this happen to the Ravens every single year?

Looks like everyone is good to go.

Good sign for the players that have been on the injury report this week.

Mahomes can't make that throw, but there are throws he can make that Allen can't. Their arm talent is different from one another. With Allen it's the release and the velocity. With Mahomes it's the precise ball placement from crazy arm angles. They're both doing things I have never seen before.

Don't be stupid. Obviously this is because of the curse of Nate Peterman. -
So I think there's two conversations here. Cook is not the type to take on a defensive player head on and power through the tackle. In that scenario he usually goes down on first contact. But because of his speed and smooth cutting he often times puts defenders in situations where they're just getting a hand or an arm on him and he's gliding right through those tackle attempts. The thing is defenses are giving us a ton of space to work with up front because they're so focused on stopping our pass game. So Cook's skill set in that chess match is a lot more valuable than a hard-nosed downhill thumper. We don't need someone that can power through a loaded box, we need someone that can take full advantage of that free space. FWIW I've been saying this for years. Cook is perfect for our offense.
