  1. It was a bizarre game because he was an efficient passer, but the 4 mistakes he made were massive. Also the hits on the run and sacks he took won't show up on his stats but some of those were on him. It wasn't as bad as the reaction makes it out to be but all of those mistakes wipe out everything else.
  2. Yeah there's a difference between a play caller and a coach. Like I criticized Daboll's play calling as much as anyone but he had a great relationship with Allen. Not a buddy buddy kind of relationship, a true coach/student relationship. The best two games Allen ever played were the last two games that Daboll was his coach. With Dorsey it has gone the opposite direction - a great first month and after that Allen suddenly started making rookie mistakes and has never gotten fully back on track. Might be time to wonder if Dorsey is the right coach to rein him in.
  3. Everybody is correct that Allen is much more to blame than Dorsey for last night's performance. But, for argument's sake let's say we see more abysmal performances like last night. We simply can't move on from Josh Allen. So the only alternative is move on from Dorsey and bring on a hard a** OC that can hopefully scream some sense into Allen. Dorsey isn't some offensive savant. If he can't get through to Allen we shouldn't lose any sleep if we have to move on from him. This is more a conversation for the end of the year, but if things continue heading in a poor direction then I agree Dorsey will have to be the sacrificial lamb.
  4. I believe it was a high/low concept where Allen was reading the CB. The CB cheated towards Kincaid so he threw it over him to Davis. It was a quick read and throw. The problem is Davis ran a really lazy route which gave Whitehead an easy read on the ball, and Allen didn't give enough respect to Whitehead's ability to get back into the play. But I can live with that interception. The much bigger concern is when Allen is running into pressure, escaping clean pockets, not throwing the ball to open receivers in his field of vision, and launching the ball downfield into double coverage multiple times in one game. All of those mistakes are a signal that he was not playing with any level of calm. He was too hyped up and puked all over himself as a result. It's honestly embarrassing. He has all the physical tools a QB could want but he and the coaches need to find a way to get him in the right state of mind from the start of the game to the end. It's like he is starting every play thinking about his escape route instead of thinking about the play and the defense, which leads to numerous mental mistakes.
  5. That is actually the one turnover he had that I am okay with... I think he was reading high to low and the CB cheated towards Kincaid so he threw the high read to Davis. If Davis had made Whitehead hesitate for even a half second he would have been open. I have seen Allen complete that exact read to Davis a dozen times. Unfortunately Whitehead had an easy read because of the route running and he made a good play on the ball. The other two interceptions were careless and lazy heaves into double coverage. I will live with tight window throws that become interceptions. The random forced throws into double coverage is what Allen needs to clean up. On the fumble his head was out of the game at that point. He let a couple series of bad plays snowball into one more giant mistake. They need to get a coach on the sidelines that is specifically talking to Allen after every failed drive. Last night he's sitting alone with Diggs in his face trying to snap him out of his funk. That is not a recipe conducive to getting his head back in the game.
  6. It didn't look to me like he was drinking from a firehose. He looked very comfortable out there. If Dorsey came into the game thinking he needs to bring Kincaid along slowly, he needs to lose that mindset now. The AFC is a gauntlet with little margin for error. No ramp up process. If he's ready he's ready.
  7. Ultimately it's on Allen to read the defense and deliver the ball to the open player. I'm hoping he will see Kincaid sticking out like a sore thumb all over the tape this week and will make it a point to get him involved more in future weeks. Instead of lazily heaving the ball downfield info cover 2 shells. Going back to 12 personnel helping the run game, that philosophy doesn't work unless you get the opposing LBs off the field for a slot CB. How do you get the LBs off the field? Punish them with throws to Kincaid over and over and over again until they have no choice. My bad, I read your comment as talking about Kincaid.
  8. They do but I didn't see him getting bumped off his routes at all (again, with the caveat that this is based on live broadcast footage). Many times I saw him sitting open and already leveraging his body to maximize YAC if the ball came his way. But most of the time it didn't. I know in the NFL coverage can be deceptive so I'll see what others think after watching the All-22. If what I saw is correct, I'm frustrated that we drafted a chain mover / stay on schedule pass catcher in the 1st round and refused to utilize him consistently in a game that was all about moving the chains and staying on schedule. Allen supposedly told Beane he would love Kincaid to be our pick and was elated that we drafted him. So why isn't he looking his way? Why are we forcing balls downfield into an elite secondary when Kincaid is sitting there with leverage against a less than elite LB tandem?
  9. I don't have official percentages but it felt like we were in 12 personnel more often than not. And it would have worked if Allen and Dorsey had used it properly. With the caveat that I'm going off of live broadcast footage I swear I saw Kincaid open a ton, often times in space with room to run. Allen for whatever reason wasn't looking at him. My hope is that they will see this on tape and make it a point to get him involved. As far as our run game, I have mixed feelings on Cook. When he has space and a chance to accelerate he looks great, very smooth and glides through the defense. But his initial burst is not quite what I hoped when we drafted him and he goes down on first contact almost every time. If he catches the ball short of the sticks with a defender approaching him it's a lost down every time. So I don't think he is going to be someone we can rely on to create plays, but he will maximize the plays that are there at least.
  10. Kincaid was way under utilized tonight. All of those swing passes we are throwing to Harty and Cook, get them to Kincaid instead. Dorsey had the right idea against the Jets defense but used the wrong players. I would honestly right now make Kincaid the #2 target over Davis. It would encourage Allen to throw the ball short and not force throws downfield.
  11. I do remember that, he was in a funk against Pittsburgh and Miami then pulled himself out of it before finishing the season as a god I'll hold onto this as my one glimmer of optimism for the rest of the season. Although he looked worse tonight than he has in any game since 2019 IMO. Kind of pulled it together at the end but it was too late.
  12. This is the only reasonable hint of optimism. Maybe it was just a week 1 stinker. I certainly want to believe that.
  13. I thought I saw Kincaid flash open a bunch of times but Allen never looked at him. I just don't get it.
  14. The defense will be fine, better than fine even. On offense we don't have a true #2 WR and Allen looks completely lost. Can he pull it together? This is the first moment of doubt I've had since 2019. I wish I could even say it was just a repeat of last year's away Jets game but it was much worse. He has to stop making one bad decision turn into four bad decisions.
  15. That was the grossest Bills game in the McDermott/Allen era. Worse even than the Jags debacle IMO.
  16. I can't imagine a single person in the country is enjoying this game right now. Bills fans, Jets fans, NFL fans, everybody hates this.
  17. No lie I'll give him a game ball if we pull this out.
  18. I feel like Kincaid is constantly open. I hope we use him more the rest of the year.
  19. I wasn't a huge fan of our offensive gameplan tonight but he isn't the one making bad reads and losing focus. I have never seen Allen look this clueless. At this point I am just hoping he snaps out of it before the season goes down the toilet.
  20. It doesn't make sense. How does Allen deliver this performance? It's the worst game he's ever played. I don't know what they need to do to fix it but something has to change.

  22. Josh has to dig us out of the hole he created.
  23. Allen Mahomes Those are the only QBs I've ever watched that make that throw.
