What makes you think he wasn't prepared? I just think Dorsey has him in his own head with this system. Everything is too disjointed. Allen doesn't start running until it's too late. There are very few schemed up one-read throws like you see in pretty much every other offense. Our protection schemes get beaten frequently. WRs end up tripping over each other because their routes are next to each other. I described the play calling in the game thread as Dorsey reaching into a bag and randomly pulling out a play call, that's what it feels like to me. That's a lot of jumbled up thoughts, that was a long game and I'm tired. But im general I'm not remotely satisfied with Dorsey's overall management of the offense. His offense feels like it's run by A.I. He understands what play calls beat what coverages and progression design, etc., but he has no innate feel for the game.

Josh knows what's up: The game plan was to go away from what worked last week. It blows my mind.

The sad part is that DeAndre Hopkins was available and wanted to be here. Beane could have made it work but he failed to push in his chips. So with Davis's semi-regular vanishing act, now we're stuck relying on a rookie to be our #2, and we saw tonight rookie mistakes can be forced by a veteran well coached defense. I like Beane overall but failing to even try and upgrade Davis for two straight offseasons now is a fireable offense IMO.

What can McDermott and Dorsey say they are better than 95% of other coaches? What is their specialty? What advantage do we gain over other teams with their presence? I'm going to bet that everyone reading this post will come up empty with any kind of answer. I know the two of them are fine coaches. But they are not Super Bowl caliber.

Now comes the part where fans try to blame the players. The common denominator is one man.
-
McDermott made the exact same mistake he made against the Patriots on their final drive. He doesn't learn. He preaches growth mindset and accountability, but he doesn't show it.
-
And he all out blitzes!! In a critical play where all we want to do is stop the clock, he leaves his CBs on an island! So sick of this garbage.
-
That lost TO is unbelievable. It could change the game. Like it's legitimately shocking that McDermott would throw that away on an almost meaningless play.
-
This team takes on the persona of its coach - clueless situationally.
-
Are you for real Sean?? Do he and Dorsey not know how much time is on the clock?? Please Pegula, make the move! Give them until the end of the season, no reason not to, but then you have to try something else in the back half of Josh's career.

I get it. It's hard to feel optimistic with this coaching staff.
-
My only positive takeaway is that the offense found some kind of good momentum before Kincaid fumbled. Allen being willing to run when he feels like it is the key. It opens up the entire offense.
-
For sure. You live with rookie mistakes especially with all the potential he's been showing. The other guys involved in this loss, what's their excuse?

Dorsey has no cohesiveness. He is reaching into a bag and pulling out plays at random.
-
Dorsey does not match up with some of the great DCs in our conference. He has no answer to get the offense in rhythm. We will never get past the other coaching staffs in the AFC until we make a change.
-
Lol that's the same route he got picked on earlier
-
Last week was a mirage. The Bucs played crazy off coverage which allowed a weak route runner like Davis to immediately flash open. He is the same player he always has been.
-
I am so sick of these ****ing option routes. Take them out of the playbook. When they are not on the same page it becomes a dangerous pass with a high turnover potential.
-
It is just crazy how often Allen and Davis are not on the same page.

Dane Jackson is having the game of his life
-
This is the first time in a long time the defense has bailed out Josh. Let's get back to that first drive. Quick passes, get the best pass catchers involved.
-
He has had multiple interceptions on that exact play this year. For some reason he is not reading the CB in conflict correctly. I would just take it out of the playbook, the risk/reward isn't there.

We didn't blitz!! It took 9 quarters but McDermott figured it out
