Week 1, Bills v. Jets - Predict the Score
HappyDays replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills 30 Jets 24 I think when you weigh all of the coaches and players on each team you come out pretty even. I probably trust the Jets roster a bit more than I trust ours, but I trust our coaches over theirs. All in all it's a wash. I predicted the Chiefs would beat the Lions. Even though that prediction turned out wrong, I'm going to use the same logic to predict the Bills win. When all else fails I bet on the team that has experience fighting through critical moments. I expect us to make a couple fewer mistakes over the course of the game. Allen will make a couple more plays than Rodgers because he has more familiarity with his guys. It will take Rodgers some time to get fully up to speed, just like it did with Stafford and Brady when they went to new teams. All of those small moments that we win because of our experience will add up over the course of the game. 10-10 at halftime and then we slowly pull away. 30-17 with five minutes left and the Jets score a TD to make it interesting but they never see the ball again. -
Is it time to start asking questions about Brett Veach's ability to evaluate offensive skill players? He hasn't hit on a single pick yet. 1st rounder spent on CEH - Bust 3rd rounder spent on Toney - Never healthy and singlehandedly cost them a game 2nd rounder spent on Skyy Moore - Trending towards bust 2nd rounder spent on Mecole Hardman - Probably the best of the bunch but did not live up to the value of his draft pick Some of the players they passed on in favor of the above players: Mecole Hardman: -DK Metcalf -Diontae Johnson -Terry McLaurin CEH: -Tee Higgins -Jonathan Taylor Skyy Moore: -George Pickens Us picking Kaiir Elam over Christian Watson was almost certainly a mistake. What about the Chiefs taking George Karlaftis over him? Doesn't that look equally stupid in light of their glaring WR issue and Karlaftis looking pretty mediocre? I still contend that drafting has not been the difference between us and them.

I saw that, and Romeo Doubs is questionable. Not a good start for Jordan Love's career, and in a divisional road game.

Dalton Kincaid plays in his first game Monday
HappyDays replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
What makes Kelce really special is that he reads the defense like a QB. Last night when he wasn't on the field you felt the impact. One of the Chiefs first drives Mahomes stared down Noah Gray and threw it at him, he hesitated a bit and the ball was off target and fell incomplete. I guarantee Mahomes is used to Kelce being exactly where he expects and that would have been a completion 10 times out of 10 if he was in the game. Another play later in the game he again stares down Gray who appears to be open but took off running instead. Again, he didn't trust that they were on the same page. He and Kelce have almost a telepathic link. It's that part of the game that makes me really excited about Kincaid's game, moreso even than the hands and the fluidity. He seemingly has natural instincts to find gaps in the defense and make himself available to the QB. If he can develop that same rapport with Allen the sky is the limit. His athleticism sets a high floor, his cerebral abilities will ultimately set his ceiling. -
Big news out of Miami:

I'm interested to see how Kincaid responds to physical defense. DCs will tell his man in coverage "get your hands on him." It's the one big test we haven't seen from him yet. If he can fight his way through physical coverage and jams at the line he'll be unstoppable. -
I feel like I'm losing my mind. "How is Mahomes supposed to win with bad tackle play and WRs that drop a lot of passes??" How about that!
-
JuJu Smith-Schuster isn't a mediocre WR. He has been a solid #2 for his entire career when healthy. He had 1,400 receiving yards in 2018. His issue is he had a couple seasons derailed by injuries. He is a lot better and more efficient than the options the Chiefs have pegged to replace him.

I was just thinking how Toney's performance tonight was about equal to McKenzie's performance against the Chiefs last year, the only difference is one of Toney's drops happened to pop into the hands of a DB and become a defensive TD.
-
This is true. I've read on here that highly paid QBs have to elevate their mediocre weapons. Mahomes didn't do that tonight. Of course all of this will be moot when he has his cheat code back on the field for the rest of the season. I'll take the one free additional loss though. One more Chiefs loss would have meant we were the #1 seed last year.

You'll fit right in

The Chiefs loss is great, even greater is watching stupid narratives get blown up in spectacular fashion.

The Chiefs supporting cast has been abysmal tonight. And it is still better than what the Bills fielded in 2018. Think about that.
-
@beebe The Chiefs will be just fine without Kelce. Right?
-
They finally got him for one!!!
-
Wow. Toney has been the worst player on the field.
-
That is a disgusting drive. Campbell flinched.
-
That is gutless playcalling. Come on man.
-
Uh no, that is only a penalty if the ball is snapped. Mahomes didn't take advantage.
-
Even the great play callers outsmart themselves. 3rd and short and you take the ball out of your superstar QB's hands. I will never understand it.
-
Hmm I would take the penalty there. 1st and 5 better than 2nd and 2.

It's not easy to call plays with noodle armed Goff and zero downfield WRs. But you'd like to see some more urgency from this offense.
