  1. 36 years old, not sure how much juice he has left. Obviously they must have concerns at the position.
  2. Not sure if I buy this but maybe we shouldn't read too much into MVS getting all 2nd team reps?
  3. Benford in general has seemingly not had a good camp, a lot of the offense's best plays are coming at his expense. I think the door is open for Elam to steal his job.
  4. MVS is trending towards being cut. From Joe B's article today:
  5. Updates from Matt Parrino:
  6. Hamler has gotten occasional 1st team reps and is a candidate for the kick return job. Based on what's been reported this week he is more likely to make it than MVS. Shorter hasn't done anything and Claypool has gotten occasional 1st team reps but hasn't gotten any kind of buzz. I would probably put Shavers and Hamler as WR5 and WR6 right now, but still very early.
  7. Joe Marino reporting that MVS once again took no 1st team reps today. Second day in a row of this... It's officially time to have him on the roster bubble.
  8. I didn't like the pick to begin with (because of positional value) but no way we should be worried about any player one week into their first ever training camp. At the very least he apparently isn't standing out in a bad way. A 2nd round player getting rotated between the 1s and 2s is exactly where he should be at IMO. Honestly my biggest concern at safety is that Rapp is apparently locked in as one of the starters, getting all 1st team reps so far, and I wish he had some legit competition.
  9. Sounds like Bishop and Hamlin have alternated with the 1st team today.
  10. I'm starting to wonder. Joe Marino said MVS took zero snaps with the 1s yesterday, while Claypool, Shavers, Hamler all got a couple. And MVS doesn't play any special teams like those three do. I could see the last two spots going to Shavers and Hamler based on what we've heard about them so far.
  11. It just goes to show the metric is basically useless IMO. Receivers inline or in the slot are going to have an inherent advantage, defensive coverage affects it, offensive scheme, etc. It's too context driven to draw any meaningful conclusions. Anyways pure yards of separation is somewhat overrated IMO. A pass catcher's job on a play is to create leverage that gives the QB a throwing window. There is no way to measure that on a computer chip like NextGen tries to do.
  12. One other note which explains why he thinks MVS has an uphill battle - apparently Claypool, Hamler, and Shavers all took 1st team reps today, but MVS tool none. That's something to monitor.
  13. Joe Marino was at camp today. Here are his notes:
