Offensive Line - Any Chance it Holds Up?
richardb1952 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Groy is a FA after this year, played well when given the opportunity and has a full off-season to prepare as a regular starter. I believe Miller will rebound this year with a different scheme. Mills is Mills. Maybe he can improve this year. Dawkins hopefully can improve off an impressive rookie season. Replacing Incognito will be tough as he brought some nastiness to the group and was pretty good pulling. I think this line can be mediocre at least, it will just take time for them to jell as a unit. Screen passes, Play action, and receivers getting separation would really be help this unit be respectable. Lets hope coaching and scheme can improve a general lack of talent. -
2019 Cap Space- Where We Stand Today
richardb1952 replied to Midwest1981's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Bills' 2018 and 2019 draft are close to being as good as the 2017 draft class appears to be, they might not have a lot of holes to be filled. Vet WR, LB, OL. -
Rewatching his highlights, he appears to have very good hands, fights to make the contestable catch, and finds a way to get open. He looks more like a TE on the field. He had a real good preseason game against the Ravens last year except for the game ending fumble at the end. Did not see much of the high end speed but that might have been the Nebraska QBs tendency to under throw the longer ball. I like the kid and think he and Streeter have a real good chance of making this roster and that both could be pleasant surprises this year. I also don't see anything special with Holmes who seems to be a somewhat expensive ST player. It will be interesting to see if they give Rielly and Streeter opportunities on ST this preseason. Versatility is a must for WR 4, 5, 6.

One thing I noticed in watching a small amount of film on Josh Allen is his tendency to attempt passes further downfield when shorter range targets are available and more open. This is something TT very seldom did. I also noticed he is not afraid to throw in pretty tight windows, something else TT seldom tried. I believe these two factors contribute to a small but significant contribution to his less than 60% completion rate. What I do like about Allen is the mindset to "make something happen" on every play, though there are times he would be better served to just throw it away or take the shallow crossing route.

Are we expecting a spending spree next year?
richardb1952 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even though I like all three of them, I believe that after this year it might be difficult to justify their salaries. 18 million in extra cap dollars, and the 2019 draft might make them expendable. -

It's also very possible that Clay, McCoy, and Hughes are let go or restructured after this season since their 2019 salaries total about 28 million and their dead cap total is only about 10 million. It will make for some interesting decisions next year. -
Question about seat views
richardb1952 replied to NEBuffaloBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My son and I went to our first Bills game last year (Broncos). Had second level seating. Great seats at about 40 yard line. Even better as it worked out was that the upper level of the stadium gave us shade for the whole game. The sun was brutal that day. So fortunate to not be in it. Great game, great experience. -
It tends to become more bitter once the season starts.

2018 Schedule Review Games 1-4
richardb1952 replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills might be fortunate to start out 2-2. There is a lot of turnover on OL, QB and a new offense. Defense should be good, but if offense can't consistently move the chains, there is he distinct possibility that the defense will be on the field a lot. Bills were fortunate to get a lot of turnovers last year to start the season. Hopefully, that trend continues and defense can keep game close. -
??Poyer/Hyde both top 5 coverage grade for S ??
richardb1952 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would expect to see more improvement from Shaq and hopefully Washington. It appears to be a pretty good 8 man rotation and having Phillips rotating with kyle should keep kyle fresh. Second year in this system should also benefit everyone on the line. Could use another slot safety/ CB and depth at safety/ CB appears to be thin at this time. If the offense can be more effective in keeping the chains moving and scoring, this defense should be very good, better overall than 2017 edition. Hopefully a more rounded defense against run/ pass while still forcing some big turnovers. -
Jordan Mills second team All-Pro?
richardb1952 replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought they meant "second team pro" as in a pro RT that is not good enough to normally be a starter. However, he is not as horrible as he was the year before, so that's a plus. Maybe he can develop into a decent RT with deficiencies an OC will have to game plan around. Not every position on a team is a future All Pro. Sometimes you have to settle for 2nd team All Pro. -
Cover1 - Tremaine Edmunds post draft video
richardb1952 replied to MtlBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So much speed. Great tackler. Bills were very lucky to get this guy plus a QB. Bills took a big chance when they didn't re-sign Brown, but I understood it as they didn't want to commit a lot of money on a 3 - 5 year contract when he didn't represent what they were really looking for. Ending up with Edmunds is just unbelievable. Could be in running for DROY. -
Which position shall we add next in Free Agency
richardb1952 replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OL is definitely a big question mark, but at least they will have a whole training camp to sort things out. They appear to have good depth. Bills could use a real speed guy but I have confidence in Benjamin and Jones as starters. Looks like Bills will have adequate slot receivers available. I also look forward to what Streeter might be able to bring to the team. LB is a definite need. Bills barely have three starters and no real depth. At this time the Bills are placing a lot of trust on the rookie Edmunds and Milano. -
Harrison Phillips will be a BEAST!
richardb1952 replied to HoserE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is relentless. What struck me most about him is his ability to move his man backwards. He is seldom moved backwards himself, unless he is being double teamed. Some say he would not be on the field on passing downs but I believe he has demonstrated the ability to bring pressure up the middle and would need to be accounted for. I think he is a great pick and will get significant playing time right out of the gate. -
Matt Waldman's film study of Josh Allen
richardb1952 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel some of this "lack of wisdom" on the part of Allen is based on a lack of experience. If he can learn from his mistakes, he has a chance to be very good. If he is not able to gain the necessary wisdom to further his mental processing skills, the Bills will be looking for a new QB in 3 years. He definitely has some great tools to work with though. I hope the Bills have a plan to give him the greatest opportunity for success. GO BILLS> -

We will never know since Joe and his Package are no longer on the team. -
RD 6, 187 Ray-Ray McCloud - WR Clemson

Maybe they will give Ray Ray the ball and have Josh Allen throw him down the field. -
RD 6, 187 Ray-Ray McCloud - WR Clemson
richardb1952 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He looks to be very versatile. He will be given every opportunity to contribute to the team. Obviously, the Bills see something in him and felt he was more valuable than any of the other remaining WRs on the board. -
What would you like to do with #96?
richardb1952 replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take the HOF guy that's still there. Don't know who he is or what position he plays, but would love to have him on the Bills. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - "Sling It and Bring It"
richardb1952 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has been a nice thread/ topic with great insight. Bills have the foundation to build around now in QB and LB. I'm more optimistic than some. Still think Bills lack some serious depth, but maybe they can find some more diamonds in the rough. -
I fully support Josh Allen as the Bills future franchise QB until that day he proves himself to be otherwise. I did the same for EJ and the same for TT.
