  1. New OC, New scheme, lack of WR availability, QB that doesn't quite fit the new scheme, Line challenges with Glenn out most of year. I think he deserves another year, but in the end McDermott will decide if this is what he wants for the long term. With all the coaching changes that will be going n across the league, this might be a good year to hold on to what they have and strive to improve the system already in place. It will be more interesting whether they decide to keep TT for another year or look to replace him with a FA that is more a fit for this kind of scheme.
  2. Are any of them worth (3) # 1's and maybe a 2?
  3. A 4:30 game means the Bills season is guaranteed to last a little bit longer. Does this mean the drought is over?
  4. Depends on the "guaranteed big money" but even at 60 million, most of that will be gone in two years that is not bonus money. Losing (3) 1's, a 2 and a later round pick would be harder to recover from. At least if the UFA QB is a bust you can start looking for his replacement the next year. Giving up all that for a draft pick means you are "all in" for at least 3 - 4 years. Even though Bills only used a first round pick for E.J., they were still committed to him for too long. I'd always be tempted to go with a proven vet in this case as long as the vet has the probability to be productive for the next 4 - 5 years.
  5. It's unfortunate that some of Bills best FA roster players can't stay healthy, Gaines, Mathews, Henderson, Cadet, Holmes, while the less desirable Roster 2018 FAs are pretty much always available. Not necessarily saying Henderson and Holmes are that good, but if they were available more, they might be able to show better. Hope they bring Thompson back too. He came through when called on and did so in some pretty critical junctures of games.
  6. It all depends on how much Gaines and Mathews are looking for contract wise. Gaines will be coveted by zone coverage teams and those teams will have to evaluate contract to injury concerns, just as Bills will need to do. I believe there will be more competition for Gaines than for Mathews. Jones, Benjamin, Thompson (UFA), and a FA speedster next year would be a good WR group. Then there is Wright, Henderson, Cadet, Thornton, Johnson and Brown that will be FA. The FO will need to evaluate their skill set to what the FO sees as the future vision of the team to a monetary value compared to what they will target in FA and the Draft. I believe Kyle will be gone, which is too bad.
  7. Why does he touch the ground each time just before the snap? No wonder the defense is in the backfield on every snap.
  8. But his reference is Alten. People assume he meant Allen, but only after it happens.
  9. It would be nice if Bills had a decent set of WRs that weren't constantly injured. Still, TT doesn't appear to be able to get much out of his WRs so how good do they have to be.
  10. I doubt Allen will be there in the second round, and maybe before Bills first pick in first. A lot of QB needy teams. Would Bills take a veteran FA QB and a QB in the first round of the draft?
  11. I would rather take A. Smith who QBs an offense very similar to Bills. Bills will draft a QB but I believe the top 2 will be gone before Bills can move into 3rd position. If that is the case, the Bills will have to decide if another QB (like Jackson or Allen) are worth moving up for because there are a lot of QB needy teams ahead of the Bills. Are either of those two, or someone else for that matter, worth moving up to the third position for. I don't see it happening. I don't see the value there to move up. If they don't move up I believe the top 4 or five rated QBs will be off the board by the time Bills will be picking in late teens or early twenties. Whether third pick or later, I don't see a QB after Rosen/ Darnold that can come in as a day 1 starter. Agree with "Real McCoy" above.
  12. Giants currently have the # 2 spot. If Rosen and Darnold are both not available, I don't believe Bills would be interested enough to move up for any of the remaining QBs. I'm sure the Bills will take a QB, but it all depends on who they might be able to get as a FA as to when they see the value in the draft. I still think Smith is a good fit as KC and Bills offenses are very similar. Will be an interesting off season
  13. Agree. Get a veteran and let Thorson (5th Round) and Peterman vie for backup. (Edit - Thorson said he will stay in school)
  14. 0.1% chance for Buffalo to win the Super Bowl. So there is a chance!!
  15. Alex Smith has over 3700 yds passing, 340 yds rushing, 25 TDs, 5 INTs, with a 68% completion Percentage in 14 games. If the fan base liked Kyle Orton, they'd love Alex Smith. Plus, KC offense is almost the same as the Bills, except they have better playmakers at WR.
  16. I mentioned Alex Smith because of the draft pick cost to move up to three. If Bills do move up to draft a QB, they might feel the need to keep TT for another year. Letting TT go, picking up Alex Smith and using their draft picks on filling the roster with some day 1 starters might be enough to make the Bills contenders next year and down the road. Keep Peterman as a good backup, use FA to fill in some other holes has to be tempting to the FO. I would guess Alex Smith could be in play if the FO does not see their franchise QB at the third draft spot.
  17. Indianapolis or Cleveland (via Houston) will probably have the 3rd pick. Neither will be interested in a QB since Browns will have taken one with first. If there is a QB that the FO sees as a franchise QB still available at three, Bills are in position to move up to get him. Both teams would love the 2 firsts and other draft picks required by Bills to move up in position for #3. Don't go by where anyone has a QB ranked in the draft. Jets, Cards, Bengals, Broncos and maybe the Chargers may all need QBs. Some of them will be interested in moving up to get the guy they want. The third spot is the key. Even if 2 QBs are already taken, if the QB the Bills want is there, they need to go after him at that spot. I would not be surprised if the Bills trade for Alex Smith. KC has cap problems and Smith would be good for 4 - 5 years. Good fit for Dennison. Then use all those draft picks to fill in roster as well as using FA. Whatever happens, the 2018 Bills will look vastly different.
  18. I was under the impression that had Buffalo beat Miami and Jets last year a lot of other things would need to happen for Bills to make playoffs. Everything, in fact, did fall into place and the Bills would would have been in the playoffs. It became a mute point since Bills lost to Miami and then to the Jets and, by that time, no one was paying attention.
  19. I don't care who we get or how we get him as long as the FO does its due diligence and the Bills end up with a QB that they can build around and win with.
  20. So, all this might not be true?
  21. Shaw66; Any comment on the punt on 4th and 1 in OT? I personally thought it was the wrong call at the time, but I could see where coach was coming from. Poor conditions, 3rd string QB, Punt and play defense for 3 and out/ turnover.
  22. Bills need someone other than Webb as Starting QB and need Benjamin for a full game to beat Miami this week. I believe Bills will be fairly healthy otherwise. One game at a time.
  23. I would have went for it but I disagree that punting was a gutless call. It takes guts to punt when everyone in the stadium(except the Colts) want you to go for it. (shades of Rex Ryan). I thought it was lost on the Webb interception. Lets hope Peterman can play next week because Webb is a special teamer that can fill in as a QB when absolutely necessary but the odds are he is not going to beat Miami.
