  1. I would venture a guess that you have better chances of winning the lottery.
  2. Yeah, but... Hitting on a QB is the best way to keep your job. If he gets a good one, they will give him a long time to put a roster around the QB. Then even when your team doesn't look great, you are a threat every year to make real noise. Look at NO or LAC, Rivers and Brees have had some terrible rosters around them, and to be fair have had bad seasons, but they can be a powerhouse out of nowhere if they catch a spark. We need to stop measuring things by NE. They have the best coach of all time, a long tenure system-fit QB, get players for a discount, get ref help, and have obviously gotten caught cheating multiple times. The truth is, we would be in a great position with a guy like Rivers. As nice as it would be, we can't snub our noses at something because it falls short of one of the most successful situations of all time.
  3. I agree with this. It is absolutely the right thing to do, it just must be awfully stressful when your job is on the line. He hits, and we could see McD and Beane be a fixture at OBD, but if not it will likely spell the end for him. High stakes.
  4. Jason Peters played in the 90's? That would be one heck of a long career.
  5. I have been paying attention to all the Rudolph hype lately, and I must adm8t to being sucked in. I was fully on board with taking him at 12 thinking we couod keep all of our picks... Then I read the analysis from before prodays and the combine. Now I don't want him in the first at all. I am EXTREMELY leery of guys who get moved up the draft board significantly long after they play their last game. Tape should drive draft position, not hype from the talking heads. Sure, he could end up being the best of the bunch, and I'm still "ok" with him later on, but I see warning flags based on his clausen-esque post combine rise.
  6. That's a hell of alot of good information. I wonder where Darnold and Allen fall on this "scale". I surely don't envy Beane and co. They have to pick one of these guys and hope/surmise he is the right one (or one of the right ones). I like my position better. I get to take ownership and talk smack to opposing fans if he works out, but also get to slam Beane if they take the wrong one and he busts.
  7. So, it's another "wait till next year for a qb" thread. Been seeing these for more than a decade now, and we keep waiting for the next draft, that elusive draft full of can't-miss future HOFer's. I got news for you -that draft ain't comin'-. This is the best QB draft in the recent past, and it's time to step up to the plate and swing for the fences. Enough waiting until next year. Top QBs last for 10+ years. Just find one.
  8. -That moment when you completely misunderstand something and go bonkers for no reason- Pulled this from dictionary.com, thought you might be interested: sar·casm ˈsärˌkazəm/ noun the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. ----------- On topic: I don't have a problem with how much we pay Star (though it is high), my problem is how long the contract is.
  9. Somebody needs to make a "Dumb Threads" thread that mods can just move this stuff to. It's like half of the first page these days. Come on draft: put us out of our pre-draft misery.
  10. Just like you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch, you should also not assume them dead. Let it play out. I'm sure you (collectively) will have no problem finding something to complain about, and I'm not excluding myself.
  11. That's alright, won't be long before they cheat on her and she sends them a-packin'
  12. There is no chance the Pats block us from a QB. Yes they have 2 1st's and 2nd's but they are nowhere near as good aw our picks, and quite frankly any future picks involved have MUCH more value from us. If Beane wants a guy (or a pick), he has the ammo to beat any Pats offers. Would not surprise me if they want to create a bidding war -or the illusion of one- to cost us more capital. If NE trades up for a QB, it will be after we already picked one.
  13. Yay. I love causing turmoil in phish-land. And then they just mal-functioned week 17 and threw out any chance of playing spoiler by pretending it was Madden and putting in the aptly named "Fales"... Lol
  14. This is great news. A very under the radar pickup that could really be an impact player if he is anywhere near where he used to be. I hope he can stay healthy and be our CB#2. We were significantly worse when Gaines was out last year, so hopefully Davis "fits the bill".
  15. Ugh... 3 more weeks. Just get it over with so we can stop arguing about who we should draft, and start arguing about who we should have drafted, and which of our draft picks suck or will be HOFers based on OTA practices and his reaction when they call his name.
  16. I would trade both of them for a party size bag of cool ranch doritos. An almost retired cheapshot artist from the cheats or a diva, dbag, coke-nosed me-firster..... No thanks
  17. Actually I'm thinking 2. I believe the NYG QB interest is just to drive up the trade price, and they are waiting for competing ofters to leverage against us.
  18. You are right. It takes two to tango. But everything has a price.
  19. Screw all the other needs. If they have to overpay and make a Ricky Williams trade so be it. You can't hit a home run if you don't swing. If the QB works out nobody will care how much we gave up because he will be a 10 year starter. If the QB doesn't work out, at least Beane let his balls hang out and swung for the fences.
  20. I would argue that if the QB works out, it's a solution at the position for a decade. Then you spend the next couple offseasons surrounding him, and get that ever-elusive SB window before he gets the big money after his rookie deal.
  21. Saw that article early this morning... Of course it's fake. Either that or the draft is 8 rounds now...
  22. Yes I think you are right about week 10, but he said he wouldn't "step on the field" without a new deal. That would be 6 weeks of doing what he said he wouldn't That doesn't mean I believe he won't do it, as I don't trust anything he says, or just about any other player for that matter. I still don't think that gives him leverage. He's not worth what he wants, and just because somebody will pay him that doesn't mean it should be the Giants. Personally, you give an ultimatum, and you have exactly ZERO chance of getting what you want. Giants should not negotiate with terrorists. He entered a contract, and instead of being an entitled douchebag he should just live up to the document he signed. I wouldn't sign him anyway. Some people are just not mature enough to make decent decisions. I believe he fits that category.
  23. I hate that they pushed the draft back to April. People enjoy cat videos?
