  1. There it is. Uk has rock, US has country. It's a tie. UK vintage vinyl is much better though. They had the edge on pressing good records. Also, since the most popular vinyl at the time was british, many of the American pressings of bands like Black Sabbath, Zep, Floyd, amd many others were actually recorded on whatever (casette, reel tape, or an actual record itself and not the plate), then sent across the pond, and then recorded and pressed off of those mediums. So not only could they press better than us, but they had it first hand where we had a copy of a copy. The new 180g vinyls are awesome though.
  2. Okay I'll play Here's the prophet:
  3. Good call. Let me pile on You got it right. It's called $#!t. For the most part, country died 20 years ago. It's part of a movement to morph all music into the same thing: poppy, electronic, beat-heavy, catchy chorus junk. Only difference is one genre talks about drugs and thugs, another talks about drugs and trucks, and the others talk about drugs and love. Bleh.
  4. 1. Waylon 2. Hank Sr 3. Hank Jr. 4. Cash 5. Merle Heck of a birthday gift. I did get an autographed postcard of Johnny Cash some years ago. Pretty awesome. I even had it authenticated. Still hanging on the wall now. Funny thing is that it's probably the only pic I've seen of him wearing blue, but the little brass tag says "Man in Black". Of course that was a moniker of his, but they had to put it on the only freakin' picture in existence of him not wearing black.
  5. I would go see a Waylon "impersonator" or cover band. Waylon is my favorite even among the giants like Hank and Cash. I found a British pressing of Ladies Love Oitlaws and it is easily my best quality country vinyl. What an amazing press it is, and what a great tracklist. It's a toss up for me whether I like Ladies Love Outlaws as much as Lonesome, On'ry, and Mean but my copy of that kinda sucks so I listen to the better quality albums more. Also a big fan of Cedartown Georgia, Always Been Crazy, and Are You Ready for the Country. I guess now I'm just listing Waylon albums lol. Love this guys music. I saw the Pink Floyd Experience at the Smith Opera House in Geneva about 10 years ago and it was awesome. Almost as good as Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes the next weekend...
  6. This is REALLY hard. I would have an easier time coming up with a top 20 or 25. 5 is restrictive, but here goes... Black Sabbath - Paranoid Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Waylon Jennings - Ladies Love Outlaws Paul Simon - Graceland Metallica - Kill 'em All Hon. Mention... Michael Jackson - Off the Wall Can't believe I just made a top 5 with no Hanks... But when I really think of it as 5 albums I can't live without, it's those 5. Best country voice of all time!
  7. Reefer edibles. Won't solve the problem, but can ease the symptoms and you may forget you had a problem for a while.
  8. I'm gonna let that one slide since you have "ski" at the end of your name.... ...but this is just terrible. I can't even imagine the line of serial killers, rapers, and general pervs waiting to get this stuff. Wow. 2018 I guess.
  9. For real. Just let this guy coach for at least 5 years. And I actually believe that's Terry's plan. Finally let a guy implement his system. He sure talks the talk, and has walked the walk thus far. I am very hopeful.
  10. No, deer are in abundance here. I've hit 7 of them just in cars. They give out several buck AND doe tags when you renew the license, but you can apply for the white deer lottery if you want to. Most people I know kill as many deer as they can, and don't generally "tag out". Admittedly I not the greatest hunter. I don't sit still well. So it's a lucky year for me to even kill 1, but then I'm done. I just want the meat. That's why I don't apply for white deer, they are for trophy, and I'm not eating something like that that is all white for who-knows-why that live their whole lives in the ex army depot where they stored nukes. Something just makes me wonder if those suckers are radioactive or are white because of radiation. They say it's safe, but I'm not buying it.
  11. It is. Bountiful wildlife as well. More diverse in the twin tiers NY/PA but still very good in WNY. In my area you can get a tag (through lottery) to hunt the all-white deer at the old depot compound. I won't go south of the PA/MD border. Lol When I move, it will be probably north, possibly Alaska or at least northern NH.
  12. This belongs in ppp since they have become so political. It's not comedy anymore. Imo watching that stuff in 2018 is just like watching Sean Hannity or Rachael Maddow.
  13. Overload one side of the line and put a spy on (or double) Shady to guard against the cutback. If you can put pressure on McPeterAllen and guard against Shady's cut, you can shut down our offense. I don't believe, with the current personnel, we could overcome that. I hope I'm wrong and Daboll has some sorcery cooked up, but this year looks like it could be a long one for the offense.
  14. I want to see Hank with somebody, I hear his combo shows are better. Also I hear Charlie is selective with what he plays, as he no longer agrees with smoking amd drinking and the like. From what I understand he changes some lyrics too, like when he plays "Saddle Tramp". Jinks is cool. Not in love with him so much as Whitey Morgan or Hellbound Glory (before the new dumpster fire). You are right there are not many good ones left. I must admit as far as new music goes there isn't much anywhere. I like Metallica's new album and am currently addicted to Greta Van Fleet but other than that I'm not into the poppy, well, every damn thing.
  15. I agree with this... But this seems to be a thin majority- fair weather just overtook Buffalo in the poll... But what you call 'pool weather', I call brutal heat. But to quote Chan Gailey "that's why Baskin Robbins has 31 different flavors" Still shows love for Buffalo, can you imagine what the poll would look like if we polled Californians?
  16. Thanks for the info. Sturgill has taken a step back since going national. His first two albums are much closer to tradtional- or really more neo-traditional country, and I really enjoy them. Doubt he plays much old stuff though since the new album made him popular. I am excited to see Rateliff, but will openly admit I would rather see OCMS or Jamey Johnson given the chance. JJ to me represents the best of this new age pop country. Never seen OCMS but see great bluegrass at Pickin' in the Pasture in Lodi every year. Good stuff. I will try the LNExperience for sure... I already bought lawn seats since the venue is so expensive. Sitting in one of the front sectiins is going for $400+ right now, so I do hope your tip works. Thanks! Also, not expecting a great Wille show, but I want to see him just to have seen him. I was too young when Waylon and Cash died, and never got a chance to see Merle, but I am determined to see Willie, Hank Jr. and Charlie Daniels before they all die; even though all of them are a shell of their former selves. I missed out on Michael Jackson (had tix to the This is it tour), saw (the most terrible) Bob Dylan show, and will see Metallica in October at Keybank Arena. This year I'm trying to see everybody I can.
  17. I am seeing the outlaw music festival in Saratoga in September. Tickets were pricey as heck, but I want to see Willie Nelson and am a fan of Sturgill Simpson and Nathaniel Rateliff. I am curious, did they play when you saw it, and if so how were they? Also wondering if Sturgill had the brass with him or not. I don't mind sitting on the lawn sometimes (breaks the baseball rule), but when it's a show I care about I get good seats. Still waiting for a decent deal on Metallica in October.
  18. That's what I hear often from winter-haters, that it's the commute (or just driving in snow in general) that they hate the most. When I was a teenager I had cars and admittedly did not like it as much. Now I have had a 4x4 pickup ever since and as long as you have good tires, it makes driving in snow a non-issue. I actually love driving in it, since so many people just stay in their houses the roads are more vacant.
  19. Perhaps, that's why I made it a poll! Well it's obvious where we differ. 50 degrees is pretty much my favorite temperature. But I'm just 30, and hoping as I age I will be able to handle the Buffalo summers... Lol No chance I could ever acclimate to a hot climate.
  20. You always hear about how terrible it is in Buffalo (or WNY) with all the snow and cold. We are treated like an leper tundra community by players/fans/media from the so-called "nicer" parts of the country, most commonly the south and west coasts (usual suspects being Florida and California) You would never expect it would be 80's and brutal 90's for most of our summer, but that's beside my point. What is better, cold and snowy for 4 to 5 months a year, or "fair weather" most of the time with natural disasters and dangerous creatures? I contend WNY is better. I am partial because I LOVE the winter. But besides that, the northeast woodlands are generally insulated from destructive forces. No hurricanes, monsoons, tornados, earthquakes, wildfires, poison snakes and spiders, and our apex predator (bears) are the easiest to deal with in an encounter (compared to other apex predators). I also like that I could build a house, and feel reasonably certain it will still be standing when I'm dead. I imagine most will agree with me since this is a Buffalo-based forum, but am curious to what you guys think. What say you?
  21. Yes, and I believe it has happened. Muffed kickoff, fumble recovered, then run, run, run, FG.
  22. Too bad too, because all of my buddies are always trying to get me to get one and ride with them.
  23. I have crashed 3-wheelers, quads, dirtbikes, minibikes, golf carts, a moped, and cars/trucks... ...for that reason I have decided not to ride a motorcycle. When you are in a crash on a motorcycle, you die. No thanks.
  24. Ugh.... The dreaded high-ankle sprain. Dang O'leary. He is harder than a coffin nail though so hopefully he recovers quick, but these things can linger like a bean fart.
  25. I certainly don't know, but I do know change can equal worse. Remember thinking "we were 4th in the league on defense and brought in defense guru Rex, we can't be worse"... Treat it like a whole new team in a whole new year. Rollover from last season only happens to stable teams with continuity throughout the team. New QB, OL, OC, and LB does not equal continuity. I think it's highly likely whoever plays QB for us (or the combination) will throw for more yards, plausably for more TD's as well.. The thought of us regressing comes from the likely influx of a different number: INT's. Hopefully somebody lights it up and that is not a problem, but the added yards, TOP, and TD's need to be enough to effectively counterbalance the probable INT swell.
