Fair point. Still, the spirit of my post I will stand by. Maybe not every, but most NFL players were, and I suspect you know that. I don't agree they have more NFL quality players. Maybe more guys that will eventually be good/great in the NFL... maybe. I also get Alabama is on a different level that other college teams, and get the best players. The last few years there has definitely been a ramping up of NFL talent, but in the recent past Alabama sends about 5-6 players to the NFL yearly (ranging from 3 to a all time high 11 last year). So depending on the stretch, there could be 30 players that eventually get to the NFL, likely more like 20 or less (roster turnover), but that is still much more than I would have guessed. Many of these guys are still years away from being developed enough to play in the NFL, however, and so I think the distinction between "future NFLer" and currently NFL caliber cannot be understated. These guys need to grow, AND grow-up to become NFL players. I will agree it's a 2+ score game differential, with Bills doing the beating up.

I hear your argument, I just don't think it passes the smell test. Even the Bills of week 1 would smash any college team and I don't think it would be close. Cover 2 shells or not, most of the Alabama players are not NFL size, speed, or talent level. Even the worst NFL players were stars at every level for their whole lives.

He completed passes against NFL players (albiet backups), and elite college players from last year in the preseason at an 80% clip. I think it's real hard to make that kind of argument that he would not be able to complete passes. If you dominate NFL backups (which I would describe 80% as), you would be effective against ANY college squad.

And no matter how good the talent is, this style is only viable with continuity. They are savvy vets and take advantage of inexperienced players and schemes. Of course it helps to have Marsha and Bellycheat. But lets fire a coach and GM every 2 years, with a new OC every year. And we wonder why we suck.

True story. The pats, steelers, and packers would just get all the 1st round graded guys every year in the NFL. I agree fully. The fact is there is a fundamental difference between NFL and college. Besides NFLs commitment (or attempt at) parity, in the NFL, wins are everything, but in college style points and running up the score matter (arguably more than wins), so naturally they have flashy offenses and whatnot. The flashiness and huge score differentials drive this narrative imo.

Yeah, well usually they pick on the Brows or (several years ago) the Rams. I tend not to buy it. I still think since more than half of Bama won't be good enough for NFL and the size/speed/strength difference from college to NFL is real. I think we'd look like all-stars and win by a large margin.

Here we are 2018... ...Where nobody is responsible for anything. It's always somebody else's racism, sexism, xenophobia, something. It's a great way to pass the buck and point the finger since the person you accuse of this has no recourse. This is what we create by constantly coming up for excuses for everything. People start to look for other things to blame- QB sucks, and gets benched- "not my fault coach is racist" Drink too much and beat up your wife- "not my fault, alchoholism is a disease" Etc, etc, etc... We would be in a much better place as a society if people could take responsibility for their own actions.

I can agree with that. I don't love signing OL rather than drafting, though. Hard to get a high-end line without using the draft imo. As for Tre, we don't know yet how they value their own players when up for contract. They shed big contracts of previous regimes, but I am curious how they will handle marquee guys that they drafted when it comes time for a 2nd contract. Tre might be the kind of guy to keep, idk.

As far as "take care of", I mean infuse talent and get starters. No position is 'done', but like I said fill in with some depth and a decent corner, etc but there isn't a dearth of talent. MLB and QB, yeah they "took care" of them. The players might not work out, but even if they don't develop you don't replace them next year, or maybe even the year after. It's not about how good they are right now, it's the GM finding young players. My thought on next years cap is this, they will pay a guy or 2 in FA, and probably trade for a know quantity with a sizable contract, and extend any players they feel the need to, and front-load the contracts to tie up money next year but lower in subsequent years. Then I expect us to be near the cap floor for next year, leaving us with some flexibility (and rollover cap) into 2020. That's my thiughts on what should (and reasonably likely could) happen. I don't expect them to go out and hand out Charles Clay and Derrick Dockery money. At least I hope not.

This here in bold. If everyone is going to suck, it might as well be a rookie who might actually learn and progress. Then hit up other teams PS for OL prospects, sign them, and start them. At the end of the year, if any of the young guys show promise, awesome! But if not, in a worst case scenario, we are right back where we are now needing every spot on the line replaced besides LT.

Jerry, Star, and Trent Murphy have big contracts for sure. Kyle will drop it 5.5 when he retires. If we get some depth on D (and another corner), the defense will be ok. Offense is what needs the lion's share of the 40 gazillion dollars available next year within our cap.

They don't want to invest money into these junk players at OL and WR, so when they replace them we don't have another year where 30% of the cap is dead. Next year we can replace any of them, by any means neccesary, without having to deal with cap ramifications of bad players tying up money. Last year they took care the secondary, this year MLB, interior DL, and QB, next year it's OL and skill players

I was there. Lines seemed to move faster than normal at 12:20 when I walked up to gate 2. We waited maybe 5 mins to get in, 2 mins for a couple beers at the top of the ramp, 5 mins wait to take a piss, and on to our seats. One of the fastest experiences I've had there. Halftime was another story, and leaving was downright quick since 60% of the stadium left halfway through the 4th. I haven't been in a few years, so the new concessions were nice as well. I'm having a hard time complaining about anything besides the product on the field and the sun, which stole my soul.

My reputation is more important to me that instant gratification of walking out. Imo honorable people put in notice if they have spent any type of significant time with a company. It's professional courtesy. Not really trying to call you out this is just my opinion, but "go out on top"? How so? Because you feel like you screwed someone over? I am really curious about this state of mind, I would feel embarassed. Just curious I have had several folks walk out on me over my career and they all act like they were doing something righteous, but I believe it's actually just running away from an uncomfortable circumstances.

We aren't going to be good this year, so it's time to give it a shot! Let's scour practice squads for young guys who show promise, sign them, and play them. Good teams can't afford to pay and put these guys on their 53, so we can take advantage of our current ineptitude. We do that, and maybe we even find a real player or two that will actually contribute positively in the future, and can spend this year in trial by fire. Plus those young guys are hungry.... And won't retire, quit, or otherwise desert the team. Imo this represents our only real shot at legitimate players, short of a trade. Obviously it's still long odds, but since we have no cap space it seems like the right approach this year to me.

We have had quite a few quitters, particularly recently. I was real pissed about Marrone when it happens, but Vontae and Boldin are way worse because of circumstances. Boldin just outright lying and Vontae abandoning the team during a game. Marrone probably had a much larger impact on the team, though.

No. This is the Bills, and when they are bad it's even more important to rep them. I didn't wear Bills gear all off-season. It was en vogue since they made the playoffs last year. Now that they are clearly bad, I won't take off my Bills cap all year. GO BILLS!

My guess is the Pegulas are feeling pretty optimistic about the Sabres, and they bottomed out for a long time to get where they are. Then Sean McD and Beane come along. They promise to do the same. Tear it down to the studs, and rebuild. And then McB does something nobody saw coming, and takes a ragtag group of guys to the playoffs, followed by drafting the best QB prospect we have had in a score of years. Next year we will have 10ish picks in the draft, 400 gillion dollars in cap space, and the future QB of the offense and defense (MLB) already on the roster. I believe the Pegs are feeling pretty good about McBeane, will stand pat at HC/GM, and are fully prepared to ride out the storm this year (and maybe more).

Really? I felt like I did. Mostly things Josh did but I imagine he was coached into them. Thinks like the pump fakes, shoulder feints, selling the play action, the little Allen 'swat' to Foster. Also designed QB runs, and multiple misdirections on a few plays. I was very disappointed that he didn't have Allen rip it more, though. Maybe it's just the terrible OL not giving him time, but when you get the "strong armed guy", you have to show it off. DBs hear about Josh's big arm, but you need to show it to them. There were several times Josh hit the top of his drop, set his feet, and had time to really let it go- but there was either nobody open or he didn't see them open.
