  1. Drama queen ref who wants a headline and is high on authority? Yup. Expenses thought it was a player and shrugs him off? Yup Unfortunate but you still can't do it. Two wise(ish) men before me made the point in song "I fought the law and the law won" and "when I fight authority, authority always wins". This is the reality, and unless it continues to be a theme, nothing will happen, except maybe his crew gets banned from officiating the SB.
  2. I noticed that And when Sharir looks back on it, he will be very happy Josh did that for him. You never know the "good ole days" until they are gone. Congrats to the kid on his first of (hopefully) many!
  3. This is probably true. They can beat the fins w/o tua and prob split with the cheats.
  4. I agree. Keep Tremaine. Underrated board whipping boy that everyone else knows is legit. His size and range can't be taught, and he's a great compliment to Milano
  5. It is too early, but I am concerned. I thought Cook would "hit the ground running", but the truth is he looks nearvous out there. I think he'll settle down and be ok. But I'm not expecting big numbers this year anymore. I really thought he would be a big part of the plan, but he has not looked the part yet.
  6. As I read this you make very good points. But when I really think about it, it comes down to this for me: Without the defense being amazing, this team could still compete. We make the playoffs and are in the mix every year. Without Josh, this team goes nowhere. Full stop. And that's why I have to disagree with you, even though all your points are valid and the defense is amazing.
  7. Same here. Even with the weather, I just don't agree with coach on this one. Sure, we have a great offense, but we also have a great defense, and it seems like you trust the defense to hold on one possession, and then it's all advantage from there on. I don't think the coin toss decision is the "least consequential" part of a game at all. Can be a real advantage if you can capitalize in certain moments. Also I'm not upset about it. I have seen McD's reasoning so I know why he did it, but I'd still defer no matter how bad the weather was. Interesting you would do this every time regardless of situation. That's a response I did not expect. Fair points but obviously I don't agree. I think getting into rhythm in the first (although good overall) can lead to complacency if you take a lead early. I'd rather peak in the 3rd and 4th most days. Of course if you can blow them out and take Josh out in the 3rd quarter that would be preferable to all other outcomes. Receiving probably does improve the chances of that, even if it's incremental.
  8. That's not true. You don't start threads that should be comments for the GameDay thread... But topics that are not just reactionary, and that contribute to the board are ok. But you get the hall monitor badge for the day. -- The weather argument is a decent point, but I still don't think it makes sense to receive. I can even understand the comments like "I don't have a problem with it", but would anybody actually choose this if they were HC?
  9. So as I turn the game on today I notice Buffalo setting up to receive, and I think to myself "man, are we ever gonna win a coin toss this year". Then, to my chagrin, I hear the announcer say Bills won the toss and elected to receive, and Charles Davis adds that McD has so much confidence in his offense. WHAT?! I have long been in the school of thought you ALWAYS defer when given the chance, getting the opportunity to start the 3rd with the ball and even potentially double-dip if you score before half. Moreover, it's an advantage that takes place later in the game, but when you elect to receive, if you don't score on first possession, the advantage is immediately revoked. And even if you do score on the first possession, if the other team scores on their first possession, advantage neutralized. To me there is so little potential benefit by receiving, whereas deferring has a higher potential for advantage, and more importantly it's closer to the end of the game where possessions are at a premium. Can anybody make a compelling argument for actually electing to receive?
  10. While acclimatization is at play, it does not disqualify shade and how much of a difference it makes. You are definitely minimizing it's effects. Do you think they would purposefully build the stadium to give them shade if it wasn't an advantage? Of course they wouldn't. It is very different than our "home field advantage" and I don't really think that's debatable at this point. If it wasn't, they'd have shade for the opposing teams too
  11. Because it's obvious he was concussed, and the only way he gets back into the Bills game was if he was never even evaluated for a concussion. They lied about the injury to get him back in the Bills game and to cover their butts this week leading up to the Bengals game. But I'm not calling for McDaniels to be fired. I do understand though it's the coaches and ultimately the NFL who's responsible to save these players from themselves in situations like this.
  12. Because he was visibly concussed. Back injuries don't cause that disorientation. People who are/were part of fight sports or even fans of fight sports can tell you on the spot it was a concussion. Don't need a doctor to tell me that. Tua was clearly concussed to a casual observer Sunday and somehow never went through protocol, and then had another brain injury 4 days later. That's also why the second was so much worse- it's literally why they have protocols, because re-inury to the brain shortly after a first concussion are the real danger.
  13. Unhinged? Hissy fit? Idk, you gotta take out the negative energy somehow. Sure he could crack a bottle later, roll a spliff, or turn on the old Redtube... But he chose to do it in the healthiest way possible- in the moment. I have nothing to do with the team other than being a fan, and still I screamed at the TV and threw the dough and bowl I was making across the kitchen. And it was over. Call it whatever you want, but it's a cathartic expression of frustration and you can instantly move on. Personally, I'd MUCH rather see that than indifference (Jauron, anyone?).
  14. Get out of bounds and take the kick. Man that sloppy game could have been saved if McKenzie just gets out instead of 1 more yard
  15. But if we beat the (newly crowned) amazing Tua with our entire secondary out besides Taron.... The hype will be monumental in the other direction. Offense gonna need 38 to win this one. Lucky they can do it. Win a shootout. Josh is good enough to put the team on his back in a big time divisional matchup like this.
  16. Running away with the game in the second? Watch again. If Josh doesn't find diggs with 1 minute left in the half (on a play that was blown up but Josh magically found 14), they go into the half up just 10-7. That's hardly running away with the game, or you have a very different definition. It's ok to admit they were out of sorts in the first but still had an awesome game. My argument holds water just fine.
  17. Yeah, I mean.... Take the final score out of the equation, and the offense looked out of sorts for most of the first half. Especially that first quarter, the team looked incredibly average. Josh made some hasty decisions, even had a couple "hero ball" moments with a near fumble and a sack. Trying to break the game open. At the end of the first, when McD spoke to the team, they seed to calm down and execute better. Once halftime happened, though... Sheer domination. But if we have a bad quarter or half against some better teams we might get behind on the scoreboard. The Titans can't score at will, but some of our AFC competitors can. But overall a very enjoyable dismantling of a team we've had trouble with recently. Was very happy to see them shut down Henry, and nice also to see the LBs make a big impact on the game. Also, rookie schmookie when it comes to corners. Even after Dane got hurt, Elam and Benford played really well overall.
  18. Love to see it. Dabs is a good guy and the players love him. He put his balls on the table and it paid off. The NYG team is going to be fun to watch with their nothing-to-lose mentality and they will prob surprise other teams this year (but still have a losing season). Go Dabs!
  19. Prob a regular poster with a troll account
  20. Literally don't care if the score is 2-0, just want that Lombardi!
  21. And that's analytics, ladies and gentlemen
  22. Haha nice! As the newly minted President of the Geneva, NY Bills Backers chapter, I hope it's a great season! We went with bucket specials but the mug is cool. Next Thursday I'll grab some pics of our crew and put 'em up here. Go Bills!
  23. If we're going to do these mega threads, it should be done by someone who can update the OP. Reading through 500+ replies for cuts here and there is crazy. I know we want to keep the homepage less messy, but a new thread for each cut would still be more useful than this.
  24. I have this weird feeling about cook... That it almost seems like the bills are hiding him. Between reports of how great he's looked, my own eyes telling me he's dangerous, and the fact he's a rookie but has gotten SO few touches in the preseason, makes me think maybe they are holding their cards close to the vest and he's in for major playing time this year. Interesting that the rookie has less touches than the other RBs. Without looking at the stats, probably similar touches to Singletary but markedly less than moss (and of course blackshear). I would not be entirely surprised if moss was a surprise cut.
  25. He'll break the record this year for punt avg, but it won't count because he won't hit the "minimum attempts"
