  1. OMG this is insane. It doesn't matter if they get the first down. There are no guarantees, right? But you have a better EV when you do go for it there. A better chance to win the game. The vast majority of the time, what do you think happens there when we punt? The Colts run out the clock. And we tie. McD played not to lose, and because of the horrible decision to punt and call a TO there, he almost cost the team any chance of the playoffs this year. That's what we're angry about. That we have a stupid coach. We're not angry that we won. Or that we lucked out even though he made a bad decision.
  2. fine, it's not meaningless. Happy? How about now looking at the rest of my post now/ Is that possible?
  3. No, that's not it. We want a coach who gives the team the best chance to win. We want a coach here for ten+ years, playoff runs, etc. A coach who gets it. So far, McD does not get it. I love that the Bills won. I really do. But I hate that we won only in spite of our coach's horrible decision making. We got lucky. Woo hoo!
  4. So if I hit on 18 in blackjack against a dealer 6, and I pull a 3, was it the right decision?
  5. the whole point to my comment is that it was against the Colts, and therefore mostly meaningless. Not against a team that matters. I'm a Bills fan and want them to win. But I want them to have a coach with balls who knows about EV and when to go for it, too. And the Bills have a very small chance at making the playoffs at 9-7. I hope they do. But I'm not holding my breath.
  6. You're right, they do. Just like last year.
  7. I am a poker player. that's called being results oriented. And it's one of the first things you learn not to be if you take the game seriously.
  8. I said mostly meaningless. Way to go at the one thing in my post that you can argue with. If you think the Bills are going to make the playoffs this year, I have some swamp land to sell you.
  9. Um, by making the first down?
  10. OMG all of this. If the colts were just not completely incompetent as a team, the Bills do not get another shot at it.
  11. A tie does not help this team, right? So why not go for it? If they fail, they still have to stop the Colts, just like if they punt it. But this way, they actually have a better shot at winning the game! Why is this so hard to understand?
  12. woo hoo! We beat the Colts! In a mostly meangingless game. If McD had gone for it, and the Bills didn't get the first down, I'd actually be happier than I am now. It would tell me we had a keeper. A coach who knows when to go for it and win the damn game. And I'll be looking forward to next year. How do you think that same situation would go against the Pats or the Steelers or the Seahawks? One rule of thumb in football is this: if the opposing team is about to do something that makes you feel relieved, then it's the wrong decision. What do you think Colts fans were thinking when McD chose to punt? "Holy crap! He's giving us a chance to win without going for it! Yay punt!" Do you think any Colts fan wanted to see the Bills go for it there? Hell no. One thing I will never understand about coaches who "punt it and count on our defense to get a stop," is: If you're so confident in your defense, why not go for it in the first place, and then if you don't get it, count on them to stop the other team?
  13. Exactly! How about first trusting in your offense, THEN if it doesn't work out, you get to trust in your defense.
  14. this man gets it
  15. I see what you mean here, but they had no TOs left and might have been able to get to the line of scrimmage and clock the ball after one more play. I see why he did it, but a good team could've gotten a couple more plays off, yes.
  16. yeah, scoreboard - woo hoo! We beat the Colts! In a mostly meangingless game. If McD had gone for it, and the Bills didn't get the first down, I'd actually be happier than I am now. 17. Never thought I'd see a game where a Bills team was out-coached bu Chuck !@#$ing Pagano. Pagano played to win. McD played not to lose. and got lucky.
  18. I would seriously consider firing a coach who did that. One of the absolute worse calls I've ever seen. Gutless and playing for the tie when you HAVE to win!
  19. McD should still be fired. Don't care they won. One of the worst calls by a HC ever. Gutless.
  20. LOL Bills are now going to win and MdC will think his call to punt was right. !@#$ing we're going to have this guy for at least three years now.
  21. this game deserves to end in a tie. McD is dead go me now. I do not want a gutless coach. If I was the owner, he'd be fired immediately after the game. Win, lose, or tie.
  22. OMG Fire McDermott immediately after this game. Worst decision by a HC I've seen in years.
  23. why run that play eith Cadet?? Do it with Tolbert!!! !@#$ing kitty McDermmott
  24. does any team have worse lay-calling than the Bills? The Colts gash the Bills on that last drive, and we're playing two yards and a cloud of snow
