I don't think I could be more "meh" about this signing. I mean, it's a needed position being filled, but by a guy who ranked dead last in some metrics last year. Depends on the contract, I guess. Weird we haven't heard anything about that.

Yeah, I'm fine with luck and had a blast watching the Bills make the playoffs finally. I'm not complaining. I'm just looking towards next year and tempering my expectations because I know the FO is trying to build a perennial contender and that whether or not we make the playoffs in 2018 is meaningless in the long run. Unless, of course, we're really good and make a real SB run. Then, yay!

Yes, they made the playoffs. So, technically, the Bills are "a playoff team." I know that. So does everyone else. However, we also all know that the Bills team last year was mediocre at best, and we only made the playoffs because the Colts coach made worse decisions than Mac did, and because Andy Dalton decided to pretend to be an elite QB for one play. So, while I'd love for them to make the playoffs again, I'd much rather them build a strong foundation for a team that becomes a perennial Super Bowl contender, like the Pats, Steelers, Packers, Seahawks, etc. Does that answer your question?

Of course they're going to TRY to win. They're not tanking. But last year was a miracle. The Bills were not really a playoff team. So many things had to break there way for it to happen the way it did. They were not very good. Nothing wrong with building long-term and trying to win, too...just don't expect the same miracles next year.

I kind of agree. I'm fine with Peterman going in as the starter next year. No we're not. Beane and Mac have made it clear that they are building a long-term team. Next year will most likely not be a playoff year. I mean, if everything breaks right for the Bills, and their rookie QB is good right away - and we get a No. 1 WR - and we get a play-making ILB - whew - then MAYBE we can make the playoffs.

McCown got $10M. That's more like it. If we pay a career backup like McCarron more than that, that's crazy.
