Hmmm, I think it'll take a lot longer to convince the old guard while they are still in power. Plus, analytics in football doesn't really work like it does in baseball. Too many moving parts. Game decision things like when to go for it, when to punt or kick a FG, however, can be quantified mathematically. And has been. Tey just aren't using that math, for the most part. I didn't say I wanted him to lose, I said I wouldn't mind the Bills losing if Allen is obviously progressing as a QB. As for the GB game, I thought the game plan was horrendous and did not help Allen at all. But yes, we didn't see him make an obviously awful throw and INT like he did in GB, so that's progress. I want to make it clear: I love Allen and want to give him the best chance at succeeding - now and in the future. Being a poker player, you should know what being "results oriented" means. That's saying that McD's punting against the Colts in OT was obviously correct because it worked. THAT'S first-level thinking. The Rams were up 33-31 against the Seahawks with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter. It was fourth-and-1 from the LA 43. The Rams could have punted the ball and played defense, and it looked like that’s what they were going to do. The Seahawks had no timeouts left at point either. Instead, they went for it and got enough yardage to win the game. Here’s what McVay told Peter King about this decision: I would have loved to play for McVay. His confidence rubs off on the whole locker room. The Rams play like they aren’t scared to lose, and that’s a big reason they haven’t lost.

One thing I love about McVay, is that he understands the percentages and isn't afraid of losing. Yesterday, he went for it on 4th and 1 from around mid-field to close out the game, instead of doing what every dumb coach always does: punting the ball. I mean, how is Jason Garret still employed? He literally gave the game to the Texans. The Cowboys had to a chance to win this game in overtime but decided to punt on fourth-and-1 at the Houston 42 with six minutes left. The Cowboys have this big offensive line with two more than qualified options, Zeke and Dak, to handle the rock. On top of that, the Cowboys are 19-for-20 on fourth-and-1 over the last two seasons. It seems like a no brainer. But not to the “clapper.” In his post game presser, Garrett said it was “a long one yard.” Yikes. Only a few more months until Lincoln Riley is the head coach of the Cowboys.

I actually agree with you on this some....Allen is amazingly confident, and maybe he's just happy to win. But I'm sure it also bothered him a little bit that the game wasn't put on his shoulders - like you would expect every QB in the league to do. But yes, he's incredibly poised and I love that about him.

I can see this. I’m just against the “we’re taking the ball out of your hands because we don’t trust you to win the game” mindset. That can not have felt good. I’m sure the win helped, tho. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I love Josh and think he has a chance to be the Guy for the Bills. But one thing we know about him, is that he’s resilient...all those bad Wyoming games and then he comes out and lights it up in the next one. I want to see that here. Give him the reigns. but yes, he has no supporting cast, I agree. But put that in the receivers, then, if they can’t catch the ball :cough Andre Holmes cough: I just dont want Dabol and McD to turn him into a game manager this season in the hopes of winning 7 or 8 games. Might as well have kept Tyrol then. I want Josh to fling it. And learn from THAT.

Yay. two straight games now where he has played quite poorly, and the game plan is not helping him. but yeah, bringing in Derek Anderson, that’ll help him. ?

Only in Bills country are fans this !@#$ing clueless about what's good for the team, the new QB, and the long run. Can't believe you'd want to trade wins this season for Josh Allen's development. If that Titan's receiver doesn't drop a gift TD, the Bills lose that game, and the pitchforks would be out over how pathetic the offense was. Especially poorly Josh Allen played. And you really think Josh Allen got a lot of confidence when his offensive coordinator tells him, "We're putting the game on the offensive line. Run the ball"?? Know what would give him confidence? "Go sling it. We live or die by what you do. And we'll take the result, either way." This is how bad Josh Allen was: his QB rating was around a 42. Our punter, who thought he was doing a fake FG when no one else did, had a QB rating of around 39. This is not giving Allen confidence.

Those are good points. I listened to it, and I agree. The Bills should not be a team trying to win with smash-mouth football, limiting mistakes, and getting McCoy 20 carries a game. If it is, why did we draft Josh Allen and get rid of TT? Let Josh Allen be Josh Alen. Let him loose. When I hear Allen say at a press conference that the coaches told him we were going to put the game on the freakin' offensive line?? THIS offensive line? Really? How does that affect Allen's confidence - or, what he feels is his coaches' confidence in him? Let the wild horse run free.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with his game decisions, actually. After the Colts game punting fiasco last year, I was afraid we had another Marvin Lewis or Mike McCarthy. but McD shows growth...he’s gone for it on 4th down a few times this year when the game wasn’t yet on the line...that’s promising. The D looks pretty good. He he really has little to do with the offense... so, yeah...I think he’s doing well. Lol look what Garrett just did! Punted on 4th and 1 from Houston’s 41 in OT. Cowboys never saw the ball again. im glad we have McD and not someone like Garrett. O’Brien isn’t much better. That whole game was a tutorial on bad football decisions.

So the team who shut us out last week loses to the Lions, and the Bills beat a team who, in the last two weeks, beat the Super Bowl champs and the Jags. ok

I'll go with Dean Marlowe....kid came in and played perfectly fine. Pretty good for a guy who was on the practice squad last week.
