What would you grade the 2017 draft?

If mahomes sucks, Watson sucks when he returns, and we don't get a QB/our QB this year sucks? B+ If the we get a QB who winds up better than Watson/mahomes? A+ If mahomes is great or Watson is great and we don't get a great QB this year? F!! -

Chad Forbes info on possible Bills trade up.
SouthNYfan replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. Then you have to add up everything you gave up to get each pick, for example. -#21 + cordy +5th (#158) was that #12 cost (we also got a 6th #187. Should keep that number it's MURDER ?) So if we trade to #7 by giving (just saying): #12 and #22 , at minimum that means we actually gave up #21, #22, #158 and cordy Glenn for the #7 pick. Again I'm not saying that is what it would cost to go to #7 I'm just saying that's how you have to look at it Just because one team overpaid doesn't mean we have to Yeah I don't think it would cost a ton, but see my response above at the total cost. Right I agree. But Cleveland could go Barkley #1 leaving Darnold #2 to NYG, then Jets have Mayfield/Allen/Rosen choice at #3, leaving browns with the remaining 2 to choose from -

Yep. I said it on another thread. I believe the only QB the Giants want is Darnold, but that they also could be in on Barkley. If browns go Allen #1, Giants almost certainly will take Darnold #2. If browns go Darnold, Giants want Barkley, but might move for a big haul. -

I would be okay with him sitting for a bit depending on who it is. Rosen and Mayfield could roll day #1 Allen, Jackson, Rudolph, darnold should all sit. (I'm not avocatingfor any in particular here, just saying that having them sit isn't a terrible idea) Goff sat for a bit his rookie year. -

So do the Giants with Eli and his two rings. It works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Just like every draft pick. It's less detrimental now with the rookie wage scale I think. Another important factor is that bad teams usually have a bad QB, so they aren't willing to part with the top pick. This year was an exception with the colts and Giants both in the top 5, who both might pass on a QB and be willing to trade down (colts already moved down a couple spots) Broncos might be willing as well, then after that, all the teams from 6-11 are set at qb and might be willing to trade back as well. -

That's fair. I think that's moot though, as I cannot see him being there at #12. Cleveland and NYG hold the keys to it all. If Cleveland takes Allen, then what? NYG go Darnold and sit him a year? That leaves only Mayfield or Rosen available after #3, with the Jets taking one, and Denver probably grabbing the remainder if they like him. Does NYG go Barkley then, letting Darnold, Rosen, and Mayfield all shift down to the Jets and broncos, now leaving the remainder to fall? Maybe the broncos don't take one, then two of them fall? This draft is completely crazy.

Interesting. What about later in the first, if say, he's available at #12 (which he won't be) assuming we cannot trade up? I feel you there. I think that sometimes you have to go with the risk though. I know it's a gamblers' mentality, but the payoff could be the next Favre instead of a mid-level, above average guy. Again, I'm not advocating for or against the guy, but I wouldn't be upset if we took him, just like I wouldn't be upset if we took a different QB.
