If all 85 players were fine full rides for 4 years (Which they aren't) that's about 13.6 million over 4 years Vs $400+ million in gross revenue They make between $40-65 MILLION PROFIT per year after all is said and done (salaries, field upkeep, marketing, etc) They make a ton of $$ off these players. Saban himself makes over $7mil a year. Stop defending them like they are doing the world a charity service by offering football. Should be called the "emerald tide" instead with all the $$ ROLLING in.

I don't think either one. Leaf imploded due to him being a complete headcase. Allen, while similar in the "big arm, but unrefined" mold as a player, doesn't seem to be a freaking headcase. Rosen I don't think is a headcase in the Leaf mold, I see him more of a "Jay Cutler" risk: concerns of durability and apathy.

I think he could have matched or beaten the offer for Goff that STL proposed, although it was quite a bit. Passed on Carr also. There weren't a lot of good QBs when he was drafting, so you're right on that. Must have just been all his other bad decisions lol

I think his job depends on it too. If he trades up and the guy doesn't pan out, I think many (including myself) would be more forgiving than if he sat on his hands, did nothing (or took a flyer later in a QB) and the QBs he didn't trade up for wound up being really good. That's what ultimately killed Whaley. Not going for broke on a QB.
