Was that single season or career? Sproles isn't ahead career, neither is barber -

Agreed. The dude has been a tank. I was just saying that taking that single number doesn't tell the whole picture. I'm a Thurman fan. I think he gets lost in the shuffle talking about the greats. He's not top 5 to me, but like I said, 6-20 are splitting hairs -

Frank Gore is #6 Do you think he's better than Thurman? -

Agreed.. I have sweetness, oj, Sanders as my top 3 interchangeable Then there are about 20 guys I could shuffle into the remaining 7 spots in the top 10 based on how I'm feeling that day. I man look at bo Jackson, imagine if he hadn't been injured? Look at WR: Megatron vs Rice. Different style of player, Megatron had a better prime, rice the better career Look at MLB pitchers. Koufax and Pedro had arguably the most dominant 3-4 year stretches of any pitchers ever Marddux and mussina had longer but less dominant primes. Basketball? LeBron vs Jordan. Literally you could argue either way as #1. -
Bills Draft Day QB Worst Case Scenario
SouthNYfan replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What others? You basically named the lotto tickets 4 that they struck gold. What about the one that sucked? (Peterman, Tolbert, just to start there) I added a couple others too, was saying the same thing -

Agreed. I think many rankings also are defined by what you are valuing. Longevity? Emmit. Versatility? Thurman is pretty high on that list, so is LT and faulk. Power/speed combo style? Brown, and AP come to mind Agility/moves? Sweetness, Sanders, Dickerson This is tough with any sport. As the years go by, more great guys appear. Some older guys get pushed down the list because young fans can't compare the new guy to a guy they never saw play, while some older fans refuse to move any of the old guys down because "they were the best and you can't change my mind" Comparing players from different eras is really hard and impossible to do cleanly. Different training, different rules, different upbringing/college football coaching. It's like trying to compare a 1975 classic muscle car to a sports car today. Objectively, the modern car decimates the classic in every category. Speed, efficiency, handling, reliability, everything. What you can't change is somebody's feelings and nostalgia for that old vehicle, the subjective thoughts on it. Anyway, long post, as always. I think #1-20 is a minute difference in any all time list and any team would be happy with any guy in that ranking. -
We can agree to disagree there. Taking the concussions out of it I have them: Rosen ---- ---- Mayfield Darnold Including the concussions (which you have to) Rosen Mayfield ----- ---- Darnold Rosen is light-years ahead of either one with his pocket presence and decision making Mayfield reminds me of flutie, not because he's short, but just that fiery, win at all costs attitude. That's good and bad. I'll use the NBA as an example. Jordan is an all time great, hardcore never wanted to lose, and early on he was detrimental to his team due to his fiery desire to win at all costs. As he matured, he realized he couldn't do it all on his own, and started to pass more, allow other guys to be involved, and started winning titles like crazy. Russell Westbrook is one of the most gifted players ever, and has that fire to go along with it. He has driven James harden and Kevin Durant out of town, along with oladipo too now, as nobody likes playing with him, because he is a ball hog who doesn't trust his two all star teammates. I'm concerned Mayfield's fire could turn into that. Again, I have zero problem getting him, but if they are both available, I would go with Rosen, but it's damn close.

What If A QB Says No? Can They Say No Any More?
SouthNYfan replied to BadLandsMeanie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL (the NBA, NHL, MLB also, for that matter) are not "other industries" in a "free market" They are CHOOSING TO WORK FOR THE NFL, and thus are abiding by the rules within that company. Yes, I can choose what physical therapy company to work for (I'm a PT), but I can't always choose my location within that company. We have multiple offices, and guess what? I got transferred a few years ago to one of the other offices, 49 miles away, two days after I had just moved to a new home less than 5 minutes form my old office. Did I have a say in that? Nope. I had two options. Take the transfer or quit. No other options. So my employer dictated where I worked. The NFL draft is not illegal because the players and owners agree to the CBA. It's the same reason the salary cap, rookie wage scales, vet minimums, etc are all allowed. In an open, free market, they are not legal, and I understand that, but within the confines of the NFL they are allowed because the player's association and the owners all agreed on them. It is done for competitive balance. Teams in desirable places (Miami, Los angles, NYC, states with no income tax) would have a huge advantage, like they do in free agency. If there was no salary cap, the good teams could just keep signing the good players as free agents. This goes in conjunction with why the draft exists, so teams have a choice of who's available, and teams like the browns aren't left picking through scraps every year. Yes I've read all the bullsh*t posturing about it how it violates free market, monopoly, blah blah. This is because there is no other league where the players could go to make comparable $$. If one of the sides decided to take it to court, then the judge would more than likely disband the league and the draft as a whole, by dissolving the CBA. So yes, the concept of a draft might be illegal in a free market, but as it stands, it is not illegal since the CBA is an agreement which bypasses that. -
Dunkirk Don or Savior Peterman
SouthNYfan replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure. I know some people have created poll threads though. I think the options should be: -dunkirk -savior -both -neither -light them both on fire -
Well they are getting Mayfield or Rosen. Either way it's tough to stomach. It'll be much easier to stomach when we get the other one. It'll be even harder to stomach if we get neither of them. I almost wish they take Rosen, leaving us Baker, and him putting the Jets on his "list" for passing on him.

I meant "he's 29, not 35" People are acting like he's 40 years old -

He's clearly our #4 on the depth chart. -
Um. His athleticism is still top tier, even in the NFL, and he would still have an advantage. The gap just isn't as wide.

Look. Bryant is available. He'd be far and away the best wr on this team, it's not even close. He's 29. He's also an ahole and probably wants big $$$$. You can say he's not worth the money or the attitude anymore, but he's still better than anything we have, or will get before the season starts. I'm not saying give him the $$$. I think we should at least give him a ring. -

Have you heard him talking? I think checkers is too fast for him mentally.

Because he's a wr At this point I think Jerry rice would be our #1 receiver -
I don't think he's a polarizing as the others, like I'm sure a few think he will bust, but have somebody else as more likely to bust.

exactly. I don't love his attitude. he still had close to 900 yards last year and is 29 years old. Oh he played like the last half of the season on a sprained ankle. -

Why Picking Josh Allen Would Be Disasterous
SouthNYfan replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah. i was just saying that, as with the Rams, IF the bills drafted allen, they would have to: -get 2+ above average WR's -retain clay and/or add another offensive TE -shore up the Oline All by the start of next season. Similar to the Rams adding weapons for Goff. If Allen wasn't ready by next year, it would be a sh*tshow, so I agree with you. I think the Giants would be a GREAT fit for him. -Eli under contract for 2 seasons, although they can "get out from under" it after this year, with I think only 5-6 mil in cap hit if he's released/retires, giving Allen the option of playing 2 seasons on behind Eli to learn -QB guru coach -OBJ to bail him out when he becomes the starter -

Reminds me of the Rams and Goff. Had f*ckall there at first. Went out and got him weapons for year two. Maybe they can just have Mayfield play in high heels. I'm sure there are a few pairs left lying around that Rex forgot in storage when he was shoved out the door. -
Previous injuries increase the risk for future injuries. This is a non-debatable medical fact. Brees' shoulder was a complete mess, and it was a miracle he could even throw the ball again, let alone at such a high level These are medical facts Just like Bradford and Bridgewater have higher injury risks than aj mccarron has. Yes, anybody can get hurt on any play, that's also a medical fact. The chance of sustaining an injury, especially concussions, is much higher when it's happened before
